VEGAS for 1 week, 2 peeps $15k?

Hi there!
We are planning a trip in November for a week.
We gamble but no way are we high rollers.
We'd like to stay on the strip, central and get a nice room with a terrace/balcony (he smokes) and robes!! Those are the two biggies.
We plan on allotting $15k with $1000/air. Is that enough?
Any help & suggestions appreciated!!

Wanting a balcony pretty much leads you to Cosmo. Depending on when in November, you can get a one bedroom suite with balcony for between $1200-$1400 all-in for 6 nights.

Saying no way are you high rollers is all relative.

If you're asking if $15k for a week in Vegas is enough, you might be higher rollers than you think.

Sign up for players cards wherever you stay and use them. Charge everything to your room.

You might end up getting some of what you spend comp'd.

 

You could have a very nice week in a big suite at Wynn/Encore and have an ok gambling and food budget. Some people would stay downtown and have a fine gambling budget. I say go for the luxury. The suite that costs $2-5K in New York City, Hawaii or San Francisco costs $1K in Vegas. Weekdays less, weekends more, of course.

Definitely follow AllenAndRossi's advice above-get a players card and don't pay cash-having everything on your room might earn rewards and will be a basis for reductions based on your play.

Agreed that you might be a higher roller than you think.

$15k for a week in Vegas? That's a pretty large budget for a week in Vegas. You can have a blast on a budget like that.

 

I can't? LOL. That's including or airfare... Going first class as he's 6'5"!

If "center-strip", "terrace" and "nice room" are your top three priorities, then your top three options are Cosmo, Cosmo and Cosmo*. Nothing else ticks all three boxes.

$2k/night will buy you a great trip (as long as you're not a bigger gambler than you let on...)

*Like Jackpot Johnny, I'm a big Wynn/Encore fan. So, if mid-strip and terrace aren't vital, I'd definitely consider those two joints.

 

That budget would be good for 4 trips or more for myself. 15k would be the best time ever. Yeah a nice room at Cosmo would be no more than 2000$ for a week. Still leaves 12k to gamble eat and anything else you wanna do. Have fun!!

 

Im sure you could include 3 people instead of two for your bankroll. If you need a third wheel I am here for you.

 

We do it for $1500 without breaking a sweat. Although not at the cosmopolitan.

 

15k will be plenty depending on how you are playing. my last trip 4 days took 5k total. lost most of it but I gamble a little heavier than most. If you're planning on clubbing, fine dining every night, and not too much heavy gambling; this will be more than enough. If you plan on stririctly slot gambling you're going to be very surprised on what your going to get back at the end of your trip. Get a card and charge everything to the room. Your next Vegas trip should be free.

 

Just doing the simple math:
15k - 2k air -2k room = $11k for fun
11k - avg $200/day dining = $9600
leaves you with $4800pp or around $685 to lose per day per person to do what you wish with.

Remember you're probably not going to lose everyday. So when you win you're gambling on the casinos money. I would also suggest playing on one card instead of both of you getting a card.

 

And since you are new... the poster means one account. Get multiple cards on that one account.

 

A Cosmo terrace fountain view suite for sure! Be sure to request fountain view and high floor regardless of room type you decide on - hubby gets his terrace for his smoke and y'all get to enjoy spectacular views of the Bellagio fountains. Robes included! Great location on the strip for access to everything and great restaurants.
As others have suggested, sign up for players card, get multiple cards and both play on one account (slots and VP) to accrue points faster. Charge meals, etc (actually everything) to your room and the night before or morning of, speak to a host at players desk BEFORE checking out - depending on your play level, you might get some back end comps taken off your bill.
We use the 'envelope' system - our gambling bankroll is divided into daily envelopes to ensure discipline (lol) - devise a tracking system that works for you (meals, entertainment, gamble, etc) and you'll have no problem making your bankroll last the entire trip.

Good advice. This is way the best and most disciplined system I've found to avoid going on tilt. I used to be a responsible person and carefully made my 7 envelopes before every trip. Now I am old, enfeebled and probably even more of a degenerate Vegas spender, and I usually don't do the envelopes-instead I use the 'pocket system.' I put my day's gaming money in my right front pocket, sort of a portable envelope, maybe- and that's my budget, at least until I go back to the safe or my deposit box and take out more money. I recommend Geogran's system, or at least one which works for you. My pocket system is not very good and can lead to empty pockets. Somehow the envelope is always psychologically more difficult to dive back into than 'wad-o-cash' in the safe or the box.

In fact downright conservative with no deviation from a tightly scripted budget.
Then came the 'what the heck, it's Vegas, we're here to have fun' phase. Oh yeah!
Until you don't win for a few trips in a row, uh oh.
Our solution? Increase the bankroll, yeah that's the ticket.
That worked. For a trip or three. 'We took how much money'?
Now we envelope. A happy medium bankroll that feels right and allows us 3-4 guilt free trips a year to Vegas.
Yes, occasionally we rob the next day's envelope - after all it IS Vegas.
