There's been some changes to my vacation plans for 2019. The way things are looking I may only make it to Vegas one time this year and only for two nights in February. I might be able to sneak in a night or two late Sept/ early October but that's yet to be determined.

However, we are taking a cruise to Alaska the end of May ( was planning for next year but....).

I'm actually starting to reconsider my accommodations for my upcoming trip. Have been planning to stay at RIO (CET bucket list thing) but now I'm thinking if this is possibly my only visit this year, should I just stay on the strip at PHo or Bally's ( for convenience reasons) or stay downtown ( I love it down there). Where ever I stay, it's going to be a low, low rolling trip this time.

Probably the usual 3---- Memorial Day (Nomad/Flamingo/Orleans)
    Also will be Thanksgiving
Labor Day will be Vegas or Florida---My guess is Laurel will chose Vegas

She turns 60 in March so are going to Phoenix for 6 nights to see if the Indian casinos are giving away any money!!!

    Hmmmm...hard to say.

The Mrs. retires in May from Hillsborough County Public Schools and this frees up the calendar for the second half of the year. For a fact, we'll be in Vegas for the first day of school this August, as she wants to roll out of bed and head downstairs while everyone else is heading back to the classroom. Probably going to put together something for the mountains of NC / Tennessee in fall.

I'd like to go more than once but only have a Feb trip to date.

Will be retired soon so the rest of the year most likely will be easier to plan trips.

    late spring/early summer group trip
    early fall solo trip

That was my original plan, anyway. But airfare is as low as $260 round trip right now though which is crazy... for a while finding anything under $400 felt like a miracle. A buddy and I were going to do a Superbowl trip but now I have to go to Canada for work the week before and I don't want to board my dog for what'd be about 2 weeks. If it stays that low though, I'll probably end up trying to push the group trip more towards summer then head out solo in late March or early April.

I'll try to keep it to my usual 4 trips a year. First one planned for later this month, although it'll be the 3rd month in a row for me. Probably won't have the urge to go again until May / June.

I've gotten the departure timing for the drive out down pat, to the point where it rarely takes longer than 4 hours from SoCal. The return has been tougher to gauge...usually 4-5 hours to get back.

First one is in Feb, 2nd in May and probably third and last in October, although there's lots of comp days on this summer's calendar....

One in May. I wasn't planning on going at all this year. Normally I go every two or three years and more often it is to attend a conference. Since the entitled squeky wheel b***h quit here at work there is more room in the professional development budget so other people can actually have professional development on a yearly basis.

So what turned into a great vacation in November 2017 as my last trip for a few years actually as the start of a once per year trip. I had the exciting news to book a conference for myself last year, and then I decided to ask again this year and was approved because there would be more room! It works out to three times in 18 months, a person best for me!

I'm with you on the new roof hatred. Roofs suck! Well, paying for a new roof sucks! Having a new roof... well, that is good to have but the cost to get it!!!!

Two as usual-March and September/October. This will be the last year of September and October trips that I’ll have plenty of choices for free hotel room stays, as with the Raiders starting play in LAS for 2020, the hotels will now have ten extra weekends to jack up rates.

Vegas -- Likely 4. All arrangements have been made for a 10-day trip in April and one the week of July 4th. I expect I'll do the week of Thanksgiving again (my one purely solo trip of the year) and the week between Christmas and New Years. For a number of good reasons my personal travel may be very limited in 2020 so I'm going to be doing as much fun traveling as I can this year, especially to Vegas where my host treats me well and win or lose, I always have a great time.

I may visit AC a couple of weekends over the summer as I just love the AC vibe during the summer but I want to spend the vast majority of my bankroll in Vegas rather than splitting it more evenly between AC and Vegas.

The last week in August I'll be on an Alaskan cruise on the Bliss. I was supposed to go with my mother last summer but I had to cancel all of my vacation travel last summer. I've got the travel credit, however, from the cancelled trip so I'm good to go and flights to Seattle have already been booked.

I do close to a dozen weekend trips a year to Upstate NY to check on my parents and have for more than a decade. Same in 2019. So blessed they are still with me and my mom will be hanging with me in Vegas for 10 days in April.

In addition to the above, I'm thinking about a long weekend in a city I haven't visited in years, like Miami or New Orleans, possibly some time in October when the weather should be great.

No international trips planned this year unless I scrap the Vegas solo trip in November. If so, I want to visit another African country. Maybe go see the gorillas.
