Hands down, my best win. Last November, my buddy and I were in town for the SEMA show. It was early evening on a Tuesday and the night was just beginning for us. We did a little pre gaming at the Harrah’s diamond lounge and sat down at a Sumatran storm machine.

We were just sitting there shooting the shit, waiting for a drink. I wasn’t really paying attention, but got a free spin set. I start the free spin set, turn to my buddy and continue our conversation. I hear the bing bing bing and he says, “Hey, I think you won something.” I look over and realize I hit the progressive in a free spin set, so that means the top jackpot!

The attendant came over and took my info. Seemed like he was gone forever but finally came back with 3 other guys to pay me out. I ended up tipping the guy $100. He thanked me and commented that he hopes he can pay me out on more jackpots. Honestly, I’m not sure if he was being sarcastic or if it was appreciated as I’m rarely in the situation for a hand pay, lol.

may 4, 2019, the Kentucky Derby: in the morning, went to the casino to place $100 on the race, did not know anything about any of the horses so I picked up the sheet that showed all horses with their odds. did not want to bet on horses near the favorites because payouts are low, and probably those with the longest odds would not win, but found 6 horses in the middle that all had 30-1 odds, so to keep the numbers even, pulled out another $20 and bet all 6 horses at $20 each.

turns out none of the horses won. but if you remember the winner was disqualified and the winner turned out to be Country House and the odds had changed to 65-1. it was nice to win such a long shot.

I found this site about the Lady Luck. I didn't know anything about it becoming the Grand. Pretty cool. Was it really lucky? Any stories about the place? https://over50vegas.com/206_N_3rd__Lady_Luck_.html

I liked the fact that instead of regular cocktail servers they had portable bars that they would wheel around and make your drink right then and there.

The first thing I remember of the Lady Luck (I think, might have been Gold Spike) on one of my first trips is that they had a phone booth where you could make free long distance phone calls and the line for it was way down the block. I realized then that my time in LV was worth more than waiting for trivial things.

I, too, thought at first this thread was about the Lady Luck, and I have a short snippet about playing there. It was about 1994-95, and I was playing pai gow. Over at one of the blackjack tables one lone player was loudly berating the dealer...such abusive and foul language. I wondered why they put up with this young kid.

He left the table for a few minutes, and I was able to see the Reserved sign. He came back with more money and wanted a new dealer which obviously didn't help as he continued to shout and cuss. I asked the pit boss why he put up with such nonsense. He calmly said, "That's Stu Ungar. He can play as long as he has money."

For those who don't follow poker Ungar won the World Series of poker several times and is still considered one of the best poker players of all times. Unfortunately his drug addiction got the best of him, and he died at a young age.

Harrah's horse racing track in Bossier City has a cart with drinks to be made on site. Pretty cool deal.

Woodbine casino in Toronto does the exact same thing. I think it’s way more efficient. Cuts down on staffing costs (since one person can be the bartender and the server), and ultimately results in better service to the player.

My Lady Luck story. Back in 2002 I went for a check up because my stomach and lower back had been achy for no good reason. A few days later an Ultrasound reveals, and I quote as it is seared into my memory, “You have cancer and you have a lot of it. I’ve made an appointment to get you into the oncologist this afternoon”

Stage 4 Non Hodgkin and 6-12 months to live if untreated. 50-50 chance of living. Long story short....never tell Gaggles the odds!!!!

Best gambling story? Staying at Mirage 2013. $1 JOB calling my name for two days. Took $100 to pool with sole purpose of popping it into machine after day drinking on way back to room. Made my draw and jumped out of the chair. GF at time says “What”? I point to machine and she says “Oh, I get a new pair of shoes!” Chicks man....chicks.....Hit below. A few hours later I hit a $23-2400 Royal at Golden Gate on $50 Freeplay. No more shoe money was given. My best gambling day.

I was at PH on the next table over from this 3-Card Poker table when they had the $1 Million 6-Card Diamond Royal Flush.

    Two...

    1) My 40th birthday. Our ("our", referencing later to be hubs) LONGEST trip, 12 nights, four comped properties (Aria, Cosmo, Bellagio then Monte Carlo) , three handpays (and I was $1.00 - $1.50 a spin max on slots). What made it even more special (Lady Luck), was my second hand pay, which happened at Bellagio. I had won my FIRST ever handpay that trip, at Aria, so I figured no way again.

After Aria (and my handpay) we moved to Bellagio for three nights. At Bellagio, I sat on "Midnight Diamonds". I was happy, had my cocktail, didn't plan on winning since I'd hit my one and only handpay at, Aria, and I was just having fun.

I kept "stopping" the spin on Midnight Diamonds, because I was getting some bad spins, but the music of that game was soothing, and I didn't want to move, so I kept trying to refresh by "stopping" the spin mid-spin.

What made that one crazy was, call it alcohol, or my sheer kookiness, but I had this weird thought run through my head, that said "stop hitting the button so fast, it makes it hard for us to hit". "Us?" I'm definitely a little off, but not multiple personalities. (Unless you count my morning mode. I'm not a morning person, and that MIGHT count as an alter ego!)

Upon hearing this in my brain, I decided I had gone full kookoo, but listened, and let each spin run its course.

Within 10-15 minutes of not hitting refresh, even though it was killing me, I hit a $1500 handpay, on under $3 a spin. (I THINK it was $1.50 a spin then, but not sure. Definitely $3.00 or under.) I wound up hitting THREE handpays on my 40th bday trip, it was magical, and I knew never to be replicated!

