I had a blackjack dealer at Bellagio bust (22) but she thought she had 21. She quickly swept away all the cards and bets off the table. When we told her of the error, she summoned the pit boss and he asked her if she could re-deal the swept cards. She said no. The pit boss asked all of us to place our original bets and he had the dealer pay the table and then he walked away. I was at a $25 table and playing $50-$75. Pit boss came back after 20 minutes and watched a few hands of play and then walked away again. That's why I like the BJ at Bellagio. Errors don't seem to be a big deal and they are more focused on player service and making sure you don't feel like you are getting screwed.

I've gotten paid on a few dealer 22's at fbbj. I really do enjoy it, I missed playing it last time out. Never seen it outside of Las Vegas though.

I've done it all. Said something, not said something, pointed out an error for and against another player (he was a dick). It just depends on mood, bet size, drunkeness, or some combination thereof.

The only exception is when I'm playing something like $5 at ElCo. They break in a lot of new dealers and I'll quietly point out any error they make if it doesn't negatively effect anyone else.

If you don't want to surrender before you find out the dealer has a blackjack why would you want to surrender after you find out that they don't?

If the dealer is friendly and fun I will tell them. If they are stone faced, hating life, and making the best of being at work I will not say anything. Also if I am getting killed and the casino has a bunch of my money already I may looked the other way.

I had a pretty good hit at a casino in Shreveport on roulette once. I had $20 on 17 and $20 on each of the corners (paying 8:1). The correct payout is $700 for the straight up and $640 for the corners for a total of $1340.

The dealer wanted to short me $300. I was polite and said they were off a bit. The pit boss overhears this and came over.

He wanted to short me $300 too.

I was polite and tried to break it down for them. He got his calculator. And he STILL didn't get it correct. I was still polite and questioned the math again. He punched the numbers again in the calculator and still came up with the wrong number. I calmly went through the math again. He punched the numbers in his calculator and finally agreed on the correct number.

    So, my two lessons are:

    1) know what your correct payout should be and
    2) don't turn down an incorrect payout since you've likely been shorted in he past.

Correct errors when you are shorted.

If you are overpaid, take the money and keep your mouth shut.

My job is to watch my money and be sure I am paid what I am due.
The dealer is employed by the casino and their job is to watch the casino's money and be sure they only pay me what I am due.
I am not being paid by the casino to watch their money.

Agree, it's hard enough to keep track of what you are due.

I'll keep this to the short story -- if anyone wants to hear the long back-story to this I'll tell it....

I had been playing Ultimate Texas Hold'em at an off-strip casino for over a year that was allowing me just to play the Trips bet and the $1 bonus bet...so that I was not playing against the dealer with my hand and only won anything if I had Trips or better. A new dealer came to the table on this particular day & she started paying me even money on my Trips bet every hand (there is no even money payout and if you don't have at least Trips you lose the bet). This went on for at least 10 hands & I was piling up those chips in a separate pile. So I had collected $100 from her at that point (since she had not taken my bet either each time I lost). I finally leaned over and softly said "I don't mind getting free money but I lose on the Trips bet if I don't at least have Trips..." Ten minutes later one of the pit bosses comes over and tells me "we decided that you're going to have to play all of the bets if you want to play this game" "after today?" "No, this is your last hand"....I never found out what the deal was; had they gotten a call from upstairs way after the fact? She was overpaying me on each hand for about 10 minutes. They had to be real dumbasses to not figure out what was going on a lot quicker than that..

I had this happen to me at Foxwoods one time. I had $50 on the hard 6 and it came up soft and the dealer forgot to take it down. The pair of 3's came up on the very next roll. I, of course, kept my mouth shut. :)

i've returned every wallet i've ever found, correct mistakes at the cage, correct people when they give me the wrong change, correct people in poker games if they put in too much money, but if a dealer makes an error I'm keeping the money. the casino does everything possible to screw the players and nobody is going to notice a rare mistake.

A craps dealer at the Flamingo told me years ago, when I pointed out that he had overpaid me, NEVER to give the money back to the casino. He said we as players aren't responsible and to always keep what the dealer pushes to you. Got to be friendly with that crew over the years, and it seemed that they might get in trouble if we pointed out their errors. Still, I wasn't raised that way and it feels weird, especially when I teach new players how to play the game. I don't like telling people to keep the overpayment, but always remembered what I was told and instruct players to keep quiet about overpayments.

