Treasure Island 2/14-2/18

We stayed at Treasure Island 2/13-2/18 for our 5th Wedding Anniversary. Nice hotel and easy to get around. Every time we requested something (ironing board, corkscrew, etc.. it was there in less than 5 minutes)

2/14 Valentine’s Day (our anniversary): went for a “couples massage” at the Canyon Ranch Spa at the Venetian. It was very relaxing. Nice spa with great service. Had a quick bite to eat at Kahunaville (Treasure Island). Good food and atmosphere. Drinks were overpriced with no alcohol. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around the canal shops in the Venetian. It was a busy day there with a lot of brides and grooms all over the place. Had dinner at the Buccaneer Bay Club at Treasure Island. Great service and food. Asked for a good table and got a window view overlooking the pirate battle.(even on Valentine’s Day!) Went to see “Mystere”. Awesome! Completely indescribable. Worth every penny!

2/15 Friday: Had buffet lunch at Bellagio. Very nice buffet. It ended up being about $22 per person because it was a holiday weekend they had a brunch. We had drinks at a bar in the lobby area. Wonderful atmosphere. This is definitely my favorite hotel. We walked around the Aladdin Shop area. Went to the New York New York Hotel. I won a free roller coaster ride through wagerworks. My husband said it was great (I was too chicken). We tried to get into the Times Square Bar but it was so loud we couldn’t even hear each other talk. I did not really care for this hotel. It was very loud with tons of kids. Very dark casino. I think they have a nice selection of stores. Had another quick dinner at Kahunaville. This time it was very busy. The bartenders were throwing the bottles around like the movie “cocktail”.

2/16 Saturday: Took a day trip to the Valley of Fire. Very pretty. Had dinner at Canalletto in the Venetian. Great food and pretty low price ($57 for 2 people with appetizers and drinks) Went to “Allegro” in Bellagio for drinks. Saw a very good jazz band there. Watched the fountains. Definitely recommend this! Walked over to Paris hotel and had coffee and desert.

2/17 Sunday: Had champagne brunch at the Paris hotel. It was very busy and they told us to come back in an hour. When we came back we still had to wait about 20 minutes in line. This was the best buffet we’ve had. Made to order omelet’s, shrimp, crab legs, bananas foster!! Spent the rest of the day in the casino and relaxing. Later that night we went to the “hideaway lounge” in our hotel. Great wine selection and a good jazz band.

Vegas was extremely busy!! Everything was packed on Saturday and Sunday. I was very surprised to see so many kids there too. Weather was great (65-70). Flights from Boston were not so great. Flew in on Wed. night and got stuck in Phoenix for a couple of hours while they decided what plane to use! Went down the runway and ended up turning back to switch planes again! Security was very tight – which is a good thing but I can’t help but feel nervous when I see it. I was frisked and my husband was pulled aside on the way home to be checked over. Flight home was ok – no food. Only 1 soda as soon as we leveled off. Wasn’t given anything else to drink. Anyway – had a great time!

Sure! A couples massage is 2 people (my husband and I) in the same room. They have 2 massage beds and 2 massage therapists. You could also do this with a friend. The spa is beautiful. They have a rock climbing wall, workout equipment, a cafe... I sat in the wirlpool for a while and someone came over an offered me ice water and ice towels (towels packed in ice). They also provided this service to the people in the sauna. They had a very relaxing waiting area. Lots of sofas. They provided juices, fruits, water.. There are men's and womens locker areas. The women's area had lockers, a vanity area with hairspray, gel, brushes, hairdryers, deorderant...etc... I would highly reccommend this spa. I have also been to Treasure Islands spa on our visit in April and had planned to go back their but the prices had skyrocketed. At Canyon Ranch, it was $230.00 for a 1 hour massage (for the both of us). This price included the tip and use of the spa.

 

Great report jenniag, glad to hear my favourite hotel is still up to par. Will be there 24th - 28 and can't wait. Will have to check out Kahunaville.

I've always wanted to do the Spa thing with my wife, but she just won't take the time away from the other Vegas stuff she likes to do. Maybe someday....

 

HOLY COW (and I don't mean the casino!) That's 46 prime rib dinners at San Remo, you know!

They said they got a good rubbing; I would consider it a good screwin! hehehe

Sounds like you had a great vacation, Jenniag! When I was in Vegas over Thanksgiving, we spent a few hours at TI (which had previously been my favorite hotel) and got some appetizers at Kahunaville. For a chain restaurant, it was awesome. The bartenders were great, the food was some of the best I had while in Vegas (shrimp potstickers..mmm)--but I agree! My drink was overpriced.

Isn't Allegro just the coolest place in the world? I felt so sophisticated when I went to that lounge. I need their recipe for a drink we had..Sunrise Something..
