I'm wondering what kind of comps I could expect, on the strip, if I were to check in for five days and put 5k on deposit in the cage and draw against that as needed. I would gamble at least six hours a day at BJ and craps. I know a lot of this has to do with my betting level, but I am curious if 5k on deposit will even get their, or a hosts, attention. Thanks.

Depends upon the hotel in which you make the deposit....which hotel are you staying at?

I was thinking TI, Monte Carlo or Flamingo. Something kind of middle of the road. I would love to go to Mirage but I imagine 5k there wouldn't garner much interest.

I personally don't think 5k is enough to bother with all the paperwork and hassle of front money and markers... 5000 is only 50 bills, or 5 1k Amex travelers checks if the cash makes you nervous...

Just a thought, good luck on your trip!

I disagree with the above poster. $5K is going to at least make someone aware that you are serious about playing at their property. Speaking with my host she stated that casino management would rather have someone play with money on a cage account than not. She also stated that a cage account is looked at better than a CL especially for new players. For there established players on a CL it doesn't matter that much. She stated with money on deposit with the cage they know the money is already in the casino and chances are higher that you are going to stick to that hotel/casino and spend your money.

Now understand it is one thing to put it on account and another to actually use it. It will also depend how deep into your bankroll on account you will go. Will you spend the whole $5K? If so I can advise probably what you would get at MonteCarlo.

    1. At least 3 days comp'd Deluxe room upfront with the remaining days
being reviewed at the end of your trip. If you go with the Deluxe
standard room) at the end if you concentrated all $5K at the MonteCarlo
they probably would give you another 2 days comp'd for a total of 5.
If you are running allot of your winnings back through then you could end
    up with more.

    2. You will probably get some (not all) of your meals comp'd. Again you
would have to run some of your winnings back through either on tables
or slots. Slots are going to get you looked at more favorably but I
    wouldn't change your gaming habits.

    3. The key to the above is to get a host. Call one up introduce yourself
ask them what they can do for you. Throw out that you will be wiring
money to the cage prior to your arrival (don't have to tell them how
    much).

When I switched from CET to MLife 2 years ago I emailed my current host, advised her I wasn't happy with CET and she comp'd 3 nights without even speaking with her on the phone. I advised her in my email that I had been a long time CET player and I wasn't happy due to some incidences with their hosts and that I would be wiring money to the MonteCarlo cage prior to my arrival. I arrived and checked into VIP and had them call her. I met her for the first time we hit it off great. Allot of what you get in Vegas is around the relationships your build, yes you have to spend money but once they know who you are your are in. As long as you keep playing and not try and screw the casino, its a give and take, win/win situation for me at least.

This advice and information above is only for the MonteCarlo as I'm not familiar with other Hotels/Casinos and what they might or might not do.
The key is to finding a friendly host. I can recommend one at MonteCarlo if you send me a PM.

Thanks blackjack nut... I suppose I spread my play around a bit too much to make a qualified statement if the op is planning to stick only to the property he is staying at. Great point! I'm more of a wanderer and although I do most of my play at the casino I'm saying at... It's by no means all of my play.

Thanks for the reply! I also was thinking along the lines of how some people get nervous carrying late amounts of cash, with Amex travelers check being an alternative.

    $5,000?

I usually carry that much with me and never think to bother with a cage account. Seems like too much hassle.

In the end, comps are going to based on your PLAY, no matter how much you have at the cage. After all, they make ZERO profit from money sitting in their account. They only make money when it is played.

Yeah, that was my initial thought too. This way you can play where you want. I guess it depends where you plan to play. I couldn't personally stick to one place when I'm on the strip. OP, is that your plan?

You are correct you have to play and I made that point in my post. My point is you have to build a relationship. I know this works because I have done it. Yes I play at a higher level but a few years back I was also wiring only $5K to the cage. The $5K is what starts the dialogue between you and a host. Then you spend your money at the casino, run some winnings through, charge your meals to your room. Find out when your host's birthday is and send him/her a card or if you are in Vegas during this time give them a little token. I go Vegas at Christmas time so every year I spend about $200 on a gift for my host. She appreciates it and I like giving so it works for me.

This all works if you stay at the same hotel/casino as I do. Parts of this strategy work if you spread your money around at higher play levels. Just like in the business world relationships are everything. You can get more out of your Vegas stay if you have good solid relationships, but you have to be willing to invest the time and be little bit of a salesman.

When I walk into the MonteCarlo/Hotel32 they know who I am, the pit bosses and dealers know me and I like that feeling. I have no delusions though they like me because of the money I'm spending but as long as in my mind it is a win/win situation, it works for me.

I guess my plan is to stay at a mid level property mid strip and see if I can get a few comps for a shot at my 5k over five days. I am not expecting the world, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask. I typically gamble where I stay, but I will do some gambling elsewhere. Ill give them 4-6 hours a day of action. If I get some comps thrown in fine, if not I can live with it. The one thing I will not do though is alter my play or betting limits to "pay for" my comps. I will be totally honest with the casino, if they ask, and tell them I will do some gambling elsewhere. If they treat me nice (and this does not mean mega comps, but if they are nice to me) I will be back and they can count on me as a loyal customer. Blackjack nut, I tried to send you several PMs but when I checked my PM outbox they didn't show up. I am contacting admin to get this squared away. Thanks everyone for your input and advice. It is greatly appreciated.

He probably got the pm's, are you sure you have the save sent message to outbox option set?

Enjoy your trip! I think if you're focusing 4 to 6 at the home property bj nut might have a very good set of info for you. Have a blast!

My host was much nicer to me on subsequent visits than he was on the first. Which kind of makes sense.

I must say, just putting the 5K on deposit anywhere is not going to get you much.

HOWEVER, if you play aggressively with it at a midlevel property like MC, you are very likely to get all of your charges picked up at the end, and they will welcome you back with open arms.

I decided to have a little fun with your numbers, since gambling math is an enjoyable sport of mine.

Your front money is $5,000, and you're hoping to play 6hrs per day for 5 days.

    That's 6 x 80 x 5 = 2,400 hands of blackjack.
Now, since you're hoping to get rated you're likely going to be betting an average of say $50 / hand (1% of your bankroll). Let's suppose you only flat bet to keep everything conservative - this gives you about a 20% chance of going broke.

At this level the house can expect to make about $1,200 off of you, and in return is likely to give you something in the range of about $400 worth of comps. Which sounds like they are going to cover your room, probably nothing more.

I think he mentioned $10 a hand in another post so you need to adjust the math a bit.

You don't get rated at $10 / hand. The minimum is $25.

for $5k on deposit you can expect a hearty handshake from the pit boss.

Play $50-100 per hand in baccarat. You can gain descent express comps from MLife properties. Also, if you play enough you can get your room comped. I went to Vegas with 5k before and got my room comped (3 nights) plus extra on my EC. Blackjack is a fast game. 5k can be gone quick if your units are the same as above. I would play $25 per hand in BJ with 5k in 2-3 days. For 5 days, I would play $10-15 per hand. Bet big when you get on a streak.

    Good luck!

I'm just going by the OP's previous post where he talked about playing table games at the $10 level:

At the MonteCarlo the minimum is $15 a hand.
