Penn State couldn’t quite pull off another upset - but it was a much closer game at the very end than I expected. Plus we’re in the tournament this year - the real one. Which is exciting. Also got some good time in watching golf and hockey (Go Pens Go). Currently down $500 on ~$17,500 coin in. The new curved bartop machines at Omaha Bar are very nice. Up in the room to clean up a bit for dinner and charge my phone. My least favorite thing about plaza is no internet connection on casino floor. And I get limited cell signal - so apologies for long periods of radio silence.

Eliza, Did you ever know that you're my hero?

The amount of time you get to spend in Vegas and the coordination that you have spreading your play and comps around is fun to watch! Honestly you're a true Vegas degen but in the best way since you are lucky enough to work remotely and be able to balance your time efficiently. Congrats on the royal!!

Met a couple friends for early happy hour dinner at Oscar’s.

    I had a pink drink.

After dinner, checked out Sand Dollar. It was not going well - I was down $1,500. Decided to do one more buy in and got that gorgeous Royal Flush. Finished up $2,500 on VP and $25 on slots.

It was pretty quiet when we first went in. So I had a nice little chat with bartender. They will comp anything up to $10. But there is also a light system on machines and they can comp specialty drinks if you trigger the light. This seems different than the lights system used at Omaha bar, but I’m not 100% sure. I was drinking pretty slow. Got a pink drink when I first sat down, but when I was ready for second was able to get a specialty cocktail with no problem.

Congratulations on the royal! I am so jealous. I have to keep reminding myself that you play way more dollar VP than I do and this is why you have gotten eleventy billion dollar royals compared to my never got a dollar royal.

@eliza Can you divulge what a pink drink is? They look tasty!

What does one say to a cocktail waitress/bartender to order one? Will they know what you mean if you just say "I'll have a pink drink, please"? Thanks in advance!

How fast do you usually play? I've heard it takes a lot to trigger the specialty drink light there. 50c level won't do it I think.

I would like to try a specialty drink there, but i probably would worry about the swings of dollar JoB.

It’s a deep dish chocolate chip cookie. And we added vanilla ice cream. I’m not sure if it’s the best dessert downtown - Barry’s has excellent desserts - but it’s very good. Crispy edges, gooey center. Nom.

I’m pretty sure this board made up the “pink drink” moniker - I just ran with it. Mine is a vodka, soda, splash cranberry. That’s how I order it; but I should start to train some of my regular bartenders to recognize “pink drink”.

I play pretty fast. It seemed like it took a long time of sustained play at the dollar level before I noticed bartender hitting the button on back of machine. (He had said he has to that for accounting purposes, but if he saw it was ready he’d make sure and hit it even if I wasn’t ready for a drink right then.). I’d say it’s more equivalent to a virtual drink ticket process than the normal light system. The specialty cocktails are only $13. I’d just pay for one rather than trying to up play to qualify - it would almost certainly be cheaper.

Had a few minutes in between meetings today. Lost $100 on a quick bartop session but earned enough points for a free slice of pizza and drink. Added some garlic knots to round out the meal.
