Best SportsBook on Strip?

Visiting the week before Mach Madness and am looking for a good sports book.

I apologize in advance, I am sure this has been posted. I used the search function but didn't see any recent posts on this.

I bet between 50-200 a game and like to receive a drink ticket with my bets.
I stayed at Venetian last time and liked their sports book but didn't like how frugal they were with their drink tickets

Great question. The issue you had at Venetian is not a V/P issue, as they don't own the sportsbook, that's Cantor Gaming (CG) and they also run several other books on the strip. I don't know which ones, as, like you, I tend to avoid them. Although I do spend a lot f time at the bar at Venetian since you can watch from there fairly easily.

CET is slightly more generous, although it seems like all books are getting cheap with drinks, although I'm not a big fan of any of the CET books. A lot of the CET books to me feel like afterthoughts. Although I use LINQ's a lot for ease of wagering or checking a score, its not the kind of place I want to settle in for a game - its far too small and distracting. I think I've heard people like CP's, but I rarely head over there, so can't speak to that one. Paris is out of the way and quiet, but not the best.

Some of the best books to me are Mirage and Mandalay, but I've only ever seen a game there, have no idea what their drink policies are like.

 

I like cosmos brand new one. it is right on the casino floor and blends in nicely so you can easily hop on a slot for extra drinks

 

Yeah I have heard good reviews on the Cosmo's new book...can't wait to check it out.

Mirage has a fantastic book. I have heard good reviews on Caesar's too but I haven't been there in quite some time.

The best book in the city is the one at Westgate (the old Hilton). They just remodeled it and it looks great.

On the subject of drink tickets....it really depends on your ticket writer. I have had some at V/P look at me crazy when I asked for some (after putting in $500 worth of bets) but then I would have one hook me up with 5-6 after a $50 bet. Make sure to tip them and they should take care of you. Before I tip them I ask them if they want me to make a bet for them or just give them cash and many will opt for the bet.

 

I wasn't aware of Cosmo's new book, will have to check it out. And Rocky is right on about ticket writers at V/P, some I feel like I've had to pry the ticket from their clenched fist, others hand you a wad. I've had better luck with them early in the morning, before it gets busier and they start dealing with Vegas tourists I guess.

I've never thought about placing a bet for them. I always tip after a winning bet, but haven't when I just place one (am I am ass?) How do you place the bet? What amount and do you then just give them the ticket or how does that work exactly? I kind of assumed they weren't allowed to have tickets from their own book when they're working but maybe I was wrong. Just curious as to how you do that, I like the idea. My typical bet is between 200-500, so what would you do on that?

 

I usually tip when placing the bets so I can grease their palms for those drink tickets.

I'll ask the ticket writer if they have a "best bet" on the board or to pick their top two games and I'll either do a straight bet for $20 or a parlay for them. They're usually pretty happy about that because they're like us and dig sports and like to have some action on it.

When I'm doing my Hail Mary parlays ($10-20 on 8-10 teamers) I'll mirror one of them for the writer for $5.

I've not yet had one of them say they can't do it at their own book. I assume they can't place it themselves but can accept tickets as tips

 

Thanks, that's a good idea, I'll try that out myself. You say you've had some moderate success with at at V/P? I knew the guys had to bet on it, they're always looking at spreads and talking lines/teams when I go up. I bet you're right, they just have to wait to cash the ticket till they're off the clock, or maybe have a friend cash them. Either way, if they benefit from it, and it gets me a few extra tickets, I'm down. I normally play vp while I watch, so comped drinks are typically not an issue...however when vp is cold and the winning wager is only a break-even as a result, it kind of takes away the fun of cashing that ticket. Last couple of trips sports betting has been about the only profitable aspect of my gambling, so I'd like to preserve that as much as possible, lol.

 

What about Legasse's? I've heard it's the nicest sports bar/book in Vegas.

 

Its a great venue, problem I have with it is you have to pay to be there. They'll let you walk in, but if you want to actually sit and watch a game, it costs money, and I've been told they don't comp drinks in there. Now maybe that's not the case at all times, but whenever there's been a sporting event and I've looked into it, thats what I've been told.

 

Yes it's been relatively good as far as helping me get extra drinks at the Venetian. The only time it didn't was when I had a new girl and she said she didn't know much about sports so I just tipped in cash then.

Sitting in the book relaxing and tying a nice buzz on is one of my favorite things about Vegas.

hotreds...Lagasse's is really nice but you do need to order stuff to eat or drink to sit there and watch as Fuzzy mentioned. Their couch set up in the stadium seating is awesome.

 

I guess you go to Lagasse's if you want to do more than just watch sports; namely: eat as well. Maybe in November when I'll be in Vegas on a Sunday( first time) I'll have lunch, watch a game, and place a bet!
