Not all rooms may be open for me as I paid with MyVegas points, but are there sections that are nicer than others?

Ask for a widescreen room in Tower 2. That is all you need. We stayed there in late March and I was very pleased with our room. Spacious, clean and modern. The bathroom only had a shower (no tub) and the TV is not High Def although it looked capable of that. BTW I got a free upgrade (I had a regular Queen room reserved) and did not even have to bribe the clerk.

Yeah, I prefer tower 2 as well. All of the rooms I've stayed in there have been in decent shape with the "refurbishment" in the past few years. Not sure if you use the pool, but it's also much closer to the pool area.

I just got back from 3 days in Tower 1, courtesy of MyVegas. Clean, quiet & cool. No complaints about it. Even though Tower 2 might be a bit spiffier, it's no biggie if you can't bump your stay up from Tower 1. :)

We were very satisfied with our "contemporary" room in Tower 2. Tower 1 rooms are more shabby and outdated.

Dewey, some pics of the room and view when we stayed there last October. I enjoyed the room very much.

Dewey, that is the older room. Tower 2 rooms look better.

We are actually thinking of staying here too as we are taking our kids to the Grand Canyon on our way to Denver. I know everyone's thoughts on taking kids to Vegas, but it's closer than flying into Phoenix. Would it be ok for kids? Never stayed at the Excalibur before.....

Excalibur has a game/arcade area downstairs for kids. The pool area is decent. Not far down the street is an M&M shop. There's enough to keep kids busy for a couple days.

Thanks Candy! I am not a fan of taking kids to Vegas, but it's closer and cheaper to fly into LAS than into Phoenix. Plus there's hoover dam....etc.
