We're looking for a Mexican restaurant with good food and a lively scene that is located in a casino where we can play some decent blackjack afterwards. any recommendations?

Casino options are pretty weak. My pick would be Diego at MGM. Many people like Border Grill at Mandalay. However, my experience was lackluster.

Javier's is new at Aria. Haven't heard much about it.

Thank you. Are there some good non-casino options you know of?

Orleans used to have a good one.

We used to go eat there all the time. It looks as if it may be a new Mexican place now though. Maybe someone can shed some light?

All the ones I've tried in Vegas strip hotels are American-Mexican style places and among them my faves have been Tacos & Tequila at Luxor, Diablos at Monte Carlo, and Diego at MGM are all good. I've noticed the restaurants at Monte Carlo have gotten busier since Aria opened-- a lot of people staying there probably walk over for more casual restaurant options. The quality is good. As far as the lively scene your best bet would be Diego at MGM, the casino is usually pretty lively. T&T at Luxor is probably my favorite of the 3 but the Luxor casino doesn't seem too lively. Monte Carlo is somewhere in between but has gotten a little more lively since Aria opened as well with people walking over from there for better limits.

Border Grill at Mandalay Bay!! My favorite restaurant. Me, my family, and my friends all love it, we go nearly every trip. Also it's usually on Restaurant.com if you need a discount.

It's more unique mexican... not super lively though, as it's kind of tucked away. But it's Mandalay Bay so easy access to their casino.

Mesa Grill is good too at Caesars, a bit pricey though.

    La Salsa :wink2:

I call it the "Chili's" of Mexican food but hey at least they offered us a beer to go when we left...I live in Colorado and get great mexican food and have yet to find a place in Vegas that compares.

I echo the thoughts of Border Grill at MB. Neat place to eat outside. It's kind of by the pools which is also neat. Also a good deal with the coupons from restaurant.com

It's not in a casino but last trip I ate at El Segundo Sol, on the outside of the Fashion Show Mall. It was a neat little place with pretty good food. I think they had some good lunch specials there. There is usually a restaurant.com coupon for them too.

I know it doesn't get great reviews here, but I enjoyed my meal at Gonzalez Y Gonzalez at NYNY a few years ago. The prices are reasonable and the service was good. I enjoy the atmosphere of NYNY, so it was a fun experience.

I am from san diego so I am selective about my mexican food.

i normally dont even like places that have seats much less ambiance.

The crummy taco stand is usually the best. If they had some carts they pushed down the strip they would make a killing.

They did finally put a taco place in downtown which is a lunch counter type place.

Food was just ok, more like mom would make in wisconsin on taco night then what i would look for down the street here but at least its a start.

    CousinEddie-

Have you been to Tacos El Gordo in Vegas? Does it compare to the SD one?
