Hi, I was last in Vegas 7 years ago and signed up for cards with a few casinos but can't seem to find them. I am going to Vegas next week and wondering if I can sign up for a new one or will I get a replacement card ? It would be nice to be able to take advantage of some promos but I assume since I signed up for a card previously that I will just get a replacement card.

More than likely, you'll be issued a replacement card. In fact, I don't know of a single property that hasn't changed their cards (design, name, affiliations, etc.) within the past few years anyway, let alone seven! In any case, the difference in time and effort to sign up for a new card vs. getting a replacement is usually a wash.

7 years is a long time. in many cases they might have deleted you from the system during a cleanout and you'll sign up for a new one. in other cases they will still have you on file.

Just go up to the counter and ask for a card. If they have a new member promo, you can say you can not remember if you ever signed up before. If they find you, they will just give you a new card. If they do not, they will sign you up.

Their systems have a good memory, but who knows what each hotel will find.

By the way, not much in promos going on. And, keep in mind that MGM has about 40% of the hotels and CET has 40%. (those numbers are my wild ass guess, only to make a point)

You'd think that, but I was at the Stratosphere last weekend and assumed the same, and went to the player's card desk and acted like a new member. They said that I was still in the system and had $8.00 of comps available.

I went to MLife in MGM Grand just before my kick at the Lions last trip (August). They had me in their system with last play recorded in 2007. Some years before, when I went back to Caesar's, they had me from maybe four moves past, had to have been 10 years.

I went to Hard Rock in July for first time since 2005 and they still had my old account. Venetian about the same. Mlife and TR issued me new accounts.

Just now, I was able to get my stay comped at the Tropicana because they still had my ADT and card number in the computer from 2005.

First and foremost: the casinos store your information based on your name cross referenced to your address. So if you have changed your name or your address is different since you originally signed up then they will not be able to look up your account number and you would be a new signup.

But beyond that, back before 2007 the casinos didn't fully realize how valuable customer data was and so quite a few casino loyalty programs actually had a policy to entirely delete customer data if their card wasn't used for an extended period of time... so there is a chance your info could be lost that way too.

Either way, what I would do is just go up to the player club's desk and just say you want to sign up. They will scan your ID info and look you up in the system and if they find you then they will reactivate your account, if they don't then they will treat you like a totally new signup.
