Godamn you...I just spit Jai Alai and cocaine all over my monitor.
1 week is alot of time.. I remember I was there for a week... We were burned out by the 5th day lol...
Saddest view ever... bye bye Vegas
Back to reality... had a great trip! Ill post some final thoughts, observations and details in the next day or so...
In the meantime a couple random pics...
Thanks for great TR had fun following!!
Ok, I'm going to start this more detailed report of the trip now before the memories get too hazy...
Our flight was a little late taking off from Toronto so we ended up landing in Vegas about an hour later than scheduled, but all was good because we were in the Holy Land!
Took the shuttle to the car rental facility...rentals were expensive this trip in comparison to every other trip I've ever taken. Not sure why. Anyhow, we had a full size from Dollar reserved and they were slammed so when we go to the garage the guy asked what we had reserved, we told him, then he said "you want that Mustang 5.0 GT over there?" Um ya!
We made our customary stop at Wal-Mart to grab drinks and snacks for the room then cruised on over to the Wynn to check in and start our vacation!
Luckily we beat out Wynn charging for self-parking by a few days. Got checked in and were put on the 59th floor facing the magnificent Strip (I called ahead and mentioned gf's b-day which may have helped).
After getting settled and a couple wobbly pops we went over for a bite at Stripburger across the street. I like the food here and once again it did not disappoint. Following the we went back to Wynn to see what kind of damage we could do. Part of the deal we got when booking was 3x points as well as 2 free buffets. I was hoping to play enough to entice some deals for the future.
Unfortunately the only damage that was done was to our bankroll as all the machines we tried didn't give much play. But, the drinks were flowing and fun was had! At some point I decided to head over to the Mirage, I like it there and the plan was to get the gf signed up for a players card and use that with the hopes of getting some offers that we may be able to use back-to-back in the future. I was excited to play my favorite Return of the Sphinx machine...but unfortunately it was no longer where I had left it We played a few other machines with not much luck. Even tried a bit of Let-it-Ride without any luck there either.
We ended up heading back to Wynn and up to crash as we had woken up at 3am Eastern Time and it was now after midnight in Vegas. Well over 24 hours being awake kicks you in the ads at some point haha
We didn't have any wins but it was still great to be in Vegas!
Day 2 to come along with more pics...
These are some great pics. That view!
Day 2 started earlier than we were hoping for thanks to the time change. However, we were early going down to the pool and we basically had our pick of the loungers. Relaxed for awhile and bought some poolside drinks...
The tables at the pool opened at 11am. As I mentioned at the time I had the idea to play some blackjack which would cut the cost of drinks down significantly (at least that was the idea)... the two drinks pictured above came to $40 with tip so free drinks sounded pretty good. A 15 minute blackjack session yielded 2 'free' drinks and a $250 loss. So it would have been much cheaper to sit our asses in the loungers and pay the $20 per drink haha
After the pool we went up to the room to get cleaned up then went out to grab a bit to eat. Maggiano's was the place as I have to have mom's lasagna at least once a trip. We also had the zucchini frite to start and that yummy food did the trick.
From there we stopped at the Tix 4 Tonight place at Fashion Show Mall and got tickets to see Mat Franco the following night. Seen him on AGT and wanted to check out his show.
Tickets were purchase so we went out on a quest for rewards... Caesars has a promotion where you get 200 bonus tier credits for every 25 tier credits you get at Caesars properties in Vegas on slots and tables. And a bonus 200 tier credits if you get both at a property.
We started at Harrah's with slots, then played some blackjack. I think I broke out even on the blackjack but found out later that I was 1 point short of the 25 required. I asked about 4 different pit bosses at 4 different places how much time it would take to get 25 points playing BJ at a $25 table. Nobody could give me an answer. One person actually said it would take 'at least' 45 minutes, but she wasn't sure.
We moved on to the Linq where I did slots but no tables, the Flamingo where I did the slots but got my ass handed to me at the tables so no tables badge there. Then over to Cromwell, Bally's, Paris, and Planet Hollywood getting the slot badges at each. We crossed over to Caesars for the slot badge and I played BJ there which cost me $150. I didn't think I got the badge but it turns out I did.
We went across to the Beer Park for some nachos and beer, the beer was free using My Vegas coupon. The view from up there was pretty sweet. Food wasn't bad...might be back.
This trek took us well into the night so we decided to start making our way back to the Wynn. We made a quick stop at Harrah's for blackjack in order to get the 1 point I needed for the 25 points and the bonus badge. That was successful.
Overall badge progress...
All in all I had zero decent hits on any machine. I got excited a couple times triggering the bonus on the big Buffalo Grand machines at Harrahs. From my experience I've witnessed some big hits in these bonus rounds...however my first bonus on a $3 bet yielded a whole $4 and the second was less than $30. That was depressing haha
FYI... this patch of sidewalk in front of the Palazzo smells like shit. Literal shit. It's like every single person inside the Palazzo took a dump and piled it on the sidewalk. It's invisible, but you can definitely smell it. So gross. They need to do something about that.
We finally made it back to the beautifully smelling Wynn...
Played some BJ and actually won a bit before hitting some slots. I did ok on the Buffalo Grand here, it was the same machine I hit a $1700 jackpot on during my new years trip. Put $100 in and had it up to over $600 at one point. I was hoping for a bonus round but alas it never happened. I cashed out around $350 or so. We played a Michael Jackson machine, Icon I think it was called. Got some good play out of it, almost an hour's worth but no big hits. Cashed out even and went up to bed.
