Treasure island - rooms on a budget

Hi all

we are flying in from england in June. we are booked in to stay at TI for 5 nights thru expedia.

never stayed at TI before so does anyone have any tips on what the best rooms are ( 2 queens ), maybe try the $20 trick.

Also, i think i have only gambled there once, has anyone any advice on where the best places to gamble ( low stakes $10-$15 ) are around that area of the strip.

Any opinions on the hotel are also welcome!

Make sure to ask that your room is not behind the Sirens of TI show! I stayed there once last June and I was right behind the fireworks. All the rooms are very nice. They were renovated not long ago from what I remember and it has a very masculine and earthy tone. Yet the bathroom does show some age but it is very spacious. They do need to put in a small refrigerator. I say all around a good hotel. Good food. Price is reasonable. Better than the Wynn across the street. Love that Vietnamese cafe and the 24-hour diner adjacent to it. If you want to head to the Mirage they have a tram connected to each other. Never played there though since they only had one bac table and I stayed there because it was across from the Wynn/Encore.

 

The most common "upgrade" that I have heard of at TI is the corner rooms at the end of the halls that have windows on two sides of the room. These do provide some nice views but I do not care for the way it makes the room lat out, the TV is kind of on the side of the bed. I prefer to ask for a high floor with a view of the pool. This gives you a great look at the length of the strip looking past Mirage.
As for lower limits, TI usually has a decent selection in the $10-$15. If you are looking for Cheaper, you can try Imperial Palace or the Riviera.

 

I really liked TI when I stayed for 5 nights last year. Great location, don't have to walk through acres of casino to get to the room elevators, and the strip view room I had was pretty nice.

Enjoy the restaurants at venetian and wynn across the street, and cab it to downtown for cheap gambling, or go to casino royale just a bit south on the strip.

 

A good selection of places to eat there. The gambling is just ok as far as the Slot selection but you have plenty of other options all close together.
You are also right next door to a large mall with plenty of shopping (if interested) and additional places to eat.

 

TI is pretty good. I had a strip view room there, and the room was fairly nice -- nothing special, but clean, comfortable beds with nice linens, and a nice bathroom. I would consider an upgrade to that if you're in a lower room tier.

The casino is decent for table games. I played blackjack there and did okay. There were $10-15 tables with reasonable rules on a busy weekend -- this was two years ago, mind you. Cocktail service at the tables was a little slow but not too bad.

The big annoyance about the place are the elevators. You have to use your room key to operate them. Nice security feature, but the key slot doesn't always work, and I ran into people more than once who were idly riding the elevators waiting for someone to get off at their floor.

Location is terrific. Venetian across the street, Mirage right next door.

 

TI is a decent mid-level choice. I have stayed twice, once in an end hallway room, with the 2 windows, and once with a strip view. Both rooms were fine.

It depends on what is most important to you. Some people die for a strip view, others do not care. One word of warning - the train tracks are relatively close at the back of TI and the train honks the horn very loudly at about 4am.

Work out what is most important to you and ask for it!

You are at a good casino for low level gambling. You did not mention games but $10-$15 BJ and $10 craps are widely available at TI. I played double deck BJ at a $10 table last trip. That is rare on the strip.

 

I think T.I. probably represents the best bang for the buck among the mid tier strip places. The rooms, IMO, are much better than the “average” mid-tier hotel rooms and the prices are usually similar or lower. As others have mentioned, you can still find decent low limit gambling (no place offers “good” low $ gambling on the strip, so “decent” is about all you can hope for really). There are good mid-range dining options available that won’t break the bank. And if you want fine dining, you’re right across the street from Wynn, Encore, Venetian and Palazzo. The free tram to Mirage is also fairly convenient.

The $20 bribe got me the aforementioned end room with the second window and a bottle of cheap sparkling wine sent up to my room (of course the $10 I felt obligated to tip the guy bringing it was worth more than the wine, but hey, it’s Vegas…). As has been mentioned, the TV position is a bit odd for these rooms. But, I think the extra light that the second window lets into the room is a worth having an oddly placed TV. (And besides, all of our TV shows are just recycled British ones, so you’ve already seen them, minus the accent and extra explosions.)

 

Back when TI was our home base those corner rooms came king-only.
