Flights have been booked and I plan to be downtown for a least one day this trip, possibly a second evening. Last trip I played Bonus Poker at Bar Canada, but it was kinda dead in the later evening. Where's your favourite bar to play at downtown and why?

Vue Bar at the D (good pay tables for BP, good bartenders)

I know Circa is loud and doesn't have the best pay tables but I love playing VP there looking over the sportsbook, sitting at the Over look bar, or at Mega Bar...... also like the Downtown Grand's bar - great service and paytables..... Main Street Station is still has a great VP Bar despite the downgrading of paytables....

Most of them have some decent paytable game available. Pick your favorite atmosphere and play. I think the best payback is the 25¢ BP progressive at the Vue Bar. I, however, like the $1 9/6 JoB play at the Plaza. The Omaha Bar on the casino floor is open all the time but makes crappy drinks. The Sand Dollar Bar has it's own space, opens at 4 pm, and makes very good drinks.

Nothing not already mentioned but some thoughts.

The D (Vue) - Hard to beat the paytables and progressives for quarter BP. Solid bartenders/drinks. Not as loud as downstairs.
The D (Bar Canada) - Paytables suck, but multi-hand on low denom is available with STP. Better "scenery" with the bartenders vs. everywhere else to switch things up.
Circa (Megabar) - Awesome tap beer selection. BP Deluxe is the game here based on paytables. Likely more of an atmosphere you'd like if Bar Canada was too quiet.
Plaza (Sand Dollar) - Full pay BP/JOB @ .50 denom or above. Best drinks/bartenders, solid rotating beer options too. Good music (live bands at times too)...although some weird deep cuts at times.
El Cortez (Ike's Bar) - Not great choices with paytables, but they have Guinness on tap.

If you spell 'favourite' with a 'u,' I'd imagine you might like Bar Canada at the D.

Furnace Bar at the Downtown Grand is a quality VP spot. Excellent progressives make it a positive EV game on occasion.

The Vue Bar is my favorite, though. Excellent paytables for quarter games and top notch bartending.
I wish I could say Ike's because I love the ElCo, but those paytables are horrible and I'll only play there when I have freeplay.

Another vote here for the Vue Bar. Its one of my favorite spots in the world. Paytables, progressives, and good bartenders.

Thanks all! Vue bar sounds like a winner. I'll probably check out a couple others as well. (I've been to Fremont a dozen times and always forget MSS exist, but always swing by DTG and the El Co. o_O)

My favorite for BP is The Vue Bar at The D. If I'm playing UX, I like to play over at Circa at the Overhang Bar to watch a game or a race. If I just want to disappear and be left alone, I like the very last spot at the Bar Prohibition at The Golden Gate as it's nice and dark like a proper bar should be.

Boar’s Head Bar at Main Street Station, say 2016 or so. When did they upgrade the machines but still had good VP?

My drink taste is pretty midshelf, but I've never been denied a reasonable ask. I haven't pushed any edges though.

I do my best to be nice to the bartenders (and people in general) and am a solid but not extravagant tipper.

There's a Latino early-mid 40s guy from Detroit (I may be blocking on details/name) who has been there the Sunday mornings I've been at Vue and he makes a mean drink (and is a good conversationalist)

I wonder how many favorites lists the 4Q bars would've made if they hadn't downgraded paytables.

My vote is for Vue Bar.

    Boar's Head Bar at MSS.
Why: You can play any machine you want, or multiple machines if you can.

As of when? I was just about to name off 4Q due to their nice selection of decent paytables.

I was impressed by my first visit to Circa Mega Bar. But it was just too noisy for me...next time I sit there I will wear some industrial ear defenders.

Around 2 years ago the .50 and $1 DDB on the bar tops was downgraded from 10/6. The .25 DDB progressives were downgraded, too.

I jump around and I don't exactly play perfect strategy, I just slow play for drinks.
Usually at the Fremont main bar or Sports bar or upstairs at the D.
Also, Megabar at Circa for great beer selection.
I wish I could play at 4Q but I can't stand that cold air curtain at the bar.

I like playing at the Vue at The D, and the Omaha Bar at Plaza. Not a bar, but I also enjoy playing the $1 JoB coin-droppers at The Cal.