Day 3 coming soon....
My view from the Mustang at Tropicana...
This is right outside of Morel's, correct? We notice that every time we walk past. It's a combination of hot garbage and death.
Yes that's the spot. And that is an accurate assessment haha
Well I really shit the bed with this TR
I guess I'll abandon the play by play and skip to some general thoughts and observations, along with a few random pics...
I love the Wynn... the whole place is beautifully manicured from top to bottom. I did notice some very minor wear and tear things in the room, but nothing major at all, in fact if it wasn't for my knowledge of how Wynn wants everything 'perfect' I probably wouldn't have even noticed anything.
The offer we had booked on was $129/night x3 nights. We put about 10,000 points on the card during our stay and they comped us one night on the back-end.
I will definitely stay again in the future should any decent deals come my way.
Delano was nice. We had a scenic suite booked on a 3- night comp offer, but when we checked in the lady said we'd be on the 12th floor without a view of the Strip. So we opted out of the scenic suite and into a normal suite (which is basically identical except for the windows I py being on one wall) on the 26th floor facing the Strip. I liked our view...
The hotel was nice, definitely no Wynn haha There was a smell in the hallways and lobby area on and off for about half our stay which was kinda gross. The walk to Mandalay casino wasn't that bad. I've never stayed at Mandalay so I can't compare the Delano stay with that but I can say that I would be back, and most likely stay at Mandalay instead of Delano, just to try something different and be able to compare. The trek to the pool area from Delano was long, I didn't mind but I could see how some would.
We charged most to the room as we had $100 resort credit, and my express comps took care of the rest which was nice.
How many hotels can you see in this photo...
We aren't big foodies, so there nothing fancy to talk about haha We stopped at my regular stops: Stripburger, Maggiano's, Grand Lux Cafe, Carnegie Deli... we also ate at the Wynn buffet and Terrace Point Cafe. We tried the buffet at Mandalay Bay as well as House of Blues. We had some nachos and beer at the Beer Park at Paris. Some pizza at a place in NYNY, and a pub in Luxor. I think that's about it. We didn't have any issues anywhere, food was good.
We didn't have any solid plans prior to the trip. We talked about seeing a couple shows, but as it turned out, the gambling was pretty bad so it became cheaper for us to spend time seeing shows than to gamble haha
We seen Mat Franco, got tickets through tix4tonight. Literally the last row, back against the wall, and we enjoyed the show. The theatre is prett small so we were able to see everything. Mostly tricks we've see on AGT but a couple different ones as well.
We went to see Mr. 305 at the Axis in Planet Hollywood. I bought tickets in the early afternoon on the day of the show for $39 each. We were about 5 rows from the back of the theatre, but again this is a smaller venue and we could see fine. High energy show, we were really happy we went!
MJ One at the Stratosphere was good as well. Supposedly the guy impersonating MJ spend over $30K on surgery to look more like Jackson. All in all it was a good show, if you're an MJ fan I'd recommend.
Last but not least we seen Ed Sheeran at T-mobile Arena. This guy is impressive. We scored 2 tickets for under $100 total right at the box office at the arena about 45 minutes prior to the show. We were pretty much as far as you could get from the stage, but we still had a great time. He came out alone, no band, just him and his guitar. And he rocked it! His opener was James Blunt who did a good job as well.
Wasn't good. Probably one of my worst trips gambling-wise over the 30+ trips I've taken ocer the past 12 years. The slots were tight ( I know, big surprise). Most of the time we didn't even get any play out of them, just put the money in and hit the button until it was gone about 2 minutes later. I did have a couple decent hits on a Buffalo bonus but nothing major.
We had gone to Mirage and I wanted to play my favorite Sphinx machine, but it wasn't where I had left it last trip. However, on our very last day I found it on the opposite side of the bank where it had been. I was overjoyed and played it for about a half hour or so. I having put a hundred in and got it up to a little over $400 but the bonus wasn't coming up very often and I was bleeding funds so I cashed out at $200. I was happy to see it still there. I found a newer version of the same game at Stratosphere but it ate my $50 without any win. Literally not $1. That sucked.
Blackjack is usually my saving grace but not this trip. I had horrible luck everywhere. I think I won $300 twice, but this was immediately after losing the same amount at the table prior. I had one good session where I clears about $500. Outside of that I took a beating. That sucked too.
Other general observations...
I was impressed with TI this trip. We only stopped in on our last day but I was pleased to learn that they serve pina coladas and other frozen drinks on the floor. Maybe other places do this too but this was the first I've seen it. Also, those of you from Canada will know what I mean...they serve caesars. Real ceasars with clamato juice. Also, their 'high limit' bj is only $25 and rules are great. The drinks they give you there are also awesome!
I've stayed at TI many times, but I may have to make it a point to stay again on my next trip as we had a great fe hours here to conclude our trip.
I'm sure there is more, but I can't recall at this point. As of now we are talking avout our next trip being early January. I might try to get back in the Fall to catch the Seahawks and Carsinals again and maybe some NHL action.
Until then I'll leave you with a few more random photos...
Great trip report!! Really enjoyed it and all the pictures as well!!
Thanks! It was a great trip! Can't wait to go back!
