I think it's safe to say, that like NYNY, Excalibur and Circus Circus, that without MAJOR renovations and almost near demolition, there is no way to rebrand these properties.

BUT, hypothetically, could Paris be rebranded?

What's "Really Parisian" about it? Arc de Triomphe (which is covered by those hideous banners of Ramsey and the Italian dork from Ft Lauderdale (I'm from Florida, I can say it)....so it's not even the Arc any longer, and then of course the Eiffel Tower (which is a landmark of the strip, so it can't be removed)....other than that, what is there?

The facade used to be a combination of The Louvre the Paris Opera House, but that was messed up when the pushed it out, took out the Fountain (La Fontaine des Mers, from Place de la Concorde at the foot of Champs-Élysées) it took away a lot of the true "Paris" look and internally, almost NOTHING is truly Parisian

So, COULD Paris ever be re-branded, to what? Could the leave Tour Eiffel and remover the Arc, add or convert it to something akin the the Brandenberg Gate and make of additions from Europe and just re-brand it "Europe?" Yes, yes...crappy name....I know, but you get the idea.

Then internally, it could be sectioned into countries of Europe

This comes to mind because I am headed to Vegas on Friday, to stay at Paris and attend their 16th Anniversary Party, which coincidentally, is 16 years to the day of my first trip to LV. Totally coincidental, as I stayed at the now closed Riviera on my first trip and had no idea of Paris, the hotel/casino, or it's grand opening, but it was all anyone talked about and was all over the news.

Paris used to be more "Parisian" than today. The waitresses wore different uniforms, almost "bellman" like, the bathrooms actually played French lessons.....the staff would make initial greetings in French (simple Bonjour/Bonsoir/Bon nuit) and overall made more effort to be more French/Parisian....now....you have a British Restaurant, an Italian, a noodle shop, and overall, other than several structural issues mentioned prior, Paris has dropped the whole Parisian theme

So, back to the point....Could Paris be re-branded, and if so, to what and what changes would be necessary to create your new vision of "Paris LV Part II?"

Paris is probably the dirtiest city in Europe. If Caesars would release all janitorial staff that would make Paris LV more authentic.

Seems like a lot of effort for no real return. The current trend in Vegas is to eliminate themes and just go for chic/hip/modern/luxury, select the appropriate set of adjectives to describe the look you're going for.

My wife is French, and first trip to vegas was very excited to walk down and see the Paris. She was underwhelmed with its "French-ness", but as you observe, its lost some of that, just as Excal, Luxor, and a lot of the other heavily themed casinos have been stripped of much of what gave them that aura.

Could you rebrand Paris? I suppose. But I don't think turning it into a mini-Epcot by representing different countries is likely. If anything I would envision as renovations occur over time, a gradual elimination of the thematic touches that are there (the store architecture, the signage, and the nomenclature applied to the various areas of the property) in lieu of more traditional ones. So Champagne Slots becomes High Limit, Le Buffet becomes the Buffet, etc.

Anything can be rebranded. Presumably the Arc and Tower would be torn down if they did, however, and they would need extensive indoor renos, and the mall would be a non sequitor the same way some of miracle mile still feels like Desert passage.

Why on earth would they want to?

Vegas has eased up on the themes of resorts everywhere. At a certain point, they likely found excessive adherence to a theme actually turned off more potential visitors then it brought it. So they are a Paris theme, but don't hit you over the head with it. It has Italian and English restaurants, and a noodle shop? Well, if you don't have dining variety anyone who does not want to eat french eats somewhere else, then maybe they play somewhere else.

I mean, I'm just not sure why you are asking the question. You could make the theme of Luxor geometry. But no one would. Just because they ease up the theme doesn't mean they would or should rebrand.

They could also tell the staff to be rude and haughty for absolutely no apparent reason.

But that goes to my thinking, if Paris, was re-branded, you could drop the old classical French decor, and modernize the rooms and spaces to be more like modern European cities, even a more modern Paris.

Sure you can rebrand it. But IMO there is still value in the name. People still know of Paris LV and have positive opinions of it no matter how strongly the theme is installed. The expense of rebranding only makes sense if it's like Imperial Palace and rebranding the only way to get people to consider it an option again. That being said, an overhaul is needed one way or the other, A better play would be to install modern French decor instead of the classical approach from before.

Agree with this post completely. Paris needs updates, but not to the theme. It just needs some renovations which can be done either in French style or simply modernized luxury, both are associated with Paris. Similar to how Venetian is themed without really being themed - a luxury resort with some random references and tributes to Italy and Venice thrown in.

