    My Trip Report

Been a few weeks since I made one of these. I went from no AC for almost 2 years two back to back Air Borgata runs in June and July.

AC was PACKED 4th of July Weekend.

I did my best to put everything I know about the new Tier Matches from Hard Rock and Ocean Resorts in here. And I took plenty of pictures of both properties.

    Enjoy!

Good report, love the pics of the beach between Harrahs and GN. Never see anybody there. New hotels are giving slot play and free rooms out like candy. Trying to grab off people from all the others I guess. Right now its a low-rollers(like us) paradise.

    Nice report!

I kind of felt the same as you about the slots at Hard Rock. I have a soft spot for the old girls and every machine in that place is brand new.

I thought Ballys/Caesars AC were ridiculously tight. What a shame.

Those slots with almost-full screens of WILDs but only give you a hundred bucks... just wrong.
As if they think we're all about bells and whistles, not money.. sheesh. Don't they know I can listen to this all day long, free of charge?!

Oh, and yes.. great trip report!

Enjoyed reading your report. Interesting to read your observations on the new casinos. Was in AC and stayed at Hard Rock on the 4th. Unlike you, I played and stayed and got fleeced. Lots of shiny new machines with all the bells and whistle signifying nothing. They really did a nice job with renovating the casino and rooms. Other than the machines sucking up my money, I hated that the buffet didn't open until 10am. Yeah they have other food outlets, but why open so late. We're not all Club kids passing the morning away in a stupor.

I also went to Ocean and did the match. I agreed that nothing much has changed from Revel. I always liked Revel so quite enjoyed the quieter atmosphere. Despite the changes, I still got lost trying to get out. Time will tell whether it will succeed.

I was also at the Borgata. Good to see that your brother was very lucky at first and still left up, and you got back some of you losses. Me and my friends weren't so fortunate but I always enjoyed my time at the Borg. We may have passed each other at Borgata without knowing it.

I've posted directions on how to get to that beach, and it has free parking. Which may or may not be legal. And yet it is almost always empty. The going is good right now for mooching in AC. Get it while you can!

Yup! They had some older titles in new cabinets. I saw stinking rich for sure. But there was just way too much repeat of the exact same machines in different locals. A few times I thought I back tracked, but nope. Just the same machines in a different spot!

Thanks Makuk! Post those pics for the boards!

    Short and Sweet!

So true! I haven't stayed at an AC CET joint in years. I kept getting my ass handed to me there. I hear Harrahs in the Marina is a little better. But there is a reason why Borgata is always at the top of slot returns in town, and Ballys and Caesars never sniff it. They are just grind joints.

I can see their slots being tight! The Seminoles have a history of setting up shop in resort areas and fleecing folks on the slots. Ask anyone that has been to Hard Rock Tampa!

Knowing that they will be giving away a bank full of free play, and attracting shoppers just by being new, I can see them holding high on the machines and being able to adjust better on the fly if they need to.

As for that buffet, people were queued up waiting for the gates to drop and the line never died down. If they had opened at 8 like Borgata, they could have had the gates open and the turnstiles rolling!

    Thanks!

    Thank you Pebbles

Thanks for sharing the pics of HR & Ocean. I always liked playing in the Taj casino even though it was admittedly a worn out dump by the end - but it looks like HR did right by it.

Good God wtf did they do to Showboat? That's depressing. That was one of my favorite properties to stay in - they took a perfectly fine hotel and casino and that's what you get?

Ocean looks pretty much exactly the same. I'm wondering if they still have those sitting areas around the property. That's one thing I thought they did well - sometimes you just want to sit and take a breather.

    It's ON!
    Finally picked a second hotel

Showboat was some creepy Scooby-Doo stuff gong on in there. You can take the elevator up and walk around where the buffet and stuff used to be too. Creepy!

    Great Report!
I was amazed at the parting comments & last photo on your report - where you noticed the out of service machine with all the info about coin in / out, games played that occurred on it over its lifetime etc. That is some crazy amount of $$$ going through one machine.

Great/fun report. Love the shells you picked for the girls. I'm from PGH. So, I know all about "pop." My Long Island cousin always says to me(with a thick NY accent), "Ya drink soda, pop's what you call your dad!" Yes, the Showboat looks very sad. Used to love to play there & listen to the Dixieland band.

I used to go a lot to Atlantic City, but have not been there in many years. My favorite hotel in the later years was Revel. I wonder if you saw any good VP there or at Hard Rock. I have read no account of what VP is like in these now new casinos. But you say Revel has lots of the same machines. They used to have full pay Jacks, I wonder if they still have those. Nice to see the one photo of the big long mobile at Revel, and that it is still there, I wonder if they cleaned it as last time I saw it was full of dust, it must be a pain to clean, but it needs cleaning now and then as otherwise it will not shine as well. For a while I was a regular at Showboat and stayed many times at the Bourbon Tower, I think it was named. I could remember the casino from your photos, how desolate it is now, sad, sad. Hard Rock looks totally different from Taj, even livelier. Resorts looks the same. Thanks a lot for the report and photos.

Thanks DB! We all know the math is against us, but its crazy to see what one little machine can produce!

I had lunch with a guy from Georgia not long ago. He insisted on calling all Pop "Coke". We ordered drinks for lunch and he asked the waitress "What kind of Coke do you have here" and she said "Regular and Diet". He goes "You dont have Dr. Pepper or anything else"?

Thats when it hit me what he was talking about and he said he thought everyone called Pop/Soda "Coke" since that is what they call it "Back Home"

As for those shells, a quick dip in some bleach at home and they are ready for painting! If anyone needs a brightly colored Authentic Atlantic City seashell, feel free to drop by my garage sale this weekend. My kid will be selling them for $1 to get money for Disney World. Even if that means I have to give people $1 to give to her LOL.

I dont think anything ever changes at Resorts! I didn't check out the VP paytables but I do remember seeing the same Game King cabinets in the exact same spot at Ocean as they were in Revel. So I assume they are the same. A lot of those machines came with the sale of the building.
