Was at NYNY this past weekend. Hardly any enforcement. Yesterday I didn't wear it at all and was only told once to pull it up. Walked to mgm and Mandalay Bay too. No drink in hand.

I'd say 5% were not wearing them. And i'd say 25-35% of people just left it down the whole time they were drinking/smoking.

I see security asking people to mask up and giving them out. Even with people walking around with a drink. Still maybe 10% walking around MGM Grand on Sunday with no mask covering at all. The vast majority with drink in hand, not necessarily actively drinking. Add to that the people doing the nose thing. There are periodic announcements to wear them but people are just ignoring it. There is no social distancing.

Much different at the airport. Spent about 19 hours there over the weekend. Periodic announcements to cover both nose and mouth. Maybe 99% compliance. Most not complying are children (literally).

My bubble of people to observe has been pretty small so far. Airport mask compliance was pretty good, saw a few chin straps. The thing that blew my mind was everyone kept their masks on outdoors as we stood in the heat, waiting for a shuttle. I guess at a certain point it’s just habitual to leave it on, but for me mask + Vegas = sweat = maskne. Oh well, better on than off for now.

When I was checking in, a casual question about how busy they had been recently led me into an inadvertent convo about masks with the check-in lady, a convo I really didn’t want to be in, so I just smiled and nodded.

This is a great thread, very insightful (thank you!). I had a question specifically for those who've been at Bally's/Paris pools the last two weeks~ since the mandate went back in to effect, are pools at these 2 properties also more lax now about walking around outside without a mask, within the pool area, if you're going from your pool chair into the pool or bar to get a drink? People were, quite literally, getting yelled at back in April when I was there (at Bally's) if they didn't put it on when walking around outside without a mask. I even got asked to put it on while I was in my seat trying to get rid of this farmer's tan lol. It didn't bother me then as it was nice (only 90 outside lol) but given it seems to be well over 100, I was curious as I'm headed back next week.

I saw some back and forth about Cosmo being stricter (and in subsequent posts, apparently not), so curious namely insofar as those 2 properties' pool situation. I'm inclined to think it's not enforced, but any anecdotal evidence would probably be best, especially as it seems to be somewhat of a variable.

    Thanks, all.

The staffing issue is real (not just in Vegas), but I personally have front-of-house friends who are still having trouble picking up shifts. It really depends on the particular spot. The bigger thing is, as mentioned, that Vegas is very busy now, plus restaurants have more limited hours now. I've definitely seen packed restaurants at traditionally busy times, and at places that even pre-COVID were difficult to get in to as a walkup. I'd been turned away for even bartop seating at Jean-Georges and Javier's, for example. And the operating hours thing is definitely an issue.

Regarding reservations, the various online systems do not play well with each other, so I'm always an advocate of calling them. And unless it's a place that requires pre-payment, there's really no harm in putting one in.

2 weeks ago at Cosmo, there was literally 0 enforcement on masks at the Boulevard Pool. As soon as you walked out the doors to the pool deck, mask regulations or distancing did not exist. I was also there in April and remember the constant reminders even outdoors about keeping masks up.

As it sits today, the current state regulations say nothing about mask wearing outdoors being a requirement. It may say something about being recommended, but in my experience nothing is being done to even appear to try and enforce it. I think casinos and security/employees have as much mask enforcement fatigue as customers, so you aren’t going to see them wasting energy trying to enforce mask wearing in areas not required by the state, like outdoors at the pool.

That’s not to say that further state guidance can’t change if conditions don’t improve, but as it stands today, I think you can go to Bally’s/Paris safely assuming that no one is going to say anything to you about a mask when you are outdoors.

Helpful, much appreciated. I have zero issue wearing one indoors, my only concern was the oppressive heat outdoors so that's good to hear, especially given all these TRs I'm reading wherein it's like 110 degrees lol.

The current mandate only applies to indoor areas, not outdoors like a pool area.

We were downtown last week (10-14, Tuesday thru Saturday). Very happy to see 90%+ compliance with masks inside. Outside was a little different because a lot of visitors are drinking as they walk down Fremont St. We played a lot at the California and Security was friendly but vigilant about reminding people to keep their masks up if not actively drinking or smoking.

Coming in 3 weeks. What are the current rules regarding drinking at table games? Is it allowed at all? Mask between drinks? Any info is very much appreciated! Great thread.

This thread should help. Masks mandated indoors. Drinks can be consumed, but please replace your mask between sips/gulps.

Thanks Sonya. I ask as in Cincinnati where I usually gamble they had plexi glass dividers up and drinking with masking between drinks was allowed. In Indiana it was a flat out no drinking policy at any table games. Only drinking allowef at slots. Just trying to understand what I will be walking into.

Are masks required at the house of blues concerts at Mandalay bay? Please answer only if you have been to a show lately like one of the shows with general admission (standing on the floor, seating at the top). thanks.

My host told me after he sent an email to his players about the new mandate that about 5 cancelled their trip but 25+ sent him notes saying they still look forward to coming.

I will be at Wynncore in about 30 hours so will report but based on the restaurant reservation circumstances at Wynncore at least I think it is still packed as ever.

I am attending a comedy show at Encore on Friday and a boxing match on Saturday. Will report on those as well.

LiveNation will be requiring proof of vaccination for concert goers beginning Oct. 4. Until then, the mandate on masks inside has yet to be lifted.

Here is that link - https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/vegas-venues-requiring-proof-of-vaccination-and-or-negative-covid-test-for-entry.186759/

Starting Oct 4th, they require proof of vaccine or negative test for entry. Until then masks are required, but I have no first hand info on enforcement or compliance.

    Off hours: 99.99%

    After 9:00am: 51.3%

I normally like a big schnozz but holy fuck, it is bad out there. Cover that shit up or this is never gonna end.

I am not sure I have seen this discussed, but are masks required or being enforced at outdoor bar/gaming areas such as Beer Park, Top Golf or Carnaval Court at Harrahs? Guys trip in a couple of weeks and trying to find places we can go and bullsh-t without masks, which heretofore we've done at BJ or craps tables. Thanks!
