Slots The Orleans vs. Main Street Station vs. Gold Coast for Slots

Hello,
I am trying to decide which of these 3 properties that I want to stay at. I am a penny slot player and I prefer older/early 2000's Aristocrat & IGT games. After doing a slot search, it appears that these 3 Boyd properties have the most of my machines that I like to play. Now I just have to choose one. I am leaning towards The Orleans because the property and rooms seem nicer than the other two. Any advice is welcome! Also, do either of the three comp any better for future offers/free stays? Thanks in advance!

 

Orleans, then Gold Coast, then MSS. That's in order of the actual number of slots they have. They all have a good mix of older games on their floor so you will find what you are looking for. MSS has a larger percentage of VP in their mix compared to the others as well. They all can comp for free stays but I've found it easier to get comps from Orleans, probably because they have more rooms.

I would pick Orleans. It has way more of the machines you like than the other two. And if you like, the Gold Coast is just a hop, skip, and jump away via the free shuttle that runs between the two properties and the Strip.

Orleans is pretty generous with room comps with fairly little play. MSS has very little to offer as far as other options to do if your gambling goes south and you need a break. The Orleans and Gold Coast has other things to do like movies, bowling, and the shuttle can bring you to the Strip if you need a change of scenery.

When I go solo I stay downtown at the Boyd properties and all I do is gamble. But when I go with my wife we like the Orleans because of the above mentioned options.

 

Thanks for the input so far. I will be traveling solo but I am staying for 5 nights. Orleans seems to have a lot to do plus between Gold Coast and Orleans, they have most of my favorite machines. I was kind of hoping that between MSS, The Cal and Fremont they would have many of the machines as well. But by doing the Boyd slot search, it doesn't appear to be true. MSS has some of them, but not nearly as many as Gold Coast and Orleans. The Orleans is more expensive than the others, but it looks like it may be worth it.

 

To thatguy: I've never stayed at Orleans, but with that many days stay and the fact you play slots, it might be worthwhile to ask for a slot host to review your play before you check out to see if they could comp part of your room charges.

For folks who stay at Orleans - does Orleans do backend comps if slot pay warrants it?

 

Absolutely! I stayed on a comp at Orleans last September and booked a separate room for my dad at the regular room rates, when I checked out I asked about a comp for his room & they took care of his room too. I did that right at the hotel check in/out area. I think they phoned a host to check our play.

 

That's actually good to know, since I'll be staying at the Orleans for the first time this September and bringing a decent bankroll for slots.

 

I play at all 3, so would say Orleans for slots, then GC.
MSS is better for VP and craps, IMO.

 

If over 50, the slot multiplier days for seniors are only good for locals at MSS(and Cal). All other Boyds are good for everyone over 50 regardless if local or not

 

For sure, just ask the staff at the registration when you check out, they'll take care of you. Maybe charge your meals to the room as well, your play may take care of that too! Im confident they'll give you a fair shake!

 

We are staying for NYE and NYD...Looking fwd to a different experience. What are the perks for being over 50?

 

The downtown casinos would have more of the games you like but A) they are small and B) they are doing more business in VP. If you need to save a few bucks, you will probably be happy at Gold Coast but the rooms at Orleans are larger and a bit more comfy. And I think it's easier to get a comp out of them.

 

I would choose Orleans over GC, and WAY over MSS...
It's just a better property in EVERY category

 

I think they ALL have their pluses.
That's the reason why I am staying at ALL 3 in late October! Ha

GC and Orleans have the multiplier days, senior days, promo days, pool, etc..
Plus the free WIFI and NO resort fees on a comp room!

MSS has good VP, plus the scratch offs!

No reason you couldn't split your time between properties. Five days is kind of a long time to stay at any of those locations and I've stayed at all three and like them all. Downtown would actually be best for a long stay. Spent 6 nights at the Fremont once at enjoyed it. That being said, MSS would be by far the worst of the 3 choices as far as slots. For you, I'd think about 3 nights at the Orleans and 2 nights at the Gold Coast.

 

Orleans for many side diversions too.

Thank you everyone! I've got it narrowed down between MSS and The Orleans. MSS is a bit cheaper plus I'm wondering if other non-Boyd casinos downtown such as Four Queens, The Plaza, El Cortez etc. may have older video slots that I like to play.

 

I've stayed at Gold Coast and Orleans - Orleans has a better vibe and a wider variety of penny slots. And the buffet is much better!!