Now, in November, I cashed in and received an extra $100 from the cage at a downtown casino. Never happened to me before. I didn't fully realize it until I had walked away, and recounted it about 15 times, Still regret not giving that back. I talked myself into keeping that under the same logic, but my karma was messed up. [SUP][/SUP]

Speaking of dealers mistakes...I was the Borgata last Friday and during Spanish 21 the dealer paid out a hand that equaled 21, but he must've forgotten to look at his cards as he had a BlackJack.,..Well, there was a dealer waiting to tap him out and saw his mistake and she literally ratted him out to the suits behind them. Suffice to say, it killed the table's mood and a few minutes later without even asking her she's like "I didn't want him to get in trouble." Everyone just rolled their eyes, as the only way he wouldve gotten in trouble was if the eyes in the sky caught it.

Never seen that another dealer ratting another out like she did.

Yeah, the cage is different than getting overpaid at the table. Security might catch a dealer error by watching a tape, but there's no accounting of all the action vs the chips at the table. But a cashier, her drawer is going to be $100 short. They're going to determine why.

    2) don't turn down an incorrect payout since you've likely been shorted in the past.

This is what I would explain to them when they ask me to return the money. Just politely ask them to roll the tape and confirm it was the only mistake the dealer(s) made during my play.

This year in March I had a couple dealers making mistakes when I was playing some tablegames.

The biggest UNBELIEVABLE mistake I have ever seen in my life when in a casino was at a roulette table at The LINQ. I bought in for $100 and was playing with $1 chips and bet 1 chip on the number 26-29 (split) and some other numbers straight. The dealer was spinning the roulette ball and it landed on 29 black. After that she put the marker on the number 26 black and I immediately told her she had to look again to make sure where the ball had landed. I don't know if she heard me or not, but she did nothing and when I looked at the marker I saw someone else had two chips on 26 black and not on 29 black. So when I realized that I shut my mouth because for me it doesn't make a difference. The marker stayed on 26 black and the other player got paid out $70. I was trying to give the lucky player some sign language about what happend but he was tipsy and didn't really understand. I kept playing for 15 minutes and whispered quickly what happend in his ear and he was like "wow".... and left after that lol. I think it's unbelievable how you can't see the correct number as a roulette dealer... but whatever... LOL.

The second mistake while on my trip in march was at the Golden Nugget party pit. I sat down at a $5 BJ table and give the asian dealer a hundy. She shouts "ONE BLACK OUT" or something like that to the pitboss who is literally standing 4 feet away from her when she is giving me chips in red. Pitboss agrees and instead of making 4 stacks with 5 red $5 chips she's giving me 4 stacks with 6 $5 chips. Thank you madam! I saw it happen and put on my best pokerface and said nothing. I quickly left the table after a couple of mins.

The third mistake was at Four Queens when my friend and I were playing $10 Pai Gow. The dealer misread my friend his hand, it was a push but she was thinking my friend won it and she payed him out. We were staring to eachother and where like... mmmh Okay! :p

I think I'm really honest in my nature, but when a dealer error comes up at a casino I'm not telling anything if it's in my favor. The casino is my opponent and it's not my job to say something when the house makes a mistake. In the end we all end up as a loser in the casino and that's what their focus is. What do you guys think about that? Will you tell the dealer?

It's crazy how many mistakes there are being made in Vegas. In my hometown casino back in The Netherlands they have much better BJ/Roulette odds and most dealers are much more professional if I compare it withVegas. I also think dealer errors happen a lot more in the cheaper casino's then higher end properties like ARIA/Bellagio but still...

Similar thing happened to me in Reno. I lost but dealer said I pushed. Dealer had collected all of the cards and then had a Eureka moment. She backed out every. single. card on every. single. hand. until it got back to mine and she realized I had lost. It was the right call, but damn I almost got away with one!

The most egregious player correction was when I was playing with my buddy at Hard Rock and my buddy had upped his bet to $100. My friend had A-8 vs dealer 20 and the dealer pushed it. Third base, who I'm like 30% sure was Tate Donovan, sees this and speaks up saying 'didnt he lose'? The dealer then takes my friends chips and I, pretty tipsy at the time, said 'thanks boy scout'. I later made a probably not-so-quiet comment about him earning his dealer correction merit badge. Third base left soon after that and I felt like a dick later for making fun of someone being honest.

If you're reading this Tate Donovan, I'm sorry!

Playing Pai gow in the lotus room at Mandalay Bay, had $500 hand out there and was dealt a full house which I split between the high and low hand. It was the last hand for that dealer as the shoulder tap from the next dealer had occurred. I won the hand and the dealer payed out the $50 bonus (I had $10 on the bonus), the dealer gets up for the next dealer to sit down and walks away. I complain that I never got paid for my $500 hand to the new dealer. Pit comes over and makes a call to the video room which confirmed the 1st dealer paid the bonus but not the original bet. So I got paid. 20 min later the first dealer comes back and starts giving me crap for complaining about her. Whatever she kept giving me good cards.
