There's nothing definitive yet. My recollection is that some plans were submitted about putting a tower on that space, but nothing has been finalized or approved.
NOTHING has been announced. They have vague plans and did get FAA approval for a certain height but nothing else has happened or announced. Lots of rumors and no facts.
Well, what's not rumor is that the current FAA approval for new tower construction on that site expires, I believe, at the end of this year. I don't know if that means construction must commence before that expiration (possible) or be completed by that date (seems impossible). But either way, Best Western has to do something in the coming months or go back to start
To add to the rumor mill. I heard just a few days after FAA approval that the hold up was they were having trouble with funding for the new project. So long I dont even remember where I heard it. Hell I may have read it here.
Theory Tom is 75 Margaret 97 The value of the property is tied to what can be built Could this just be for estate planning?
Speculating, but I struggle to imagine the Elardis spending $1B+ on their own, especially at these interest rates. The logical answer seems like a partnership or a sale to someone like Ruffin or even (gasp) a new tower for Harrahs It's a much better location, but the struggles of FB and RW have to have some money people gunshy about going indepdendent
Spent a lot of time in there a few weeks ago. According to George, one of the longtime bartenders, they are not going anywhere and the owners have no intention of leaving.
I am trying to remember if McDonalds, Outback and Denny's are part of the Casino Royale property and therefore if they will also be displaced if this project goes forward.
please tell me the hot dog place will stay! I go there at least once every trip. $3.49 for a foot long is great (by todays standards). I know it will not be popular opinion but I would love to see CET Take it over (but not as another tower to Harrahs) I like having lots of casinos to hop around and gamble at and adding another to the mix would be nice. I have a hard time gambling much at any solo casino location. If I just want one casino I will go to my Local and save the flights and other expenses. I want to bounce around. I actually hit every single CET casino twice in a single day on my last trip. It just helps kill time when you need to slow down the gambling
Yes they are all part of the Casino Royale property. But there is no known "project". Nothing is happening until it happens. All they did was ask the FAA if they would allow a building that tall there. Maybe they are thinking of selling, had an unsolicited offer from someone that wanted the question answered, or one of the Elaris had a dream about building a high rise.
Based on recent history, I would expect to see Casino Royale imploded and replaced with a high end Fashion Mall. The roof will be used to squeeze in a MLS stadium (Las Vegas could use a pro sports team really badly) and a new fully immersive entertainment venue designed in the shape of an ellipsoid and covered in wraparound LED screens to make it the largest billboard in the world. I expect it to go over budget shortly after it starts construction.
I think this is partly true but it's funny to me that self inflicted issues both those places had would cause others to have second thoughts. The normal process should be "What did they do wrong and how can we avoid it?" not "well, it must be the market's fault so let's wait" It's very much the Skinner meme:
while I agree, a fair amount of the problem is the lack of a player database, and the Elardis can't overcome that without a partner who has one
