Some people like to dress to the nines at the Center. We like to, especially at a Jazz show. I'll be the one wearing a black Velvet Blazer.

20230825_180055.jpg Had dinner at the Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings, NV last night. The food was excellent with a larger menu than I expected. But don't expect linen, silverware or even dishes. Everything is served in takeout containers, so no dishwashing is needed.

All the Gable and Lombard memorabilia has been moved into a the dinning room. We ate at the bar and listen to some music. Bartending was terrific.
Copper tiled ceiling and pot bellied stove, worn down wood floors. Very very enjoyable.

The south "end" of Las Vegas Blvd. About 35 miles south of LV and about 7 miles north of Primm.

The very first casino I ever set foot into when I was 21 many years ago. Played my first slot machines here (nickels).

    IMG_1328lv.jpg

I remember back when there were table games here including the craps table that was just inside the entrance. SaF seemed livelier back then. When I went in there a few days ago (early afternoon) the place was practically devoid of people and seemed empty and depressing. All there is now is a couple of hundred slot machines and a small gift shop. Now I guess you could call SaF a "dive" casino.

At one time, at least, it was mapped all the way to the state line. Those two casinos on the east side of the expressway had Las Vegas Blvd. addresses.

A little of the innocence of Vegas. Hello Kitty, JLo and Ethel M's Cactus...

While not the first Vegas casino that I stepped into, it had to be one of the first five. I played hours of blackjack there and it was indeed a fun lively casino. A year or so back I stepped into it for the first time in decades and my heart dropped. What a sad, depressing place it has turned into.

Wow, that makes 3 of us! Not my very first Vegas casino, but I did play there my first night in Vegas. IIRC, they had $1 BJ and $1 or $2 craps. Didn't they also have that giant slot machine outside on the wall, or am I thinking of somewhere else?

But, yeah, I walked through S-a-F last year on a Sunday morning. I walked nearly the length of the casino until I saw another human being -- and he was the security guard. Kinda eerie!