    2) Then comes my mother/daughter trip last December. My 40th bday was epic, but THIS blew my mind. 7 day trip between Cosmo and Aria. I had gone over budget slightly, but it was SUCH an epic trip with my mom, I was OK with this, it was a splurge. I was on my final, 7th night at Aria, and I didnt have one handpay all trip. Worse, the slots had not been kind to me, but I still had had a great trip, and it was my final night, so I just planned to have fun, enjoy, and relax.

On this last night of my trip (at Aria) , it truly was like out of a movie. I just, kept, Hitting. Three handpays in one night, around 7k total. (And I'm not a $20 a spin gal, usually $1.50, 3.00 on a wild day,
MAYBE more briefly, IF way up!)

I was so bad with my crazy winning steak, I was out till 7:30 am, and my mom, upon waking, got concerned and called security.

When I made it back to the room and told her why I was so late? She was thrilled! (I'm a night owl, but that's crazy late even for me. And I actually left while still hot, but I knew I was hitting the end of my streak, so wanted to leave before I cooled, so I DID behave. Kind of. It was still late, but what can you do on a steak like that?)

This truly was my Vegas "Cinderella" moment. I think that's why I'm a little OK not going back quite yet. That last trip was so spectacular, I know I'll probably never replicate it, so I am still relishing it.

This is the TR link if curious.FYI boring TR, I really don't do much except food, visit with whomever I go with (mom or hubs) , gamble, sleep and relax, etc.

    https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/mother-daughter-aria-cosmo-trip-food-debauchery-20-gambling-budget-and-fried-ipads.169551/page-5

But my final "epic win" Aria night knocked my socks
off! But the best part of that trip, my MOM had an amazing trip, and she is chomping at the bit to return!

So lady luck for me, epic 12 day birthday trip with three hand pays, and epic mother / daughter trip, with 3 handpays in one night, = around 7k! It won't happen again, but DANG was it fun!

    My LAST VEGAS TRIP !
    .
    8 yrs ago......
I just found out my wife was pregnant - we married in Vegas.
I was playing VP at Boar Bar
Jose ( famous bartender ) gives me a "heads up " about the very
    high 50 ct Progressive Jackpot.
I was playing 25 ct.......didn't even notice it
He said he never saw that Progressive that high -
    I switch over to it.
Jose leaves for the evening......I play on.
I hit it late in the evening !!!!!!!!
    .
Next morning I return to Boar Bar
I poke around the VP......waiting to tell Jose.....his shift is later.
    I hit a ROYAL FLUSH !
I move over to another machine.....10 mins ( at most ! ) later....
I hit another ROYAL FLUSH !....
    Unbelievable ?
    I hit a high jackpot Progressive.....and two ROYALS.....in a span of 12 hours.
    I netted over 5K.......from a "usual" 25 ct player
The Vegas Gambling Gods were paying me off for my last trip - with 25 yrs of VEGAS loyalty !
    VEGAS, BABY !!!!!

I think my statistically luckiest day was one of my first times playing 3 Card Poker.

I sat down at Harrahs as we started our evening and I was only a few hands in when I got a 5 Card Straight Flush which paid out $1,000 on the 6 Card bonus bet. The odds of that on any given hand are about 1 in 12,000. Pretty rare but it happens. That's just the beginning of the story.

We left Harrahs and eventually found our way to SLS and sat down at another 3CP table. Incredibly good vibe at the table with lots of fun neighbors left and right of me and my wife. Everyone is winning pretty much every hand. Lots of trips, full houses, straights on the 6 card bets. About an hour in, sure enough I turn up ANOTHER 5 card straight flush for ANOTHER $1,000.

It was really fun to say: "Oh yeah, that's my second one tonight".

The odds of hitting two 1 in 12k shots in the same night on a table game are probably pretty long. I doubt we had even 3 hours of play at that point in time so maybe we had seen ~150-200 hands?

The runner up would be this one roll at Cromwell where the lady rolled for over an hour and hit my wife's Place 6 bet 13 times. She pressed it from $6 all the way up to $1500 at that point. We walked from the table with $5k between all of our bets on an initial buy in of $200.

The betting went something like this:
    6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 300, 450, 600, 750, 1500

The "plan" was to get to 2250 and then finally 3000 for table max. Only needed 2 more rolls!

Even just another 10 minutes of rolling would have doubled or tripled our take based on much money was in play by the time she crapped out.

Here in Kentucky we don’t have casinos but we have horse racing. Back in the early 1980’s I bought one of those horse racing systems for maybe $39.99 and spent a few hours figuring the races for the fall meet at Keeneland. At that time I had never been to a horse track much less a casino so I was thinking that if this thing worked I could probably buy a house a few years earlier than I had planned.

So on my very first bet ever not only did I hit a $15 winner, I also hit an exacta that paid $100+. I spent the time between that race and the next mentally writing my resignation letter since “Hey, this is easy. Look at what I just did!”. And then of course I didn’t come close to cashing a ticket the rest of the day. Letter of resignation cancelled.

My Lady Luck story was Dec 5, 2017. It was my mother’s birthday and I was feeling a little down since she was gone so decided to go to my local casino. I always said I win after 7 pm and at 7:09 hit 4 aces w/ kicker on ultimate aces for $9000! Then at 7:25 hit $1207, at 7:30 hit $875, 7:32 hit $2037, 7:51 hit $2075, 10:57 another $2075, and a few more under $1000. I won about $18,000. Don’t ask what I came home with. I believe my mother had a hand in this! Always said I was going to go back on her birthday but haven’t.
