    I play the 100 hand penny machine.
    This provides a lot of action and find it very enjoyable to play.
    Even when dealt a crappy hand you can toss it and still do ok as you have 100 other potential hands. When dealt a great hand it gets propagated to all 100 hands. The down side is at a penny a hand there aren't any great wins.

    Now, if I play a single hand for $1 this can be fun when you get a great hand, but playing one hand at a time is boring.

    Need to find the sweet spot. Maybe 5 hands at $1 each, but what type of bankroll would one need to play at that pace?

    Where is your happy medium when playing VP?

    First, there is also 3, 5, 10 and 50 play video poker as well as the 100 play variety... and Spin Poker comes in 9 (regular) and 20 (Deluxe) versions.

    For me, I would just do the math: at 5 credits per hand for max bet you can figure out how much it'll cost you to play one of these games.

    Penny
    3=$0.15
    5=$0.25
    10=$0.50
    50=$2.50
    100=$5.00

    Nickle
    3=$0.75
    5=$1.25
    10=$2.50
    50=$12.50
    100=$25.00

    Dime
    3=$1.50
    5=$2.50
    10=$5.00
    50=$25.00
    100=$50.00

    Quarter
    3=$3.75
    5=$6.25
    10=$12.50
    50=$62.50
    100=$125.00

    Dollar
    3=$15
    5=$25
    10=$50
    50=$250
    100=$500

    Now that you know that, just ask yourself how much action and risk your bankroll, and you, can take.

    Yes, with these multi hand games you do often win back a chunk of your initial wager even if you have a nothing hand, but a small losing streak can burn through an underfunded bankroll pretty fast.

    Using the $1 scenario and lets say 5 hands per play for a total of $5, what would be the suggested bankroll to play for an hour or two?

    I use a 150 hand minimum

    $.25 game which at max bet is $1.25 per line.

    Single line $.25 I will have a session bankroll of $200.00, 3 lines is $600.00, and 5 lines is $1000.00

    I usually start out either at $.25 or $1.00 single line. If I’m successful, I will move up to multi line.

    My sessions have rarely been under 2 hours using this method

    Well now I'm confused. You want to play at the dollar level, five hands at a time? That's not $5, that's $25 per hand. 5x5.

    You could easily blow through a $2,000 stake in an hour.

    Hey, don't "quote" me when you are changing what I typed :)

    For your question the first thing I would say is: you are asking about playing five $1 hands by betting only one credit per hand... I would actually suggest moving down to quarters and playing $1.25 per hand instead ($6.25 per play in total instead of $5)

    The reason is the Royal Flush: normally I'm not that worried about the royal flush and playing max credits for it - its very rare to hit and it doesn't contribute that much to the game's overall payback...

    However, with multi handed play they do come up more often: consider if you are playing single line VP and dealt four to the royal flush you have a 1 in 47 chance that you are going to get the card you need... if you are playing 100 hand VP and dealt four to the royal flush you are mathematically supposed to hit the royal flush twice.

    That is with 100 hand VP but even with just five play that means you have five shots at hitting that 1 in 47 chance which should come up about once every two and a half hours of steady play (being dealt four to the royal flush, that is... not that you should hit a royal flush every 2.5 hours).

    MY error, I went back and read the OP post and didn't realize we were discussing one unit per hand. Why anyone would do that is a mystery to me, but then I totally agree with Auggie. Play quarters and max coins.:poke:

    No, it is $1x5 hands which equals $5.

    Are you playing one credit per hand? Everyone else here is talking about playing max bet per hand, which gives you the best odds.

    And it all depends which game you are playing.

    JOB you can start with a lower bankroll that if you are playing DDBP

    Good point. There are a ton of games and that may be another thread.
    This thread was with the assumption of JOB.

    Yeah, figured to keep it simple I was using $1 per hand.

    How do the multi hand games work? is it a different deck for each hand...and you keep cards from your initial hand and they waterfall through to all other hands?

    Is 100 hands considered a single "round"? so a W2-G is required for a total win (on all 100 hands) of 1200 or more? or is it per hand?

    For 100 play:
    You get dealt 5 cards at the start
    You select what cards you want to keep
    Those cards you hold are held for all the 100 hands
    You press deal and you get replacement cards from separate decks for the remaining cards.

    So if you are playing JoB and get AAA39 and hold the three aces you can make four aces up to 100 times because each hand will have its own deck, just the cards you are holding will be removed from those decks (IE: so you can't get 5 aces)

    And all 100 hands is considered a single play. So if you won $15 on each of the 100 hands you would get a tax form because that would be $1500 total for the single play.

    But for the most part you really need to be playing high or hit a huge hand to get a tax form. IE: if you are dealt four of a kind of a nickle machine playing max bet that won't be enough to trigger a tax form... or if you are playing a dime version of the game and are dealt four the royal flush you would pretty much need to hit 3 royal flushes or more to get a hand pay/tax form.

    But you can consider what you are playing: if you are playing a dime version of 100 play VP at max bet thats $50 per hand... so you should have a clue that if you hit something really big you'll be getting in to tax form territory, just as if you were playing a slot machine at $50 a pull.

    Yes, after you get the original deal on the bottom deck, the re-draws come from a separate deck for each line.

    A big-paying multi-hand is indeed treated as ONE payoff, as it is considered one bet ... and "can" bring about the W2-G.

    You really shouldn't play 1 coin at a dollar. Play 25c at 5 coins instead. It's a MUCH better play.

    Depending on where you play, you may be better off playing Bonus Poker instead of JoB. This is definitely the case for CET penny machines. And strategies are very close to the same. 6/5 Bonus > 7/5 JoB; 7/5 Bonus > 8/5 JoB; 8/5 Bonus > 9/5 JoB. 9/6 JoB (at Palms for 1c/2c) is the best possible game option between both games though. Also, in many places paytables for 100 line games are inferior to single line or /3/5/10 play machines.

    Trying to keep it simple is hard unless you find the rare 20c credit machine. :evillaugh Casino Royale actually has that denomination though with 8/5 Bonus Poker at dimes and higher.

    Personally I'm a micro roller, so I usually only play 10 lines of these at 5 pennies per line tops.

    VP

    I find my sweet spot is 5 play nickle VP. It costs the same ($1.25) as single line quarter, but the multiple hands make it less volatile so I can play the bonus games.

    My sweet spot is $5 single-line at max coin. Sometimes when I'm drunk or chasing I'll step it up to $10 single-line but at $50/spin a bad streak can wipe away thousands in the blink of any eye.

    I'm more of a hit and run player at VP and multiline games haven't been good for that. Unless you get a big hand on the deal the wins never seem as sweet. On single line even if I get a nice streak of full houses and flushes I can be up a grand or more quickly.

    Try the 3 line $2...but play DDB. You can score some quick hits if you catch quads. And there's nothing cooler than 3 aces on the deal, drawing to 3 hands for the big payout.
