With those whole MGM mess, I changed our upcoming reservation next to week to Wynncore. Question for frequent guests…does Wynn comp specialty drinks like a Sinatra Smash? Or do they have any “signature” drinks that are worth trying? I figure as the best property in Vegas they probably have some pretty good cocktails. Also has anyone successfully upgraded with the $20 trick at the front desk? There will be 3 of us and I currently have an Encore King Room but would really appreciate getting a two queen room…doesn’t matter if it’s at the Wynn or the Encore.
I've managed to change my King changed to a 2-Queen the two times I've wanted to. I gave the girl at check-in $20 both times when I did that as I was trying to check-in early. I threw the 2-Queen request in as an 'if you can' as she checked to see if I could get my room early and was lucky. I've always found at the Wynn, with small things like that, if they can do it, then invariably they will.
You likely aren’t going to score a big upgrade at Wynn with the $20 trick. They are pretty transparent with their upgrade costs, both prior with eStandby and at the desk. Definitely don’t expect to go from a regular room to a Tower Suite with $20, even a standard TS. I think at best you are going to do is move up floors or change your view. But I think this goes for most properties on the strip at this point. The corporations got wise to it and try to monetize upgrades in their favor, not the employees.
I think $20 would do that if they have the availability. I also think just asking nicely would do the trick as well. Every check in interaction I’ve ever experienced was very positive and never any jerks. As far as drinks go, not sure about the specialty drinks, but I do know they’ve comped every vodka I’ve asked for and the morning cappuccinos and lattes were phenomenal.
@RolexSub lwt me know which drinks you’re talking and where you’re talking (casino floor, Charlie’s, etc) and I’ll figure it out for you.
I’m just talking comp drinks on the casino floor. I heard Wynn has a drink called Sinatra Smash at their restaurant which sounds good but wasn’t sure that would he something that would he comped on the floor. Or if they have any “signature cocktails” that are good? I’m open to about anything- I like to try new things especially when I don’t need to pay for them and waste my $ if I don’t care for it.
I've been denied a Sinatra Smash on the floor, although it might be a different story in the HL room. I've been told by one of their bartenders that you should be able to order one at pretty much any bar on the property, but the one I got at Eastside Lounge didn't taste quite right to me (I get the sense he didn't make them very often) while the ones I've had at Parasol were always perfect.
I just tried to order a Sinatra Smash at Charlie’s and she said it’s exclusive to Sinatra (the restaurant. Here are the compable high end cocktails at Charlie’s:
Wow, what a menu. And those can all be comped with basic 25c denom/$1.25 bets? I plan on seeding Wynn in early October, and I for sure wanna try at least 3 of those specialty cocktails
Last week I overheard someone ask if they can do a Sinatra Smash at one of the Encore bars and he said “of course we can!” Whether or not it was good or close to the actual one, I have no clue. I keep meaning to get to the Charlie’s bar and I never do.
I play $1 VP bartop as a default so… not sure but can check tonight. I think it may start at $1 denom/$5 bets but they comp up to $25 drinks every 20 minutes…
I feel like most of the machines at that bar start at $1 denom. There might be one or 2 machines with .25 or .50 denom. This is still the Wynn
