My Trip Report

This is a post TR summary for April, My apologies to readers for my epic failure in completing my semi limp Feb VD trip report. I must say after recovering in Feb from the post trip walking dead bacteria plague, I gave the will to finalize that losing trip report. Maybe during some summer downtime this year I shall return and give that TR the proper justice it deserves.

With much or little fanfare I now present for your reading pleasure, the next installment of Vegasy goodness. 'Funkhouser's Tequilla makes her clothes fall off, and goodbye to the Riv TR'
(Warning this TR is PG-13)

So the back story to this TR is a a 4 night, 5 day excursion to Las Vegas for an IT convention.
Mrs F, tagged along again since she needed a holiday from the mind numbing work of bovine reproduction equipment loan lending.

Thanks to the generosity of the Caesars “Can't Spare A Square” April promotion I was gifted with 4 nights Comp Us Non Gratus in a Ballys Indigo Tower Jr. Suite, $25 in free play, and 2 for 1 drinks at Sullys Bar.

We departed CVG airport only an hour later than our scheduled departure time at 8:40pm EST. Which I am sure was due to the exhaustive cleaning work the flight crew performed between de-planing and boarding.

Chips1.jpg

In fact our row was everything you would expect from a budget carrier. But the ice was cold and the TV worked.

The tail identifier on our flight said we were aboard the Stu the Jackrabbit plane, who I have to say was so filthy it looked as if Grizwald the Bear from Frontier N801FR had wiped his behind with the poor Rabbit.

We settled into our seats after boarding with the rest of the Zone 3 cattle, scoring our first win of the evening by having no other passengers sharing our row. We spread out and shoved all the carry on crap under that middle seat. Then Mrs F. and I promptly ordered up drink service where I settled into watching “The Hobbit” while she enjoyed a 4 hour marathon of “The Nanny” staring Fran Drescher

Thanks to the skill of our pilot we managed only two bounces on the runway at touchdown, and made it into Vegas around 9:50PM Vegas time. Luggage was out promptly, and we were at Ballys Check in desk around 10:18pm. Unfortunately our Suite had been given away, and we were relegated at least for nite 1 to an Indigo Tower base room, facing Paris. We quickly changed, and headed down to the bar-tops at Sully s where I managed to hit a quick quad just after near miss.

BartopQuad4.jpg Bartop_miss.jpg

Drinks were strong and Mrs. F wanted to get her drink on, so we did a couple of shots of Patron Tequilla, in between our mixed drinks. I managed to get on a run and hit a string of flushes, TOK, and straights to rally up to $260, promptly cashing out. We headed over to the Indigo Lounge where Mrs. F was in the mood to do some dancing, The cover band was good, however they took out the large dance floor, so Mrs. F had to get her groove on tableside.

After watching two sets by the band and a couple of more drinks. Mrs F persuaded me to head back to the room, but not before a quick stop at the Dollar Quack Shoot, where I got the bonus and managed to turn a hundy into $1112.

thousand_hit.jpg

The Tequila was doing its job, since Mrs. F decided to repay Bally's for our room screw up, by giving the Eiffel Tower Experience visitors something to talk about.

nakedballys2.jpg

We closed the drapes and ended the evening on a high note.

I woke up early the next morning around 5:30am Vegas time to slip in some gambling before breakfast. I took a stroll over to Cromwell for some people watching, and played some quarter Aces pulling out another Quad around18 hands in.

CromwellQuad.jpg

The game went south after that, I played for another 30 mins or so hitting lots of TOK, but no other major hands. I finally cashed out around $120, played some roulette dropping $100, and strolled back to Ballys around 7am. I got lucky Sun morning in the back slot area, starting off by hitting a couple of bonuses on the LOTR slots, getting a $340 dollar bonus on a max bet spin. I then rolled over to a Wicked Winnings slot near the elevator bank, picking up another bonus for $168. Not a bad run for the morning ending up a little over $300 before breakfast.

Mrs F, got up more then a little hungover and remembering little of the previous nights debauchery. Good thing I took lots of pics!
She had a morning spa appointment so she grabbed her gym bag and we headed over to Bacchanal buffet for Sunday brunch. Charged the steep $102
dollar meal to the room and was promptly seated via the Diamond line in a table with a view of the pool area.

IMG_1388.jpg

Food was excellent as usual including the complimentary Mimosas and Bloody Marys. I was disappointed to not find anyone cooking eggs to order on the line.
The brunch was loaded with seafood. I opted for the shrimp with grits, a couple of crepes, scramble eggs, and jumbo shrimp. After breakfast wife headed to Qua Spa, while I ran some errands
including picking up two free High Roller tickets, my $100 Diamond celebration dinner comp, and making reservations for NOBU on Tuesday evening.

I hit the lobby bar for a little while, not seeing much. Drink service by James the bartender was excellent, and I finally managed to pop a Quad after 20 mins of play.

lobbybar.jpg

After a couple of old fashions and the mimosas at breakfast, I had a pretty good buzz going and decided I needed to pace myself today. I took a stroll over to Mirage to pickup a MyVegas comp
I had for Zarkana tickets on Tues night. During the stroll over there, I bumped into my favorite street performer "Allan" who added some new props and a second "Allan" who I will call "Allan 2".
I decided to share a beer and get a couple of shots with the guys before moving along.

