    My Trip Report

I just returned from another trip to Vegas and I hate how depressed I get when I come home. Overall the trip was good although I probably had more fun last time. There were 4 girls going, and we met up with a few people there.

The flight there was fine (Westjet) arrived on time and no issues. However when we got to the Flamingo we were pretty annoyed. Even though we had reserved our rooms back in May we were told they had no rooms left with two beds. Our options were to transfer to smoking rooms (yuck), to move rooms through the trip or pay for the GO room. I wouldn't back down and eventually we got the GO room for $20. I have to say I was totally NOT impressed with the room. Not only was our room so small I was constantly tripping over everything - the girls we went with up graded as well for the same price and their room was easily double the size of ours. They have this couch thing shoved in one corner taking up too much room and then with the sliding bathroom door you can't use that area at all. Also how the bathroom door doesnt actually close is odd until you get used to it. Had the room been bigger I would have been ok as the decor was fine, as was the bed and the shower was amazing.

I played some slots the first night and won around $400 which was a great start to the trip. I was playing Stinking Rich and in the end of one bonus ended up with 98 free spins. I won a bit more here and there the next day however that was the end of the winning.

We went to Men of X at Hooters Casino and I have to say it was a lot of fun. A lot of audience interaction. I won't lie - it was raunchy and cheesy but thats what those shows are for. After the show we went to Dixies Dam Bar and had a blast dancing to 80s/90's/today. Everything from MC Hammer, to NKOTB, Michael Jackson, etc.

Friday, myself and 2 others had tickets to Greenday at Mandalay Bay. It was a great show...that is until I got kicked out. I am still furious. They say it was because I had a camera but so did 80% of the crowd, including the chick who video taped me getting kicked out and yet they didn't say a word to her. Mandalay Bay security apologized to me and said it was total bull crap I was being asked to leave. For sure left a bad taste

Saturday was cloudy/rainy so sucked for pool time. However at night we went off the strip a bit to meet friends at a Mexican restaurant called Benetio something something. LOL great food, cheap prices and huge portions.

Sunday was cloudy again and in the evening we attempted to go to the pianos in NY, NY however it was dead in there. I have always heard it was packed and to get there early but not that night. For dinner we ate at Canaletto in the Venetian and I highly recommend it. The food has been great any time we have gone there.

Monday we got brave and decided to hit the GO pool. Lets just say that was an adventure. There was a huge group there (I would say lots of small groups that met there). As the day went on they got more and more wild. A lot of groping and females making out and going at each other. Eventually they got kicked out as it was just too much. I guess if thats what you are looking for it was a cheap price for a show lol.

In the evening we hit the pianos at Harrahs and had a great time. Less smokey than NY, NY and a better vibe. A lot of laughs and a lot of fun.

Tuesday we went to Carnaval Court and again another awesome laid back place. The band was awesome and the show by the bartenders was pretty cool. haha My only complaint was the giant cockroach that followed me around (literally a bug not some creepy guy). The security got a kick of me screaming and freaking out but eventually he killed it for me. Yuck

Overall it was a pretty good trip - it is Vegas afterall and Id rather be there than anywhere else. Sad we had clouds for 2 days but not much can change that. I think the next trip we are going to change hotels. We are thinking maybe Planet Hollywood as we really liked it there.

Bummer on getting wrongfully kicked out

I am on your side, everyone has camera phones. You were robbed of a concert you wanted to see.

Most camera phones comes with the lighter image as a picture just for concerts.

Anyone trying to prevent pictures and videos at concerts is in for an uphill battle. The prevalence of this technology and how small it can be cannot be stopped or prevented.

This defacto concert rule needs to go away.

I keep reading story after story about the Flamingo and poor service but people keep going back there - I don't get it - there is a ton of other choices in Vegas that won't involve getting stressed out on your vacation.....

Great customer service at Flamingo.......not! The Go upgrade should have been automatic and not something you had to pay or fight for!! Did you get reimbursed for your concert ticket? If Security said you shouldn't have been booted, I would think a refund would be in order!!! Sux you had some cloudy days....I enjoy my pool time in Vegas as well, so will keep my fingers crossed for sunny days for my September trip.

    Thanks everyone :)

I have written to Greenday but I doubt much will come from it. I am hoping for at least some sort of explaination as to why I was kicked out. I have pics where you can see everyone else in the background with cameras.

As for the Flamingo the only reason we stay there is because we love the pool so much and the rate is reasonable. We are going back in June so we have already started looking for some good rates elsewhere.

Sounds like a fun girls trip! Too bad about the concert. I'd be mad. Try for the PH. Nice big bathrooms and a fun and young crowd there. It's fun for us mid 50's too. LOL Thanks for posting! :)
