    oo

    Nevyn nailed it,

The Monorail is like going to Bed bath & way-way-way-way Beyond, then beyond some mooooreeee!
Take the Mgm station is soo deep in MGM Grand, a trip to Kansas, from the Emerald City might be closer.

While staying at Paris, casino hopping & Strip walking ended up playing at Trop, hey we have a Day pass lets go!
so lets take the Monorail back to Paris, was 1:45AM when we left Trop,,, We can make it.....
By the time we walked all the way completely thru MGM to the station, it was already shutdown for the night..
/Trudge /trudge /trudge /trudge all the way Back thru MGM, & Approx 30 Min later we were back @Paris.
(We even cut thru the slums @west wing)

    http://www.lvmonorail.com/route-map/

Also with a Lot of Dead casinos on the North end of the Monorail

As a something to do, or /bucket list,
get a day pass & go for it, cheaper then gambling!

What it needs are Moving walkways to the Monorail?
    Dunno....

We just rent a car. You can get very cheap car rentals through hotwire/priceline, etc. Then, you just drive from one to another (maybe taking the smaller monorails between sister hotels). All hotels have free parking (but that's supposedly changing). I would seriously consider renting a car and driving where you want to go. Another quick tip, don't drive up and down the strip (maybe once to see the views). Instead drive on parallel streets like Koval Lane and then cut back to the strip near the hotels you want to visit. Much less time than driving up and down the strip itself.

Not sure I'm going to add anything helpful here. We do what you're talking about every trip, but all in one day - walk the entire strip, visiting every casino. Its gets us exercise and out of the V/P labyrinth and we turn it into a game and have a great time with it. Plus a few drinks in you're just enjoying the experience. That said, the monorail is not at all conducive to the quest.

We have used the monorail before, we needed to go to the convention center, so we used myvegas points to get a BOGO pass. All that was available was a 3-day pass so we got it, thinking we might use it a lot - we were wrong. The only time I was glad we had the pass was the day after the vegas marathon we had tickets for MJ One. We used the monorail to get from Harrah's (we were staying at Palazzo) to MGM, and then walked to MB. It was actually nice skipping a large part of the strip, especially since I hate the area from MGM to PH with all the street lurkers. Unfortunately the times when the monorail is convenient are so few and far between that the cost doesn't justify a pass, and the only way I can see a pass paying off is if you're using the monorail multiple times.

Maybe for someone staying at SLS/Westgate or something it would provide a convenient way to get to center strip, but even then I'm not sure its worth the cost of the pass v. uber.

Would I pay for it again? No. But it wasn't a terrible experience, the cars were clean, fast and efficient. Unfortunately the way vegas is built with DEEP casinos that sit back from the road, the monorail just isn't in a good location.

I would recommend to people that if it's your first time in Vegas, or haven't been back in a while, skip the monorail and walk it. You will not see anything from the monorail except back streets and the back of casinos.

For me, I go to MyVegas and use my points on BOGO monorail tickets. I go to Vegas in June during the WSOP and I get hot very easily. And I get annoyed at people easily. So, as others have mentioned, I probably walk the same distance as everybody else, but I'm sitting down and in AC. I usually stay at the Linq so I'll use the monorail to get to MGM/Trop or stop at Bally's and cut through Paris to get the PH. Yeah, it's a lot of walking.

But like others have said, if it's your plan to see all these casinos, you gotta walk the strip and take in all the action/views. And try to get out there at night too.

Ah, but you have to remember that MGM will start charging for parking so you will have to take that into consideration in the future. Whether Harrahs also starts to charge will also determine whether to rent a car or just take alternative modes of transportation.

I usually stay downtown so I rent a car but with them charging for parking not sure how often I will be going on the strip anymore.

We used to rent, then realized we drink way too much. AND... sometimes the walk to the parking lot, or wait for the valet ruins the mood.

We walk the bulk of the strip almost everyday. Have to put a dent in all that drinking and eating. Of course, we stop at bars along the way.

Yep..walking works great. And, if you have walked all day and made too many stops, you can always cab it back.

You can get a 2 for 1 through MyVegas on Monorail passes. We'll probably get 3, 4 and 7 day passes when we're over and it'll save us over $100. The redemption doesn't count against MGM's limit of 3 in 90 days.

If I were in charge, I'd put the monorail down the centre of the strip instead of the palm trees and put the stations at the walkways. Then it would be a really useful tool.

There's no way I'd want an elevated monorail down the centre of the strip. But if they expanded the feeder roads behind resorts and made the strip pedestrian only , a street level tram would be awesome,

This argument and similar ones get beat up here often. The whole thing is a long drawn out story.

I take the bus everywhere, the Deuce stops at almost every casino, the SDX runs the strip but is a little quicker than the Deuce as it doesn't stop at every casino. You can take the bus to the Rio, downtown, outlet malls.... $20 for a 3-day pass unlimited rides, much cheaper than the monorail, cabs, uber, etc... I usually stay at ExCal and walk as far north til I'm tired and then bus it back. Will take the tram to Mandalay Bay or can walk inside from ExCal to Mand. going through Luxor, they are all connected. Will use the Tram from Aria to Bellagio and walk through inside to Monte Carlo if it's really hot out. But walking outside and seeing the architecture and grounds of the fronts of the properties is worth the walk. Break it up into a few days so you can really enjoy it and make sure you take water with you.

Thank you all, I got all the answers I could hope for and then some.

I'd like to take a moment to let you know how rare it is to find a forum with a helpful community like this. I have been on many a messageboard and most of them are a shitshow. I appreciate the sincere help. Not even one person said "USE THE SEARCH BAR"! 10/10 fellas.
