Not sure if anybody read the Earl and Wade saga from this summer, but I will be having my bachelor party in Vegas this summer. I will be there for 8 days, others just coming in and out...so basically a weeklong bachelor party that I will be doing another live trip report for.

I want to stay at Excalibur to save lots of money and use myVegas comps for three free nights. I could care less about the room itself. Simply a bed. Here are my concerns:

Fun casino, easily accessible liqour stores, cheap food, cheap gambling

What about the 21+ pool? Probably lame and quiet but figured I would ask. In n Out within walking distance is a plus. Bus stops at Excalibur? I know about free tram to Luxor and MB. Trop and Hooters across street are cheap gambling limits.

    SO...stay or no?

I appreciate any help whatsoever. Thanks in advance.

Can't speak to the easily accessible liquor stores (I always have a car) or walking to In n Out Burger (your walk will seem longer in the summer heat) but based on your other concerns, you should definitely stay at Excalibur. Congrats on your upcoming wedding and looking forward to reading your trip report! :peace:

The burger really isn't within walking distance. Well, it might take 30 to 40 minutes each way. But Excal will give you a cheap room, cheap food and cheap gambling. Seems like the property meets most of your demands and you get a comp. So go for it

What do you enjoy/not enjoy about the casino? I don't think I have actually set foot inside. I think I read there are only two craps tables there?

And yes In n Out is walking distance enough for me. Last year walked from Orleans mid summer. Brutal

    There are 4 craps tables.

Casino has a good layout IMO.

I've walked through Excalibur many times and to me it smells bad and there are always tons of kids running around. Further, you said "I want to stay at Excalibur to save lots of money and use myVegas comps for three free nights. I could care less about the room itself. Simply a bed." so I figured you were all set. Do you have any other options using your myVegas comps? I had my bachelor party across the street at MGM Grand and had a great time! However, you can always stay at Excal on the comp and travel to the other casinos with your crew...

Yeah that is essentially my plan. Lots of people will be staying at various casinos. Most people from flamingo down to NYNY so that location isn't terrible in relation to others. I figure lots of time spent at MGM. Get hammered and play the horse race game

The last time I stayed at the X was almost 25 years ago. I can't believe it had gotten any better. I wasn't impressed then. I walked through a couple weeks ago and there was a smell that I didn't like. Way too many kids for me too. With all that said, if you are just using it as a place to crash then it is located close enough to better places. I am not sure in and out is in walking distance. With Tropicana in the middle it may look close but not a straight line. Have a great time. Any hotel in Vegas is better than not being there at all.

I like the Excalibur...stayed there last year in a "contemporary" room, which was quite nice. Nothing fancy, but I was very impressed for how cheap it was.

Lots of cheap food options and well located on the south strip. There are bus stops fronting the excal and the MGM if memory serves. I would definitely recommend staying there in your situation.

Edit: also maybe your bachelor party will bump into some bachelorette parties coming from the thunder showroom :p

I like the way you think with the thunder idea there. I figure buying a bus ticket will be good idea as long as the stop is at that intersection on both sides of LV blvd.

I've stayed there several times 7-8 yeas ago and like the place. The rooms are dated but clean. Casino if fairly large with a wide variety. Liquor store upstairs (although its more expensive than a traditional liquor store. If that bothers you, walk over to ABC Store by MGM. Easy access to Luxor/MB, NYNY/MC/MGM/Aria with easy (free) tram access from Monte Carlo to mid-strip. Several food options.

Pool is okay and recently renovated but last summer, MGM would let you go to any pool.

Based on your criteria, I'd definitely stay there and it should meet your expectations.

I will admit, I cannot imagine walking forty minutes each way for fast food. But to each their own!

Personally, I am not a fan of the casino. It smells bad and the tables are very often not very clean. Its been many years since I stayed in one of the rooms, but it was fine when I did. Sounds like price is your main concern. If so, after your comped days run out, you may want to look into moving over to Hooters. Its usually very cheap as well, close to MGM where you will meet your buddies, and also about a 40 minute walk to the In/Out burger near the UNLV campus

There are stops fronting excalibur as well as nyny, so yes both sides have them.

I stayed at the Excalibur many years ago and I remember having a hard time figuring the layout of the place and going to the wrong tower elevators more than once. I seem to remember some posts on here a few years back about people going to the room and banging on the door to get in only to find out they were in the wrong tower.

Still trying to figure out the 40 minute walk to In-n-Out. There is one at I-15 and Tropicana... about a quarter mile...

Move next door to Luxor. I can't believe the price differential is that great. The smell, the dirtiness and the door that leads out the strip, which looks worse than the toilet from Trainspotting, are some of the many reasons not to stay.

Well I had never been to in n out before, so took shuttle to Orleans and decided to walk to in n out. I don't mind a long walk but only if I have to. The walk from Excalibur to in n out is nothing for me.

You'll hear doors slamming in the hallway no matter what time it is. No sleep for you.

Someone with a screaming baby will check in next door to you or above you or below you.

The only place on the strip worse than Excalibur is Circus Circus. They're the only two properties on the strip that cater to families with children.

8 days is a heck of a long time to stay on the Las Vegas strip as well. I've normally had enough of it after 2 days.

For you I recommend one of the Caesars Entertainment properties between Flamingo Rd. and The LINQ, that whole block has been renovated and made more upscale although Flamingo and Harrah's still have moderate prices.