If I was the owner (not), I would never think of rebranding. Maybe step it up a bit, but really... the inside, especially the shop area is unique. Why spend money to take away something that apparently is still doing well.

Rebranding this property makes no sense.

The hypothetical wasn't "does it make sense" but "could it be done, and how?"

Again, some properties are purely stuck in a theme, like NYNY or Excalibur

But at the same time, had you asked 15 years ago if the new Aladdin could be re-themed, the response would be the same as all above...."Why?"...."It's iconic"...."People know it"....."Too much into the theming to change it"....but here we are and the only real remnants of the Aladdin theme are the bath fixtures in the rooms...and PH seems to be doing quite well

So again, it's not "should it be" but, "COULD it be?"

I haven't stayed there in a few years but it really isn't that Parisy anymore anyway, at least on the inside. Other than the signs saying the "Le Restrooms" there is nothing that makes you (or at least me anyway) think of Paris when I am there. To make this place better they need to update the rooms because now they are Le Outdated.

Paris is the one CET casino (other than Rio) that I always avoid. I've started to enjoy Bally's but I don't think I'll ever enjoy Paris...I just find it dark and always find it to be a much older crowd. I'll stick to PH and The Linq

I'll just chime in that wifey and I really DO like the Paris common areas, but do see that there is need of some updates and renovations. One recent total makeover is the central bar, which we feel they did a spectacular job of. The casino washrooms are getting VERY tired, with the little bowl sinks and worn tiles etc. The Gustavs bar needs a makeover soon, as it's incredibly tired. We completely enjoy playing VP there, and do so many times during our visits. But way over to the far right side of the bar (as you're sitting at it) there is the most rancid smelling odor, like vomit. When asked, the bartenders admitted something about their beer taps going under that area, and after years of leaking, the smell is there...nothing can be done without tearing out the bar. Then ITS TIME TO DO SO!? And while we love the central strip location, which is why we stay there, the hotel rooms themselves are really really tired. The pinkish discoloured tiles in the bathrooms and showers is unappealing. And overall the rooms need an update, big time. I've written reviews stating that a number of times on their site. But, we continue to stay there 2-3 times a year. Our opinion is that a room in Vegas is just to sleep in, so who are we to complain...haha.

Paris is the favorite of my wife and I as well. We've always gotten Red Rooms, and have never had any complaints with them. I see this opinion a lot, so not sure if folks are talking about the Red Rooms or the "regular" ones. The high floor Strip views are spectacular, especially at night. The LeCentral renovation is great, our favorite place to just hang and chat and some of the best people watching. The rest I don't really notice so maybe we're not as picky I guess? :)

Usually the room complaints are about the blue rooms but the Red Rooms were done long enough ago that folks will start complainig about them, too.

Though I can't speak to the rooms, I would agree that some areas of Paris need a makeover. The bathrooms were not in good shape (wife even took a picture to send a friend about how dated they were), but the new Le Central bar was very nice. We did enjoy the gaming floor more than Bally's, and the cocktail servers were friendly and quite frequent. To me, the only thing French about Le Buffet were the crepes and expensive European price. (Okay, maybe the snooty server)

Very interesting topic!! I will tell you this I was at Paris the FIRST NIGHT it opened!! Have a few friends that work there and the place is going down the toilet and its a shame!! When the place opened it was great. The sports book bar just got HD for the tvs a month ago. Its a CET property going down the drain and trying to save it would be a waste of $$$$. The rooms were the BEST at one time. My understanding is its for sale!!

They are putting what little money they can out of capital budget into the place. But its an aging property. The only effort I see with a de-theming would be the rooms during the next remodel.
Given they have a lot of old room inventory in the place, I doubt they would ever spend money on something that has negative return.

Look at Luxor, MGM took away the best thing that POS had going. I have zero interest in staying at that dump since MGM took away all the Egyptian themes.
I miss the Central park theme at NYNY. IMHO the luxury brand thing is played out in Vegas, at least for attracting new visitors. I think what Resorts World has planned could be a kickoff to some interesting development on North Strip.

Paris will get some tweaks, but given it is not a high tier property in the CET portfolio and given the bankruptcy little capital dollars will be going to that place outside of room renovations. I was highly surprised they re-did the casino bar except that they figured it was a revenue producer.

I would love to see them redo the rooms in more of a 30s French Deco theme. That likely won't happen if they follow current trends of the room redos in Vegas.

    Something like this:
