Will a host charge you for rooms if you low play?

Hey all,

If I book rooms through an mLife host at a property I haven't stayed/played before (usually do trips of about 30k/day) and low play (say 5-10k/day), will they charge me for the rooms?

I am just asking because I am planning a trip with friends that won't be "gaming-focused", if you will, and don't have any corporate offers to burn.

I get that it will hurt my offers and piss that host off, but I assume I'll bounce back at another mLife property on a future trip and this won't be damaging long-term. As long as I won't get charged for the rooms, I'm happy.

Any experience with this?

Note: I asked this question two days ago on a similarly-themed thread but hadn't got a response. Need to make my booking by Monday.

 

Just communicate the expected low play with them so they can comp you more appropriately. It's simply the right thing to do.

and on a low day 10k

I would tell your host ahead of time that you will have very low play this trip but not to expect that to be the normal.
If they have you on record with the above play level and your host says you need to pay for your room then you really need to find a new host.

be lucky you're in Mlife. Wynn-Encore hosts will actually bill you the casino rate if you substantially low play (I think below 50% of upfront comp value is a good rule of thumb)

 

So I'm assuming then they won't bill me?

 

Don't be surprised if your offers dry up, you'd better contact your host and get their take on it.

 

You aren't going to get billed for the room as they will at least some play from you. For your sake though you should hope for a corporate offer the next time as your host might be too busy to return your phone call or email ....

 

You won't get billed. But advise host of the low play. If that's expected coin in vs actual bank roll that would be short playing. You are fine short playing CET one time but Mlife might really be impacted by one time short play.

 

It will probably depend on what you are getting. If they put you in a suite and do airport transportation and a big dining credit, they will be more likely to start rescinding all or part of the offer. If it's just a room, they will probably just start dialing back the future offers. I agree that you should book based on your expectation of play this time so that you maintain a good relationship with the host.

Since you are booking through a host, I would let them know. I'm sure it's not the first time and they'd probably appreciate knowing so expectations can be set accordingly.

Or, just book and pay for the room on your own and get comped on the back end?

 

Has anyone ever paid for a night on your own and asked a host to connect two nights to that?

 

I've had the front desk combine reservations for me upon check in. I assume they'd both need to be for the same level of room.

 

Yeah, that'll be the gameplan. And I'll just ask for rooms and no other other comps and then see what be done on the back end with any other spending.

Most people get upfront offers based on past play and will not get billed


Getting an offer based on verbal history is a totally different thing

On the other hand if you talk about 30k coin in day but only give ??, then your offer could change

 

Wouldn't it be just cheaper and less stress to pay for the rooms and not worry about under playing them?

 

I would never care if I got billed for a room due to low/no play because the room charge would always be less than the expected value saved from the decreased gambling and thus a positive financial outcome overall.

 

Probably simplest, cleanest just to book and pay for the room and have the Host comp off at the back end based on your play. That way you won't be pissing them off by low rolling. It may affect your future offers but the next time you call for assistance the Host will probably still be willing to help you.

I tell my host if I don't play enough i have my Credit card on file so just charge my card. Still better than giving play and losing.

If you lose the Actual lost should cover the charges. If you win and give low play just pay for the charges.


I like to know at check out. It is always better to check with your HOST at check out and see what is comped and what you will get billed for.
