Is Thrifty pulling out of Vegas? I have a car reserved from them April 29-May 9 and it said pick up at Dollar. They have been side by side for a while, but it sounds like Thrifty is moving out.

It could be that you are picking it up late, some of the smaller ones close their counters at a certain time and then you go to a different counter(company) to pick up.

Earlier in December when I got in line for Thrifty, the Dollar agents called me over to complete the paperwork. Be aware
that if you reserve a compact or larger vehicle, you will most likely receive a Chevrolet Spark.

There is big time consolidation in the car rental business. Amazing how many are cross owned.

Hmmm...We have a Thrify car rental for January 14th for 4 nights (fabulous price of $98 all included) and I'll let you know who helps us, but with our Blue Chip we "should" be able to go straight to the car so we'll see...

AND..I better not get a Spark - we reserved a "standard size 2/4 door" and it says a "Nissan Altima or similar" but my DH won't fit in a Spark!!

Thrifty and Dollar have been in the same little hut in the garage when you go to pick up the car for a few years now at the car rental facility.
So it's not surprising that they would tell you that, it could also have to do with the time of your arrival. They may only have a few people working.

We rented from Dollar in Orlando and found that Thrifty and Dollar for the most part shared the same pool of cars. I was kinda annoyed by that.

You should not have a problem. I had reserved a "Lock Low & Go" which is for a compact or larger car with them selecting the car. The car
the agent said I would be getting a Chevy Spark and to return to the desk if I was not happy. Fortunately, the attendant in the garage offered us a Jeep SUV which I took.
