"Isn't the formula for a fun/successful vacation purely personal? Maybe sticking to a budget of $200 and playing slots is exactly their idea of a good time?? "

    Petgomez,

To each his or her own as far as what they consider a fun vacation. My point was that not bringing a sufficient bankroll on your trip, playing a game like slots, and hanging out in low rent casinos does not seem like a "fun" strategy that has any chance of success.

You know, to each his own! $200 bucks is a lot of money. With a new baby on the way this may be the best he could do. Remember, just because this may not seem like a lot of money to you doesn't mean its the same for everyone else.

and. . . ..wheres the rest of the story????? please!!!!!!!!

Eagerly looking for the continuation as well. Sorry your solo trip (from the title) wasn't as enjoyable as you expected, but I would offer a couple suggestions (mileage may vary).

    1. Nothing wrong with a lower budget, but I would suggest doing a daily allowance on a lower budget, putting $40-60 in a slot over the first couple hours on a 200 budget seems like a ton to me, especially if you enjoy gambling, which you seem to do. (I do as well).

    2. Planning things to do, $1 michelobs at CR or cheap margaritas at Bills would be in my plan for a low budget trip to Vegas, maybe the second day had more of this, but I'd really try for some scheduled activities. Solo in Vegas is great with freedom, but can be a bit overwhelming especially if you are losing, because it can be hard to walk away or go do something else.

Good luck with the little one on the way, and as I said, just some suggestions from a solo trip perspective, even with my higher budget, I tend to try and gamble either for a small period in the morning and at night, I try not to gamble during the day, as that budget can blow quick especially on machines and it's so easy to chase. Sounds like you did decide to walk the strip, which is a great time diverter.

hah. I only brought $200 with me on my first trip to Vegas. I was a bit naive, first time gambling. But boy did I have dumb luck! That 200 lasted me 4 days, and we gambled the entire time. I played alot of roulette too because well that's all I understood. I was in Monte Carlo and I put a 5 into a machine and press max bet, then I realized it was a $1 machine and nearly crapped because I just wasted 3 whole dollars..hah. I got a 7 and, i dont know, a double and triple or something. I was all bummed, thinking I lost, but the woman next to me was like 'wow, way to go' Don't remember how much it payed but it was in the hundreds. sweet!

My 3rd trip, our flight left at like 8am so we were up at 4 to get ready and drive to the airport. I'm not the most coherent person at 4am and never realized until I was in my seat on the airplane that I forgot my wallet. OMG!! I had $100 in my pocket and needless to say that was gone in an hour. Called my mom to western union some cash, but she could only spare $250. That was mostly gone that night. EEEEEEEEEK!!! I spent the other 3 days playing penny machines with my buddy for 1 line 1 credit and just drinking the beer. Kinda sucked, but we had tons of fun. Being broke in Vegas also forces you to go find all the free stuff you can, thankfully there's enough to hold you over.

I'm a pretty seasoned gambler now and would never go with less than a couple grand.

I agree with a lot of the posts here in that you limited yourself to such a small gambling budget that you worried over every dollar, spin, and hand you came across...you didn't enjoy yourself because you were worrying over money...you should have gone to a nice beach somewhere while sipping tropical drinks and you would have been much happier. What a shame.
