    Hello everyone!!

My name is Deb, and I am from a small college town NE of Pittsburgh, PA.

Anyone heard of Slippery Rock? 'Cause that's the name of the college and my home town.

My husband and I started going to Vegas when Flamingo was still a Hilton property, about 10 years ago. This year we have been to Vegas 3 times, and our next trip is booked for 1/2008.

We love Vegas because it is always evolving, and it has great shopping , eating establishments, and shows.

I hope to become an active member of this site.

My dad tells me that during the Badger home football games at Camp Randall (Univ of Wisconsin) they would announce the scores of the Big Ten games in progress ... and the score of the Slippery Rock game. Don't know why.

Hello -- I'm from NYC, though recently moved to Long Beach, CA.

I'm not sure how many times I've been to Vegas. It's hard to remember all the jaunts I took in college, but since then, I've only been back a few times.

My next trip will be this January to celebrate my 30th Birthday. Going with a bunch of my girlfriends. (Hubby will be away on business.) Should be loads of fun.

Welcome divahound! I too have completely lost count of the number of trips I've made to Vegas, but any excuse to celebrate there is a good one. You and your girlfriends are going to have an absolute blast!

    Hello board!

I am from Calgary, Alberta. I go to Vegas anywhere between 2 and 5 times a year now. My first trip was in 1984 and I stayed at the El Rancho (Turnberry Place). I am truly a Vegas-a-holic. I found this board through Vegas Mikey's blog.

    Newbie here...

    Hello all!
I am so glad to be a part of this community.
I have only been to Las Vegas one time, but am anxiously awaiting the next trip.
I am 57 yrs young, married for 34 years and have one daughter and 2 beautiful granddaughters.
My hubby and I have been going to Reno for years, and in 2005, we decided to try Las Vegas. We planned and planned. For us, this is pretty major expensewise. Anyway...the time finally came and off we went. We drove from the Seattle area....hit the worst late season snow storm in ages...took 22 hours to get to Reno...then...I got sick....4 days later, we left for Las Vegas....I was soooooo excited. Took a wrong turn..:grrr:.instead of 7 hours, it took 14!! go figure!
We finally saw the beautiful lights of Vegas. It was the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen!!!! Since we were on a strict budget, we stayed at Terribles...not that bad folks....not fancy, but certainly clean. My hubby headed for the strip...me to bed...sick the whole time we were there.....I only saw our hotel and the Flamingo...for about an hour before I had to go back to our hotel and to bed....3 DAYS!!!!!!! No Las Vegas!! Boo Hoooo
    BUT...this trip will be different!!!!
My hubby is retiring next fall and our retirement trip is a week in LV....we are flying this time!!! No more cars!!
I am looking forward to helpful hints from all of you and reading about your adventures.
We have a year to plan....a must for us financially...so that we can have a great time. We are not big on the shows, although, we may try the Legends show...We are interested in medium priced restaurants and the best places to play the slots, BJ and PGP. Any hints would be great...
thank you so much for letting me share in your experiences.

Welcome Tea....sorry to hear about your first LV experience :(

But....how about you make the next trip your "first" LV trip :) The last one didn't count, I would say...so yeah, you are still a Vegas virgin...heehee :)

Definitely search the threads, and if you don't find the info. you need, then just ask away. I'm sure someone on here will have an answer for you!

Teagacat, stop by downtown Las Vegas on your next trip. Among other things, there's a couple of good value restaurants down there.

  16. Hi everyone,

I am new to this board, but have been reading it for the last month. There seems to be a lot of nice posters here with a great deal of information on Vegas. I have been to Vegas about 7-8 times in the last 5 years. I look forward to my trips. So far I have stayed at:

    1. Stardust (my first hotel with hubby of 13 years) went in 1994.
    2. Rio
    3. Luxor
    4. Monte Carlo
    5. MGM
    6. Treasure Island (TI)

    Looking forward to staying at:

    1. Wynn
    2. Planet Hollywood
    3. Paris

I have a LOT of quetions and will probably be checking this site at least once a day.

Thanks for the suggestion...actually, we are planning to spend one day downtown...
We won't be going until next December...one year away....it is my hubby's retirement trip!!
We do plan ahead, and are doing a lot of reading up and question asking..
I would love to get some opinions about the transportation options...so far, our plan is to Taxicab to casinos a ways away and walk back to our hotel....stopping along the way...
I will admit that I am not only a Vegas Newbie, but I am also a country bumpkin, so I need all the help I can get!! To give you an idea...I have been in only 3 taxi cabs in my whole life...I am 57 yrs old!!...I have been on city buses, maybe 5 or 6 times in my life. In our area, if you don't have a car, you are stuck!! So, this "big" city stuff is exciting to me...
Thanks in advance for any suggestions any of you might offer,
    Jan
