Golden Gate, Golden Gate, Golden Gate.

They always have $5 tables and the dealers have always been great. The music isn't too loud, there is some eye candy in the evenings with the dancing dealers, and they do a great job of treating the tourists well and keeping noise from any locals that pop in to a minimum. Case in point, we got on a table and it got hot and the other table filled up, so they moved our table to a $10 table. They allowed us to stay at $5 bets and when new guys came on the table, they had to go to $10. When they questioned why we could still bet $5, the dealer goes "Because these guys have been here the past 3 hours - where were you?"

My first trip to Vegas in 2002 we stayed in NYNY and took their craps course because I'd read up on it - always wanted to try it.
We didn't play much at NYNY because we wanted to be 'low rollers' as we learned.

Back then, we found Casino Royale with a $3 table I think. Best place to play on the strip for low-rollers in my opinion....never felt intimidated as 'noobs' and the atmosphere was loose and comfortable.

El Cortez is always 10X odds. It is rarely a $3 table any more. It is pretty much always $5. Plaza and Downtown Grand are also 10X. Both are usually $5, but both will quickly jump up to $10 if it gets busy. I think in the evenings the golden Gate is as loud as the D. I guess I'm getting old and crotchety, but my hearing is still good and I'd like to keep it that way. I can't stand to play at either place at night. The dealers can't hear the bets being called, I can't hear the point that's rolled, and it becomes a pain in the head, at least for me.

Depends on what day of the week your trip is but anytime on the strip @ casino royal you will find a packed $3 to $5 table that is lively with 100x!!!!!!!
Only downside is no top shelf liqueurs

And, I think the dealers there are newish. At least from what I've heard other people say. Slow/wrong payouts are the main thing. I'd pay the extra, and go to PH for the $5 tables. Always had fun there my last trip.

PH has a $5 table early in the morning, but it is usually gone before noon. I think I played on it last trip about a month ago.

Yeah, they don't last very long before they up it to $10. I was even playing one morning at about 5am and it was still $10. But, it was still a pretty full table.

If you are still around on the 19th, I arrive at Flamingo and I'll join you on the table! Casino Royale is cheapest on the strip. And the bar is right behind you for the dollar beers if the waitresses are slacking.

I suggest Luxor or Excalibur. Both will have a $5 game going in the morning afternoon, and Excalibur prob into the night. The crews have been nice and friendly every time I've played there. Get a spot next to one of the dealers opposite the stick man. They pay most of your bets so if you are right there it's easy to ask a question. Throw a pass line bet for the dealers every now and then and they will be very helpful.

golden gate and MSS are my go-to spots every trip. I like going around 6pm when the more experienced dealers and stickmen are working the tables as it can get slow and dicey with the trainees in the mornings on occasion.

Never seen a $5 table at Cromwell. Even at 8am with an empty table. Did anyone ever ask the pit to lower the minimum and be successful? (With the above conditions)

I have also seen a 5.00 table at the cromwell at times. It wont last long though. Once it fills they will raise the min quickly. They will usually do it during days when both tables are open and both tables are open but only 1 has 1 or 2 people on it and the other empty.

THere have been a lot of responses already, some of my recent favorites have been O'sheas, (sometimes $5), Margaritaville, and Cromwell. Although I normally oplay 10-15$, I have no issue settling down to a $5, particularly early in the morning or when the luck is bad. WHen i'm desperate I'll go to Casino Royale since I'm normally at palazzo. Since your status says you're starting there for $1 mickey's, might as well buy in to the craps table. You don't need to worry about anyone yelling at you for making a mistake, those tables are normally full of drunk guys doing stupid shit. But they get rowdy...never seen so many people get so excited over winning $10, lol.

On the Strip, afternoon, and $5 tables its Margaritaville and O'sheas, per your description which is what I prefer. Downtown it's The D, MSS, and good ole Binions
