Best day to book?

I had checked the other week for a weekend in July and had a free room at Bally's. Went to book it today and saw it was now $50/night. Any chance I will see it go back to $0 on a different day?

Always possible, but it may also be that they have now sold most of their rooms so no need to drop the price anymore.

If you are booking through the hotel directly, book as quickly as you can. I have yet to find a vegas casino that charges you for canceling a room reservation. Again this is going through the casino, not a place like orbitz or expedia.

Even right now if you are fine with $50, book it and you can always change it later if the price goes down.

 

Yeah usually, the earlier you book the better (if booking directly through the casino and not through 3rd party sites). They only have a certain amount of rooms at certain prices. If you find a rate you're ok with, book it then if a better one comes along, you could always change.

 

What the previous posters said is correct for making regular reservations. You can always cancel unless they tell you specifically at booking time that you can't. It can get trickier if you're going for a comp, but earlier is nearly always better either way. Flights are much more sensitive to what day you book than are rooms or cars.

My rule is to get something booked that I can cancel, then check back occasionally and rebook if things change. Cars in particular will often drop in price.

 

Lesson learned. Next time I will book as soon as I think I am going and cancel if I have it.
