brutal golf round but pool time and happy hour with my besties

 

Hip was actually acting up a bit so taking tomorrow off pool day only after gym no walk no golf.

had some good drives on the par 5s leaving reachable second shots but essentially FUBAR most.

Happy Hour with pool buddies @ Zipps then N Scottsdale Chic aka Golf BFF picked me up for drinks @ Tommy Bahama. Always the best time with these guys.

need the day off from golf as Alex called (tequila shot girl from golf a week or so ago) and wants to play a couple more times. So now I’m booked for golf 13 of the next 15 days lmfao.

the boys arrive in 8 days so it’s gonna be a real shit show from now thru the final four and the masters trip.

Early morning golf victory @ Firerock followed by lunch and a fantastic day of pool, singing and shenanigans with my Wisconsin buddies family!

Had a lot of great shots and a lot of brutally bad shots, but more or less figured out the issue in the end so overall a successful day on the golf course.

It was NOT the worst day ever, spent with 3 “smoke shows”, 18 holes with my golf buddy Steph, dinner with my BFF N Scottsdale Chic, and finally some quality time with my new Callaway AI Smoke golf bag!

 

Quality golf practice and pool day. Ate NOTHING til a salad at 6pm after that ridiculous feast last night. Cool view from my haircut this morning. My 3 wood and 5 wood arrived!




Big match tomorrow: N. scottsdale Chic and I vs 70 year old pool buddy and 75 year old scratch golfer buddy. Exciting to put the new clubs into play!

The boys arrive in 2 days!

Vegas trip on drive home coming into focus. NYC Chic and N. Scottsdale Chic are coming. @Kakha is a maybe depending on his recovery from his 3rd penile reduction operation. It’s a small fraternity of men who’ve had to suffer multiple penile reductions and our poor friend counts himself a charter member

we will be meeting longtime Vegas friend JoeyBagz and her sister and other Baltimore friends.

as for itinerary I’ve booked morning golf the first 4 days (Wed-Sat) at Bali Hai. Playing close and early is the only way to make it back to the pool early. Rented daybeds Fri and Sat once the girls show up. Only one dinner reservation Javier’s Friday. Prob hit lemongrass and grand lux ad hoc. Drink and gamble nightly with the larger crew and hit Foundation room Saturday night and Tao Beach pool party for Cinco De Mayo.

should be a pretty epic trip!

And Scottie Scheffler has made me some bank the last couple of weeks at a $25 bet a pop because of a Draft Kings +300 odds boost because math says that's better for the favorite. After his Players' win (still can't believe that lip out by Clark), they took the promo away. Lol

Also hit a 3 -way dead heat on Rory leading R1! Great couple of weeks golf betting!

 

Great day of golf yesterday with NSC & BJ vs the old guard. They smoked us by 2 but we did have our best team score!

Great first day with the boys and I got TOTALLY CARRIED at golf, the boys were up 4 late and my partner birdied 3 straight holes all with her shots to get us back to even going into 18. Again I blew my drive into the water and she clutched up driving one long down the speed slot. I did use my first shot in 4 holes to get us green side in two on the par 5 but the son’s friend chipped in for eagle and the victory. i have now lost to eagle on this hole at least 5 times

super fun day with the boys. After getting carried yesterday I put in a much better effort today. We are playing a 36 hole tourney for $100, I’m up 6 after day one. Playing ball down everywhere no gimmies, etc.

the score didn’t reflect because it was the windiest day yet but I putted especially well making a ton of putts. My usual partner/bff North scottsdale chic said “where was that yesterday” She’s in Vegas this weekend lol.

Just a real special day for the young man from Nebraska via Chicago-NYC-Miami-Las Vegas-Scottsdale lol. Today was Round 2 of our “Shamrock Scottsdale Mini-Major” featuring round 2 leader BeeeJay vs the clearly rusty duo of Seany and Kev, respectively a top 3 player on the Shamrocks golf team and the actual Captain of said team.

As by far the shortest hitter in the match, and also playing in horrible weather both rounds, rain and excessive wind for Scottsdale, I fully expected to take a major beat down. Especially after being reminded by N. Scottsdale Chic of my poor performance in our team match Friday.

As things would have it the Rusty boys let me build a solid lead with a non descript ball striking round but amazing putting round in round 1 86 to 92 and 93. That 6 stroke lead was never in danger as I was able to display an IMMACULATE short game overcoming a day of absolute shanked irons and inconsistent driving.

A real strength was the fairway woods and recovery shots, but for the second straight day putting was the star of the show.

Today is the big round at TPC Stadium, the course on which the WM Phoenix open is played. I’ll be joined by my friend Steph, a golf ringer, in facing the boys in a Best Ball Match (not scramble today, as everyone wants an own score for their handicaps).

I've noticed you wear a lot of Good Good polos. How's the fit of those compared to other brands you wear? I was thinking about ordering some online and wasn't finding much fit commentary in online forums. I usually wear a M in Peter Millar which I have way too many of and need to branch out. As the owner of a middle aged dad bod, I stay away from the really tight/slim young guy stuff.

 

Your little boy is getting so tall. (I can say that because I remember the toddler pics.)

 

They are fantastic quality and i think if you are Peter Millar M would be same for GG or Breezy as they seem to fit a little large for me. The one major issue I have with these two brands is "un-tuck-ability"....they are long, so MUST be tucked for me. Not ideal after a few days of buffet-style eating. If you like tucking, they are great and high quality, worth the price to me.

 

Totally appreciate that. He's been my best friend in the world for 15+ years. A very cute toddler. I know these reports seem like a lot of fun and games, but there has been a lot of hard work and sacrifice behind the scenes and it is very gratifying to see these kids flourish and I'm immensely appreciate of that.
