Back before the online sportsbook was around as a convenient way to offload Caesars reward credits, one method was to dump a bunch of points to partner Wyndham to lighten the RC load when checking out and asking for backend comps (and before that, everything could be moved to Westin and then back).

Anyway, received a reminder to make sure to put some activity on the Wyndham account before the points expire:

Wyndham points are valued at 1.1 cent each, so not much of value in their merchandise/gift card shop -- a $50 gift card goes for 7500 points, or $82.50. Horrible. I ended up doing a 500-point charity donation to keep my points active, and hopefully in the future I'll figure out a Wyndham stay to use the rest of the points. Or I'll just forget and all the points will disappear.

Oh man, just as I spent $300+ purchasing some Wyndham points (30,000 of them in case you're curious) for a specific redemption (in Chicagoland no less!)... perhaps I could have bought them off you instead!

I will say that others have posted that Wyndham points can be very useful under the right circumstances... and I can now personally attest to this.

Just to recount my firsthand experience, I'm going to Tinley Park in mid July to visit @ffejry ... and the hotel options there are kind of limited. For two nights... think $250 to stay at the Super 8 in Mokena ( :vomit: ) , $350+ to stay at the La Quinta Inn (which SEEMED okay but had worrying reviews), or $600+ to stay at Wingate by Wyndham (which looked to be the best of the bunch).

Although I was not ready whatsoever to pay USD $600+ for the better hotel, I did notice that hotel was 15,000 Wyndham points per night... and with a 40% points sale I was able to get just over 30,000 points for a hair over USD $300.

Indeed, you wouldn't need to worry about buying points if you've already earned them through CET gaming/spend. However, in these types of situations where you wouldn't have casino-hotel room comps at your disposal, Wyndham's point rate structure can actually be very beneficial to those who hold a bunch of points when staying in certain places.

My favorite thing I have used Wyndham points for was the New Yorker Hotel in NYC. They really honored diamond benefits. Waived resort fee, upgraded to a city view suite and late check out.

Since I got suites, I had city views in different directions from each room.

Now I'm not Diamond for the first time in forever so I guess I'll just stay in my own apartment before my next cruise leaving from Manhattan. Oh well.
