South indy horseshoe- Can diamond pay for drinks with RC's?

Heading to S Indy Horseshoe next week. Just read where the drinks cost and even in diamond lounge they cost too. I am wondering A if that is still the case and B can I pay for my drinks and my wife's with my reward credits while playing?

Also, do I have to pay for drinks while playing at the craps table?

 

No. Paying with RCs would be considered a comp and that's not permitted. You have to pay for drinks in Indiana while gambling as well. Same for Illinois.

 

Yep... as last poster mentioned, RC's are a "comp" and therefore you can not get "comped" for booze. Casinos in some states help out a bit by offering a higher caliber wine/beer/booze in the DL.

On a related note, did you know that some states do not allow "Happy Hours" in your local bar? Like Georgia.

 

Are there Diamond lounges in either South Indy Horseshoe and or Harrahs Joliet ( I believe that I read somewhere that there was 1). If so, are the rules in either different with regards to drinks?

 

Somewhat confused on the RC "comp" issue. In Vegas I can use my RCs to pay for a meal at any restaurant, goodies at any Sundry or even knock something off my bill at the end of my stay! Not sure why paying for drinks, even at the bar, with RCs is a no-no in Indy? Unless I just can't use my RCs for anything in Indy/ Illinois!

 

Drinks are not free at any Illinois/Indiana casino. It's possible they are discounted in the diamond lounge (they were in St. Louis when Harrah's was there...beer was only $1 in the past in the Diamond Lounge), but you'll have to pay some amount out of pocket. The law is the law. The Midwest rarely lets you drink for "free", and that includes not being able to use RCs on alcohol. You're more than welcome to use RCs on any food and non-alcoholic drink though.

And Indiana, alcohol is cutoff from 3am-7am. Not sure about Harrah's Joliet's exact time. Also Harrah's Joliet is closed every day from 6 to 8 am. Illinois casinos are not allowed to operate more than 22 hours per day. Welcome to the Midwest!

Reward Credits are comps. When Total Rewards rolled out, the point was to make comps visible and bankable for low rollers through RCs. I can't even explain the way they did it before. But as far as the casino and the state gaming boards see it they are comps just like the free drinks passed out in Vegas are. In most jurisdictions they have some rules to prevent the casinos from providing "free" alcohol, even if they are being paid with earned credits.

 

FYI, it's cheaper to buy drinks in the Diamond lounge as well. They do not charge you as much for premium pours that the casino floor bars do.