IMG_1391.jpg IMG_1392.jpg

Arriving at the Mirage, the line at the box office was pretty deep. I decided to try my hand at some three card poker, where a $200 buy in evaporated quickly. I managed to pull out a couple of pair plus hands, and the dealer flipped a TOAK which payed on the six card hand once. Players were taking a beating and dropping off the table fast. After ending up the last player on the table, I attempted a move pushing $50 on pairs plus and 15 on other spots, only to see it wiped out
by Dealer pulling a QJ over my Q10 three card hand.

I moved around playing some other $1 slots but not hitting anything, and burning another $200 before I decided to head back to Ballys for a room change.

Great start! More pics of wife pls, tyia.

And eff CET for offering 10/8/6/3/1/1 Aces and Faces (95.82%) vs. 6/5/4/3/2/1 (96.96%) on the floor. Did you remember to hold things K57 suited or 789 offsuit? :evillaugh

Yeah, pretty much VP is becoming unplayable in Vegas especially when I can get 9/6 Bonus Dlx up to $1 level here in IN/OH. We did make a run out to Sams Down on Mon afternoon, however
I was unable to capitalize on any good VP paytables, much like my visits to "The D LV"

I will look thru the collection for more Mrs F. audience appropriate photos. I think most of the Cabana pics are PG-13 rated, and not requiring any censorship. :)

Day 2 - On to the suite life

I hoofed it back to Ballys after dumping around $400 at the Mirage and picking up my MyVegas show ticket comp for Zarkana. Somehow I had managed to rack up around 400K bonus points on MyVegas so I redeemed a good chunk of these on 2 premium seats.

Diamond check was open and I was swapped to a Jr Suite on 25th floor close to the elevator. I suspect Ballys has a couple of different versions of these rooms since most of the youtube videos and descriptions of these rooms vary. This particular one did not have the nasty headboard wall. Regardless the room was spacious and besides being mildly worn was as nice IMHO as Jubilee Tower rooms. Contrary to description on Ballys website these rooms did not have separate tub / shower combo like the tower suites.

IMG_1405.jpg IMG_1398.jpg IMG_1395.jpg IMG_1396.jpg IMG_1397.jpg IMG_1400.jpg

After performing the room switch a roo, I did a quick tally of gambling budget, still up $900 for trip, -$200 for day. I decided to focus on more .25 VP for the rest of the morning.
I headed downstairs back to the quarter progressive bank and slipped a hundy in the machine I captured my Royal on during my last trip. As luck would have it, I came no where near a Royal this session.

However a string of TOK and Full Houses (8 this session) kept me in the black along until a couple of Quads, and 4 Aces no Kicker on DDB came along. After 2 hours I had somehow managed to roll my hundred dollar buy in up over $500 and cashed out booking a win for my morning session and eradicating my losing sessions over at Mirage a few hours earlier.

Nice TR, hope you can snag some of those $69 fares on Frontier from Cincinnatti. I'm a big fan of Frontier, but It's kind of gross that these planes are not cleaned properly between flights.

Actually, I have pre-booked a couple of trips over the next 3 months since CET is showing the love over the summer. With $179 round trip out of CVG to Vegas, and room +FP comps are too good to pass on.
I managed to hit a couple of 5000 point bonuses as well due to coin in on $5 dollar this year so I managed to hit diamond ASSperation level 1 this past trip.

Come visit Atlantic City, the stripers and blues are running into the back bays right now. Not Strippers, Stripers, as in Striped Bass.

Okay, so I left off around lunch time on Sunday. Mrs. F was finishing up at the Spa so I went down to the sports book
to check my wager Cincy on the Cubs game. Reds were down 5 to 2 due to a 3 run rally by the cubbies in 4th.
Managed to catch the tail end of the game to watch Kristopher Negron strike out giving up a hundy to the sports book.

IMG_1037.JPG

I walked over and met Mrs. F at Caesars and we grabbed a quick bite over at Earle of Sandwich in the remodeled Forum Casino Food Court.
It had been a few years since we ate here. I really like the new layout much better, they got some better quality quick eats place, and removed the annoying central registers.
After lunch wife wanted to walk over to Bellagio and check out the new conservatory display.

Bellagio6.jpg Bellagio5.jpg Bellagio4.jpg Bellagio1.jpg

Nice display, but I wish they would change up the Asian theme a little after Chinese New Year. I burned through a quick $60 at some .50 DDB progressives by HYDE
not catching anything. We stopped over at Paris to make diner reservations for Mon Ami Gabi, and I managed to win back my $60 on a Siberian Tiger slot machine
just outside the restaurant.

We walked back thru Paris, stopping at Sully's for a quick drink. Wife is learning to play VP, so I started her on some Bonus Poker for basic strategy and she managed to turn $20 into $40, while I managed
to dump $20 on the 6/5 Boner Deluxe fairly quickly.

We went back up to the room for a "Nap" and shower since we had 6:30pm dinner reservations with some Vegas friends. We got there right on time, and got a great table on the patio with perfect view of fountains.
For dinner we ordered a bottle of Anne de K Gewurztraminer 2013 which had a great nose and very smooth finish, just the way I like it not to crisp. For app we started out with the Seafood Plateau
which was awesome especially the tartar.

Patio_dinner.jpg

Dinner was the Bone-in Ribeye 22oz for me, and wife had the Trout Niçoise, we also ordered some Asparagus, and finished desert with the Bananas Foster Crêpe.
All total the check was around $225 with tip. Weather and view was about as good as it gets in Vegas.
