Just a quick note for those Canadians who file their own return, that the 1040NR form is now available on the IRS website. The instructions for 2015 have not been published yet. I will be waiting for the instructions first because I think the IRS will find any reason to delay a return.

Good to know, thanks for the update. Not that filing now will get it here before 2017 but might as well get it out of the way.

Since our 2014 returns are still on-hold, I doubt there's much use of filing the 2015. Thanks for letting us know.

Anyone out there receive a refund lately? I called January 12th and was given no timeline. In late summer I was told I had a credit. Very frustrating. Asked my host if other foreigners were having the same problem. Her reply was "nope your the first I heard of" Are they schooled to mislead us as well?

Nope, still waiting and we filed at the end of January last year. RMS has been useless! Your Host would have no reason to know unless other people had mentioned it to her.

2015 instructions are also available on the IRS website. There are no changes that affect filers from Canada claiming back gambling taxes. It is noted that those claiming using 1042S forms (the form you get from a handpay) can experience delays of up to 6 months. We'll likely experience the same crap as last year.

just thinking if more people complained to their hosts it might filter up to their higher ups and maybe the
casino industry would say this is ridiculous and lobby for us?
