I like mustard, but I find it has such a strong flavor to it.

When building a hot dog I always put relish on the bottom, then the hot dog itself, then ketchup on the left side, a little mustard on the right side and onions on top.

I never use ketchup, I stick with either brown or yellow mustard. "Chicago" style with the sports peppers, make the best hot dog.

No ketchup ever on a hotdog. I love a good "Chicago " style hotdog.

For me, ketchup adds a sweetness to a hotdog that I do not want. But, its a personal thing.

Mustard. Spicy first choice, but yellow will do.

At Nathan's in Coney Island (favorite stop of mrs and me on the way back from AC), they won't even put ketchup on their hotdogs. You can order with just about anything on your dog, but if you ask for ketchup they'll tell you it's not the way it's served here, and you can get your own ketchup at the fixin's table. A view I share.

My dad was a NYC hotdog vendor for 25 years, and he always said most people would prefer ketchup over mustard. A dog with ketchup and onions was the most popular.

For me, yellow mustard and relish put on the bun before the hot dog goes there (less messy and you don't lose any). I can understand some using ketchup, probably a taste acquired during childhood. BUT............MAYO.................!!!!!!

    Mustard, never ketchup!

Hotdogs must have mustard (French's yellow or spicy brown) and celery salt. Sweet relish and fine chopped onions are optional.

I like BBQ on my char dogs. But for hotdogs, I will go against the Chicago norm and say I prefer ketchup with relish and onions. I really hate mustard. I will only tolerate in on a Maxwell Street polish.

I haven't eaten a hot dog since 1987. That's when I built this house and moved in. Hate the taste. Love all kinds of other meats and sausages but just can't eat a hot dog for some reason.
