My Gambling/spending tracker

I've shared a similar spreadsheet with my past trip report, but I've got back and beefed up things.

I've created a spreadsheet within Google Drive (sheets) that is intended to keep track of one's spending/gambling. The intention for it being in Google Drive is that it can be updated on a mobile device on the go. I use the 'Google Sheets' app on my phone to make additions/edits right away. (can also be used with Ipad/Android/Laptop). I’d also suggest to make the sheet an ‘offline file’ within the app so you’re able to access it at anytime even when coverage in casinos can be sketchy.

I know that some/most will think it’s dumb or too tedious or pointless, but tracking like this is fun to me and I can see exactly where I sit on my gambling success/failure.

Here is the link to the Google sheet. At the bottom you can click on the separate tabs for each day. There are basic instructions/steps on the first tab, but please feel free to ask any questions. (I've entered in a lot of random costs/games to show how everything works and how it's tracked)

Awesome! I am going to add an expected/esitmated Theo column to mine on the last sheet. I am going to use the Wizard's numbers.

 

I thought about doing the same, but didn't know what #'s/calculations to use since it varies. If there's input on that I'd gladly add it.

Tracking has a lot of nice advantages.
Especially for Y/E tax reporting, which if one gambles enough they should really keep track like this.

 

Nice! Very detailed. I keep a yearly log of gambling using Google Sheets too, but not trip/food expenses. I record the date, casino, and win/loss for the session separated by game, with a total win/loss for each game and then one big win/loss for the YTD. (About $900 down right now )

It's much simpler than yours, but I like how much data you're able to get! To everyone else I highly recommend Google Sheets or your preferred spreadsheet software to keep track of your gambling! I found it much simpler and customizable than the various gamble tracking apps out there. And of course it's way better than from memory!

 

I have something like this as well, but it's really stripped down compared to yours. Helps when doing trip reports.

 

Everything of mine is handwritten. I have several books one as a general ledger that tracks my overall bankroll and separate books for each of the games I play. I also have a trip book that I carry with me where I enter play sessions in chronological order during my trip. Spreadsheets would make calculating theo and such easier but I thought for tax purposes they always insist on handwritten records.

 

it always seems like the IRS are a bunch of Luddites. It's not like I can't lie just as easily with handwritten vs electronic records. At least with electronic there would a sort of electronic paper trail most of the time. MS Word has a way to track changes, I assume excel might have something similar.

 

I don't see why handwritten vs spreadsheet tracking would make a difference, but I really have no idea. I don't really do it for tax purposes, just do it for my own curiosity.

 

This is fantastic, kramer! Thanks for sharing. I just have a dumb question: I don't understand entering the variants "names" for each game in columns I through M? What am I missing?

I did that to account for differences in how me/someone else might input the game name in columnB of the next sheets. For example, if you play Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em, sometimes you might input it as "Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em", "Ultimate Texas Hold Em" or even "UTH". By completing the alternate names in columns I to M this will account for the different input variations. Same with playing Blackjack, I found myself typing in 'blackjack' or 'bj' at different times and the formulas wouldn't account for this since the same game is being called different things. By entering in the different names in columns I though M the sheet will look for those alternate names.

Hopefully that didn't further confuse.
