Getting money in Vegas and out

I flew to vegas and brought 3k with me and that was easy but what if you want to to bring in 75K. Obviously cash is out of question. How could you bring that kind of money in Vegas and how to deposit it safely when you are ahead.

 

as long as your flying in the united states 75k is no problem traveling with cash , otherwise bankwire

 

if you need that kind of bankroll, you could/should apply for a line of credit with the casino and/or wire money to the cage

 

Like pp said, you're better off wiring it direct to the hotel & you can use it as a sort of LOC. Just sign markers as long as it's at the hotel.

 

Another option is if your home bank, where you have a checking account, also has a branch bank in Vegas.
You could then write a check for cash right at the Vegas bank ... and deposit your cash back into the bank, before you fly home.

 

big problem with that is they dont keep that much on hand you will have to pre order it , it takes around a week for large amounts.

 

At that level you need a line of credit or you can wire in the money. I'm comfortable carrying a lot of cash but not 75k.

 

Also depends on how big a branch and what bank it is. A small credit union might need a lot more notice than, say, a Citi or Chase. $75k might take a day or two of notice, but I'd be surprised if it took more.

Either way, I agree that a line of credit, or at the least wiring in front money, is the way to go.

 

citi bank in vegas needs a week just went thru this.

its not that easy get more than 5 to 10 k at a time out without advanvanced notice.

rember they get money once a week deliverd and only what they usualy expect to cover andanything very large you have to make aragements , ive been dealing with it and if its close to a friday its even harder as its pay day so they realy dont like to give up large amounts of cash

 

Well, I did not mean for someone to write a check for 75K on one visit. If someone wanted smaller amounts, a bank could certainly handle that. Otherwise, set up your line of credit with the hotel / casino where you are staying or playing.

 

I have no problem carrying $10-$20k around. But $75k is another story.

You are allowed to carry all you want on domestic U.S. flights. You can even carry that intl, but you must declare it. As to what other countries allow or expect, no idea.

You would think the next comment does not need to be mentioned, but people have been STUPID enough to ignore it.

Cash should be in your carryon, not checked luggage.

 

I find these types of discussions bemusing, really.

people who have never done something and have no intention of doing something, discussing hypothetical ways how they would/could do something.

the answer is simple: if you had the 75k to gamble with you'd know how to move it in and out.

not because people with 75k are smarter,

because anyone with 75k to gamble has moved much more than that around for other purposes

and knows the options and what's best for his situation.

 

there's many reasons why this is a terrible idea and nobody in his right mind would do it for 75k.

 

Why would you do this?

You are now walking around in Vegas with $75 in cash. How is that any different that walking around the airport with $75k in cash?

And, as Shifter pointed out, this is probably just a "what if" question and not for real. Most folks that would be taking $75k to Vegas already know how to handle it.

I see lots of notes about folks that want to wire ahead and deal with markers, and have a bankroll of a few thousand to even $10k or so. Personally, at those levels, it is way easier to just carry it or pay the nominal ATM fees. $75k is another story.

 

Awful glad to see this thread, as I've been chewing on a similar (though MUCH smaller) dilemma.

The gambling budget goal for our trip should be $15k +/-. I'm simply not gonna carry that much cash with me on vacay. Not gonna happen, it's no use telling me how easy or safe or whatever it is, it would just ruin my trip and peace of mind thinking about it. It'd be bad enough going straight to Vegas, but we're going through Los Angeles for a few days before Vegas to see family, and well.....nope. Non-negotiable issue.

So my options are:?
1. utilize ATMs. My bank has a $300./day stop limit. I really don't think they're gonna be able/willing to enlarge than to $3k/day. I intend to ask but am not very hopeful. Small area bank.
2. apply for a LOC. No problem as far as it goes, credit we've got out the wazoo, but my reading on here - and a few other sites - implies that having a LOC at a particular casino (our "home" casino) means that they expect you to spend that money at THEIR establishment. Not what I'm wanting/needing. I want to have/draw our "daily gambling allowance" in cash to use allover/wherever in Vegas. We are primarily slot/video poker players - need our daily cash allowance, of which our "home casino" will probably get a third or so, just based on our habits.
3. have our budget wired as front money beforehand. Draw our daily allowance, well.....daily. This seems to be the easiest solution.

Am I missing anything? There must be plenty of other potential Vegas visitors with this question: we're a little beyond low-rollers in the budget department, with more cash than is comfortable for us to carry, but way below the high-rollers who can facilitate money-moving at the drop of a.....gigabyte.

This. There is no drawback at all.

 

Based on your requirements, wiring front money sounds like the way to go. If you prefer a line of credit, however, there are easy ways to avoid the dilemma you are positing. But it sounds like FM is the way to go, especially since you're only talking about $15k

Just set up a LOC

 

The $300 daily withdrawal limit is very low. Most banks use $500. I utilize multiple accounts at 2 separate institutions and raise (which you can temporarily raise the daily limit with most banks) the daily withdrawal limits to $1000 per account, so in addition to my physical bankroll, I have access to several thousand per day, resetting at 9 pm (East Coast institutions) so as the gaming evening evolves, I can potentially withdraw 12k with only ATM fees. If I spend $80 in ATM fees for convenience, I'm good with that, because there have been many trips where my bankroll survives, so my net fee expenditure is zero.

Ok. Are there people placing large amounts of cash in checked bags? If so, there's not much hope that this will serve as a rescue.
