Harrah's Total Rewards Visa Card

I remember reading here awhile back that if you get the TR Credit Card, it bumps you up to Platinum status and the hotel waives the dread resort fee. But after close examination of it's rules and exceptions I don't see that perk listed anywhere.

So anyone here have the full dope on this credit card because without the resort fee waived it's not much use to me. But with that perk it's over a $110 I can waste elsewhere in Sin City USA.

Once you get the card you get platinum status for a year from the date you get the card , and that gets your resort fees waived,

 

It still mentions the benefit on the TR's site here (Platinum tier status assure).

Oddly it doesn't mention it on the actual application site when you click on Details and Additional Benefits.

From what I remember, it takes up to a month for the status to actually apply after you've been approved.

 

I am wondering the same thing. I've had platinum status because of the card for a year and a half. For my previous reservations (made at the TR site), it explicitly said RESORT FEE WAIVED. For my upcoming reservation, I saw no such indication, even though I am platinum through next March.

The links BCMike includes don't mention the no-resort-fee benefit.

I also don't see the no-resort-fee benefit listed under "platinum" here:

So I'm pretty close to actually calling TR and asking about it.

 

YOu can go to the CAsino with the Credit Card and they will update you to Platinum Status, then waive the Resort fees. I did this last year at the Flamingo and recently at the Paris last week still having Platinum status from my signup last year all fees were waived. Also you get 10k points which equals 100 dollars if you meet the spend before you go.

Last Years signup bonus was much better with free tix to the 24 Hour Buffet instead of the crappy 2 tix to High Roller they are offering this year...

 

Great--I'm hoping to do the same at PH next month. But I wish I could point to something written, somewhere, stating that platinum status means resort fees are optional.

 

Wow, if you charge $750 on the card, you get $100 in rewards credit for signing up plus $100 in rewards credit for charging $750 for a total net value of $200 in rewards credit. I already have this Visa, but that's a nice sign-up offer.

 

Actually the way I read it is you get 10000 Total Reward Credits after you purchase $750.00........so that a bonus of only $100 in TR Credits. However, if it's true they waive the resort fee, a 5 day stay is $110 plus tax and then the $100 in TR credits so, yes over $210 to waste on booze or gambling.

It has never said resort fees are waived on my previous reservations on the TR website, but it is not listed in the total price, which it is if u try to book without signing in with ur TR number. And I have asked at check-in and told no resort fees, and I have never been charged resort fees.

 

We get 5 comps days every year and when you make the res there is no fee added but when we get there it is.

Now didn't you tell them you insist to pay the resort fee because it's for your convenience....LOL

 

No, but maybe on this next trip, I will demand that I pay for resort fees, since it is for our benefit. LOL

 

True! I just called them and they confirmed that it takes a month for the platinum status to show. That doesn't help me going November 10. And the free night is for AC ONLY.

 

Got a letter that says , based on TR visa spend, you qualify for VIP access pass.
Line access buffets and restaurants, hotel check in, taxis, nightclubs and entertainment venues and access to all resort pools.

 

How does that work, though? Do you just barge into the front of the line and say you have "VIP access?"

 

I have heard they give you a diamond card

 

Starting 2016 you lose the Platinum status unless you charge $5000 in this next year. I don't use that card much so I will be losing my status with them. Probably won't use the card anymore since we have switched over to mlife props.
