Would consider some of the( better) coffee shops. Most have some decent specials esp. if ya want to eat off hrs. I wil assume ya dont to do the big chains. For steak Ellis Island, or Mr Lucky's have good steak specials but ya ask for them. Just curious where are you staying?.

The way restaurants come and go, I would be more inclined to ask this question three months in advance. Some of these changes happen over night.

For $70/person you have access to the majority of places.
A smaller list would be where can i NOT eat for $70/person.

It sounds like he has $420/day for 2 people to eat. He does not need to seek out bargain basement specials. Agreed, though, knowing where he is staying will help us help him.

with that kind of budget your options are pretty good as long as you do just a glass of wine or 2. just look for the types of food that you like and come up with some options and then you'll get a better response about what people prefer.
