Tix4Tonight - good/bad?

What are your experiences with Tix4Tonight?

Our trip is planned for late September Fri-Sun, we may see a show but are not set on a particular show, night or seat. We are thinking about a top tier show, Absinthe or something big like that. What are the chances of getting tickets to a top show from Tix4Tonight.

What about a second tier show or a show that necessarily won't sell out?

We got tickets from them for Absinthe during our visit Thanksgiving week last year. We have actualy used them for several shows and a dinner deal and would definitely use them again.

 

I've used them. It's a good service as long as you don't mind waiting in line. Also, it is best to be flexible with a show you're willing to see. 3 mos ago I wanted to buy tickets to Love, but they were sold out so we purchased KA instead. The key to having a good selection of tickets is to arrive early in the morning.

 

I've used them twice, once years ago for Zumanity, and once this last trip for Absinthe. 5 years ago, the tickets were truly half price and there was no hassle. This time, I want to say we maybe saved $10 or $15 bucks? Also, as mentioned in a recent trip report, the up selling is getting out of control. "Where are you eating dinner tonight? How long are you staying? What about lunch tomorrow?" It was still worth it, but the line took about 30 minutes (by the M&M factory), and I'd say it could've been 10 minutes if they hadn't been trying to sell me the farm.

 

I've never had a problem using Tix4Tonite. Always a good discount for using them, and almost all the shows I've been to in Vegas have been sold there. I know that some use them for restaurant coupons too.

The only negatives to be aware of:

1) Lines: Not always, but sometimes there can be a lineup (for me its never been worse than 20 minutes). A bit inconvenient, but not a reason not to use them.

2) Double box office: For some shows, tix4tonite just gives you a receipt/voucher for a seat that you must redeem at that show's box office (because they can't assign seats themselves). That can be occasionally inconvenient as you are going to 2 locations to get your tickets sorted, and occasionally going to the show's casino earlier than you otherwise would have planned.

 

Like all things people will have different experiences. We used the one at the M&M next to MGM. The line for me was the problem. We stood in it for over an hour and half of that was outside on the side walk in 100 degree heat. I wouldn't do it again. I'm on vacation, saving $40 - $50 just isn't worth it when I could be doing something enjoyable with that time. When we did it there was no upsell or anything like that. As a bench mark I have zero tolerance for timeshare and pornslap people.

I've never seen much of a line at the outlet downtown.

 

A lot of talk about lines, but I guess a lot of people don't realize they have special promos for people who use mobile phones. I got in line, and 4 minutes later, after going to their website to look for promos, got a txt from them giving me VIP line access and no service charges. Definitely a win-win, and they don't spam your phone afterwards, either.

 

Lots of good information here, I guess you have to factor in convenience, if you want to take advantage of this you have to budget time and have nothing else you want to do at 10:00 a.m. and make sure you are near one of the outlets. Then depending on the show you could spend another hour getting to the box office to get your actual seat.

We are staying at Flamingo, so it will be easy to drop into Bill's, but being east coasters we are usually up and out early.

Can people share how much they actually saved? Face value vs paid?

I waited in line once for some tickets. I stood there in the blazing heat for about 40 minutes and the line did not move at all. I swear the lady in at the counter was either getting a mortgage or setting up a corporation or something because she was taking forever. i finally said screw it and left.

Same here. We got tix to absenthe about an hour before the show with no problems. $75 all in per ticket. We were seated in the back but once everyone was seated the people who were in the last rows were moved closer. Not that it really mattered since that tent is so small. We could have seen Angel Perinos wonderful tits from the last row just fine

 

There are lots of outlets to choose from. I like to use the one at Fashion Show Mall -- it doesn't ever seem to have a line. The one at Bill's also seems to move people along. I don't think that the discounts are as deep as they used to be, but there is still some value there. That having been said, if there is a show that you simply must see on a particular day, it is a big gamble to wait. This is particularly true for the Cirque du Soleil shows. If you hang out around the outlets, you find about 2 people a minute asking "do you have Cirque du Soleil?"

 

I have no issue with them, but you just never know what they will have. It usually seems to be the less exciting shows...

Often times you can find a deal before you go. Like the Cirques are on special right now with the Summer of Cirque deal.. Smarter Vegas always has Blue Man for 35% off...

Will agree the wait can be an issue, but my wife will wait 30 minutes to save $10.
Used them for smaller stuff like the Wax Museum, Mob Tour, Titanic and one or two other things. Not a huge savings for these items, but if doing a few items the savings can add up.

 

Except that Ticketmaster (who you have to buy through) adds in their atrocious $12 'convenience charge' - so it's really $8 off. You're almost certainly better off buying from tix4tonight, assuming you're willing to wait in line (as others have indicated).

 

I have used the one at Four Queens with no issues but we used the one at Bill's last week and was not pleased. The line was crazy and the twit trying to upsell you was so annoying...and I am not easily annoyed. With lineups that long they need to KEEP THINGS MOVING!!!!!

I remember reading somewhere that the fellow who started TIX4TONITE was an owner in the first discount ticket outlet (now defunct) and parted ways to start his own (TIX) for whatever reason. The original outlet was staffed by kids who seemed to hate to work. I once asked if a show listed had a later performance and got a barely audible reply, "well, if it's available it would be on the board." It was the first year TIX4TONITE opened so I walked up to them and asked. The fellow replied that he'd check. He went on the computer and said that there was and he could get tickets. I was pleased at the extra effort and only went there after that while in LV. That was when they only had one office; now they have several. Some are busier than others, and as far as lines go, if it's hot and there is a long line I won't stop. I'll either go to another location, comeback at a different time, or not go to the show.

If I am sure of the date that I want to see a performance I usually buy through GoldstarEvents. They have great seats and are a bit cheaper than TIX. You brink your letter of confirmation to the box office the day of the performance to get your seat assignment. The trick is to find out when the box office opens and be there early on. GEnerally tickets are sold by section, like orchestra, blacony etc. and they assign tickets at the box office when picked up. I have never been disappoointed and often get my choice.

That being said, sometimes I just feel like seeing something and will stop in to see what's available. The choices differ and sometimes you have seating choices (section). If yu return for more tickets within a day or two they give you a discount on their service charge and you can use a VIP line if it is crowded. One little trick I learned is to check in around 6:3o when sometimes good shows have a few unsold tickets. It is often just written on a white board. One night I stopped in and Blue Man Group was 69.00 and Celine was 82.50. The next night there written on the white board was Celine Dion, 1st row balcony....best cheap seats in the house. There was no price so out of curiosity I asked how much and he said that the guy just picked up the tickets but they were 82.50. Want em he asked, I can call him on his cell. Offer him fifty bucks, he'll take it! Hell, offer him $30. I didn't feel well, that night or I probably would have sprung for $30 even not being a fan. I did think if was nice of the guy to go the extra mile though.

I stop in if lines are short and have no problem with their prices or having to trade vouchers for tickets, and I have never been pressured to buy anything else.......that is a big turnoff for me and the best way to lose me as a customer. If they ask I just say , "no thanks".
