My wife and I can't always each eat a huge steak, etc. Is it classless to share a meal at a fancy place? I don't mind the cost, it's vacation! But I hate to waste and it's not realistic to take part of a meal home when you're in a hotel. BTW, my idea of fancy is Prime at Bellagio, SW at Wynn, and this year we're going to Golden Steer.

My husband and I shared a steak at Prime. Our waiter gave us a weird look at first, but it wasn’t an issue doing so. We were paying customers and the next question the waiter asked was, “Who gets the piece with the bone?” :) when our plates were brought out.

I don’t think you should have a problem. Even less so if you dine at the bar. (My #1 way of dining in LV anyway!!)

I’ve done that several times - app, salad, steak, side all split. Most of those nicer restaurants won’t have an issue with it. If splitting a steak, I usually request the kitchen slice it so it’s easier to just grab pieces rather than trying to cut off chunks in the middle of the table.

A lot of places charge a little extra for sharing a entree, so it's not exactly something unheard of. Most steakhouses side items come ala carte and are even meant to be shared as well.

We split entrees all the time but we usually order a seafood tower or an app or 2 and soup or salad.

Yesterday my wife and I shared a 20 oz dry aged bone in ribeye at Bavette’s. They cut it up for us. She let me eat the bone in part so it was enough for us.

We do all the time. M eats like a bird and my days of shoving 28 oz of Angus in my pie hole are long gone. We share and then often take some home even sharing!

as long as service decent( which is usual) I adjust tip upward for notional full entre.

As above post, we did just this a Bavettes a couple weeks ago. Waiter and bus were were fully attentive with us and no issues.

We share a steak when I grill one because 4 or 5 ounces of cholesterol is enough for me. Mag eats the rest. If we stayed at a place that had a kitchenette we would order two meals- mine would not be steak- and eat leftovers for lunch the next day. Low rolling me never rates a kitchenette in Vegas, though.

FWIW, The Steakhouse at Circus Circus has a plate sharing charge which includes a salad or soup, rice or potato, and vegetable of the day.

In a steakhouse it is no problem.

In a higher end place like Le Cirque or Guy Savoy they are not going to do that because the food has to look a certain way on the plate, presentation is a huge part of their product.

Most fixed menus require the entire table order, so that is not actually a solution at Le Cirque. Guy Savoy looks like it has an a la carte menu, so may work if you both order a la carte, but their fixed menus are for the table as well.

You’re a paying customer. I’ll refrain from colorful language. Some of these portions are stupidly huge. They got a sharing charge no big deal.

We share almost always. Except tasting menus, as mentioned above. When we do a tasting I order the smallest number of items possible and Mike will get a larger one. If you have to get the same number of items then he usually eats some of mine or it just goes to waste. Last time we ate at Carbonne we had a massive amount of veal parm leftover and the busboy told us they sell it by the pound to someone with pigs!

Did you order salads, deserts or apps? My freinds went there and were told there was a minimum per person $150 IIRC. I have always spent more due to bourbon and wine for my wife so can't verify.
