Read about this on the Las Vegas Sun site. It opens to the public 8 PM central time. It looks like it could be a really good fit for Biloxi. They called their buffet The Feeding Frenzy, open 24 hours Wed - Sat. Get your chow down on!

 

JB played for the VIP party from 5-7. I guess everyone knows that he grew up just down the road in Pascagoula, MS and his first paid gig as a singer was in Biloxi. I am going down there the first week in June and look forward to checking the place out.

 

Will definitely have to check this out. Haven't been to Biloxi since 2003 when I was in the Air Force and now that I'm in GA it would be a nice extended weekend trip.

 

I frequent Biloxi

Probably 6-8 times a year and another 6-7 to Vegas. Originally they were going to market with Harrah's/CET. Then the hurricane and recession hit. There is a partially completed hotel sitting in the Gulf in front of the piece of shit known as the Grand sits. Its where the hotel was going.

I'm a huge JB fan. Have been for years. His place in Vegas is frankly so-so. His place in Biloxi will fail miserably. Biloxi has barely enough room for the Beau and maybe the Hard Rock. The other places are tiny and don't compete for real gamblers. Only local degens. Anyway, JB's new spot is not on the beach, but instead on the Bay, where the Palace is/was. No one is going out of their way to play there. Worse, they will not be able to take advantage of any marketing database that CET/MGM have.

A terrible decision by JB who oridinarily is an astute businessman. Oh well, he can afford to write off the loss.

 

Jimmy Buffet seemed mighty happy with his new property on the day of the Grand Opening. Maybe it was all those family members and friends from his youth in the crowd or all those college buddies from USM. Either way, I look forward to checking it out with some of the other local degens.

 

I went to Margaritaville Biloxi last weekend and I liked it. There was a good selection of slot machines (which I play), especially Aristocrat slots. They have soda stations so you can get your own drink if you prefer. Attendants walked around the slot floor and took your information and brought the players cards to you. My only minor complaint was that the day I was there, the music seemed a little too loud for my old ears. I will definitely go again.

 

Hey Mary, were you there on the 7th ? The Baboo and I were there that day. To me, there were some things I really liked (cocktail uniforms-even The Baboo thought they were cute) and some I was not really impressed with (7/5 JOB at their one VP bar). I am not sure how their departure from traditional players club operations is going to work. I don't think the concept that they are going with now is going to last. The 2nd floor casinos was very pretty in my opinion but there sure seemed to be a lot of wasted space down on the first floor. We had fun but I can't say that it was overwhelming.

 

We going to stop in Biloxi tomorrow. Where is this casino? I know where Beau, IP, Hard Rock, and Grand Biloxi are at. Dies the little casino shuttle bus make a stop there?

 

I am pretty sure that the Casino Hopper makes a stop at Margaritaville. If you drive, as you are headed east on the beachfront highway, take a left on the street just before you get to the Grand. Go across the railroad tracks and another 5 or so blocks. Look for a brand new road with a median dividing the 4 lanes going off to the East. (to the right of your road) You should see a large blue building with Margaritaville on the front.

 

I understand that their stated policy is "There is no such thing as Free Play" Other casinos afford to give free play by tightening their slots, Margaritaville has loosened them all and therefore gives no free play.

 

We were just there last Tuesday and did enjoy it--colorful and a fun atmosphere.
Good drink service and friendly employees.
We were already told by one employee that they are already talking about expanding and a change to their slot club idea so we shall see.
The hopper does go their now also.
And of course it is new but everyone we talked to at our hotels had either gone there or were planning on it

 

We went tonight and my initial impressions are:

It's very small. No baccarat and only 1 craps tsble, however they offer 20x odds!
No hotel? Wtf is this some tribal casino in Oklahoma?
Nice and new with a new casino buzz
Good staff but weak cocktails
I met one of the volcano girls, wow she was smoking hot!
No players club booth, just flag down a guy and he'll make you a card...I didn't even bother signing up
Good VP payables with adjustable volume controls.

So some good some bad. I doubt I'd ever go back.

 

Appreciate the feedback from everyone on this. I will certainly stop in the next time I'm in Biloxi. The promise of good VP pay tables is lure enough and I'd love to experience "loose" slots just once in my life! My expectation though is that those slots will gradually tighten up as the players club builds more benefits in order to garner loyalty.

 

I didn't play any slots and only $100 in VP. $50 in .25 denom then $50 at $1 denom. I played DB and DDB both were 9/6...not hooked up to a progressive tho. Best I could find at the Beau was 8/5...only 9/6 anything I saw was a $25 machine!
