Headed to Vegas 12/6 – 12/10 and staying at the Aria. This will be our first trip in two years, and have been doing some research on restaurants the last couple of days. Most of the restaurants I want to go to are downtown, which is cool for the downtown area, but makes the commute from Aria down there a little longer. Carson’s Kitchen is a definite (provided Chef Simon’s passing doesn’t lead to their closure). I’ve read some wonderful things about the place and love the menu and pics of the inside.
I’m having trouble deciding between Andiamo and Hugo’s Cellar. A friend of mine swears by Hugo’s, but the pics I’ve seen make it look a little dated. Andiamo has great reviews on yelp and Trip Advisor. Has anyone been to both? Id be interested to hear a comparison of the two.

I've heard that Hugo's Cellar is a good "date place".

Between the two, I've only eaten at Andiamo's. I've eaten there 7 or 8 times. Every time has been thoroughly enjoyable.

Andiamos has better food. Hugos has better atmosphere and service. Whichever you value the most, go that direction.

Andiamo for me, but I did enjoy my dining experience at Hugo's, too.

This is accurate, although I'd point out that Andiamos still has pretty good service, and Hugos still has pretty good food. It isn't like a total give/take. I prefer Andiamos - I go to the restaurants for food more than service.

Never been to Andiamos but I can attest to the fact that at Hugo's, the experience is not about the food. The food is average at best.

The experience is about your date, the treatment of your date, the cozy feel of being in a dimly lit cellar, and excellent service.

If you're used to expensive steakhouses (anything with wagyu on the menu), you won't enjoy the food.

If you like Outback steakhouse, you'll think it's great.

That's the best way I can describe Hugo's.

Agree, the food at Hugo's is not great and has been left well behind these days
