Inexpensive to Mid-Range Eats Downtown

The 2nd day of our trip, we will be hanging out on Fremont Street for the better part of the day (around noon-9pm). Looking for some places to eat lunch and/or dinner that's not fast food, but no more than around $20-30 per person. Not looking for anything swanky at all, just a place to sit down & get some food in the belly.

I have NEVER eaten DT (just gambled & hung out), so I have no idea at all where to go.

 

If you like Thai food, I highly recommend Le Thai. It's an inexpensive casual restaurant with excellent food. They even have lunch specials.

 

Triple George can't be beat IMHO... Outstanding food and not fancy at all.

 

I went to binions cafe on a recent trip. It was inexpensive but I personally dont think quality was all that great.

The Plaza has a Hash House a Go Go -- which gives you huge portiions, but it was a little on the heavy side. But then again, I wouldnt expect fried chicken for breakfast to be for someone with a weak stomach.

 

Magnolia's in the Four Queens has a prime rib special for less than $10, and they usually have a couple other specials of the day in the $8-$11 price range. Not awesome food, but good value for the price.

 

There are numerous places downtown that you can get a decent meal for that price. Do you want to stay in the casinos or walk to a place in the vicinity?

 

For $20-30 I think you can probably eat at 90% of the downhtown restaurants! The 24 hour cafe in the El Cortez is good, and I enjoy the buffets at MSS and the Fremont. With a coupon from ACG or LVA you get 50% off your meal at the Flame for an evening meal. Or try the Prime rib with salad bar at the California aftr 4. Lots of ads on the hotels when you walk around too.

 

Oh I totally forgot anout HHAGG downtown. Well, I think that issue is settled!

 

Looking for something in the casinos. Will be attending the NASCAR festivities, so dont want to stray ffom the FSE.

 

For an inexpensive pasta meal I like the Pasta Pirate in the California. Decent food and it comes with bread, salad and wine.
I also like Dupars at the Golden Gate for comfort food and Lillie's Noodle House at the Nugget.

 

The 777 brewpub at Main Street Station is good. If you'll be there on a weekday then stop by between 3-6 for their happy hour specials. $2 brewed on premesis microbrew pints and a number of appetizer specials for under $5. The peel and eat shrimp is a fantastic deal at $4.99!

 

Another vote for 777 at Main Street for lunch or happy hour.

Dinner I recommend 2nd St Grill in the Fremont or Redwood in the Cal. Reservations would probably be required with the Nascar activities going on, but either would fit in your budget w/o drinks.

Just to add something a little different, I have enjoyed Grotto at the Golden Nugget for good Italian food at a moderate price.

It is a bit "higher class" in case you have those in your group who want something "nicer".
