We have been to the breakfast buffet at MSS too many times to count and all of the above are correct. Manny makes good eggs and puts on a show. We have walked by the Fremont buffet several times while choosing to have a server and order off the menu in the back. I thought the buffet looked good, although smaller then MSS, but I did like the idea of made to order pancakes.

At MSS, yes it is unlimited champagne on Sat & Sun. I am not a connoisseur, so mixed with OJ it tastes just fine to me.

Full disclosure: I am not a morning person, nor a breakfast person, but if I want an omelet and bacon, MSS fits the bill.

We are never too choosy about breakfast buffets, because how can you screw up breakfast? That said, Fremont comes close. MSS is a much better value.
And as Joe says, Manny is a character. His constant patter of lines like "Do you want eggs with that?" when you order an omelet is quite entertaining.

Actually I don't like the Manny's eggs. He puts a lot of oil (clarified butter?) in his omelets so I end up having to sop up the "oil" from my dish. Many times it just drips in oil so lately I skip the omelets when he is there.

Be aware, at MSS your buffet price depends on the day you visit. Mostly because almost every day they have some kind of specialty main course. Here are the prices at MSS:

    Sunday: 4:00pm - 10:00pm $11.99*
    Monday: 4:00pm - 9:00pm $11.99*
    Tuesday Barbeque: 4:00pm - 9:00pm $14.99*
    Wednesday: 4:00pm - 9:00pm $11.99*
    Thursday: 4:00pm - 9:00pm $11.99*
    Friday Seafood Buffet: 4:00pm -10:00pm Emerald: $22.99*,Sapphire: $23.99*,Ruby: $25.99*
    Saturday Prime Rib & Scampi Special: 4:00pm -10:00pm $14.99*

wow, thought they had a ny steak day but guess not. Also note the prices for the Friday seafood buffet as it all depends on what kind of cardholder you are.

Here are the prices for the Fremont buffet

Prime Rib Night, Sunday, Monday and Thursday: 4:00pm - 10:00pm $15.49*
    Seafood Fantasy, Tuesday: 4:00pm - 10:00pm and Friday 4:00pm - 11:00pm $21.99*
    Steak Night, Wednesday: 4:00pm - 10:00pm and Saturday, 4:00pm - 11:00pm $15.49*

I didn't realize that the Fremont buffet is more expensive for most nights. I would also second MSS over Fremont since the prices were also better at MSS (except for the seafood buffet).

I guess lately I've been staying away from the buffets (except for the seafood night) so I didn't realize how much they cost. I also don't get the food coupon book so I go elsewhere to eat.

I have partaken in all three downtown buffets. In order of value for pricing levels:

    1) MSS
    2) Fremont
    Distant 3rd- Golden Nugget

Downtown grand has a buffet? Please provide info if so, prices, selections, etc.

As for cheap, how much is cheap? Can you get a breakfast for $5 or less? How much is dinner? $7 or less? Just wondering.

MSS hands down..Not really cheap, but the quality of food is light years ahead of The Golden Nugget and The Fremont.

Of course, I did. He's their only saving grace IMO. But the Fremont guy does omelets and pancakes.

People enjoy/like Manny because he is more of a "showman". Many times he plays with his food, throwing the omelet mix up in the air to get the attention from the crowd.

I've done all 3 buffets Downtown and all are fantastic offering great Value, though the Nugget is more expensive than MSS & Freemont & price wise is comparable with the Strip..it being a 4* Hotel.

MSS shades it over the Freemont but both offer excellent value at a cheap rate if that's what you're looking for.

I have to agree, I don't think any of the buffets downtown are great.

If it's a nice dinner, you might check out Binions Steakhouse. Not sure if they still have it, but they usually have a sign or you could call
to see if they still have the weekday special for 29.99.
Its a steak, potato and salad.
Excellent food and very romantic atmosphere!

They don't have a buffet at DTG. He was replying to a question about where they are staying.
