In my legal career, it never ceased to amaze me how many people would do multi-million dollars deals with nothing more than a handshake. Then they would come to me when things went south. The guy in this story was an idiot.

As an aside, last I read, the property is on schedule to open summer of next year. Hope they stay on schedule, as some out of country friends want to meet up in boston sometime next fall as part of a long trip they are planning. Would love to see the new resort if its open

I do too UK. Love to be able to shoot up to Boston for the “Wynn” experience instead of my 8-10 hr flight. I know.... not much sympathy from someone that has to fly from the UK :) Or at least I’m assuming you do?

I wasn’t in law but worked in Contracts for quite a few years and like law, it’s all about the documentation. Without it, you’re SOL.

They have all except the top 4 floors glassed in now. The skeleton of the "swoosh" on top is up too. I'll try to do a quick video from the opposite side of the canal in the next few days. I have no idea if it's on schedule or not. There was a period of about a month during the winter when no new glass was going up, that might have been some sort of pause, or it might mean nothing.

Check the location under his username. UK in this case does not stand for United Kingdom ;-)

See, if you're going to do something crazy like a handshake real estate deal, do it BIG.

Without going into too much detail, my former company did something similar, but it was a little less than a million. It didn't even make the local news.

If you're gonna make a splash, make a SPLASH. Good job, everybody involved.

Has anybody read anything about what restaurants Encore will have? Are they duplicating some of those in Wynn and Encore in Vegas or? Looks like the rooms are styled the same as the Wynn room which makes sense since it started out to be Wynn. Those double escalator/stairways look very cool. Can't wait to take a trip there next summer!

I used to correct members when they would make a comment about my being from England (or who knows, maybe people think I'm from Wales, lol), but I stopped doing that a few years ago because whatever, it doesn't really matter (and as Hoya mentioned, my location is right there on my profile avatar). But one more time for the road: I'm from Nashville, family is from southern KY, and I have spent my whole life obsessively watching and cheering for a certain semi-pro basketball team from Lexington that we fans simply refer to as UK. Or, go Cats!!!!!

Despite that, several times in my life, strangers have told me that I have a British-sounding accent. Those strangers have obviously never met anyone from Britain, lol

That is too funny....I seriously doubt anyone from TN or KY sounds anything like a brit.:rolleyes2: Maybe in a previous life you were English royalty:thumbsup:

OK, this didn't come out great, I couldn't zoom in as much as I wanted to from downtown and something was messing with the focus when I did zooms, but I don't have time to re-do it, so here's a quick and dirty look at the current Encore Wynn project.

The unions had an ad in the commuter newspaper today, not really sure why. I don't think there's any kind of dispute going on with the builder.

Thanks Chuck! I'd agree with you that they should be on schedule. Seems like when the Vegas resorts hit that same stage, thing went pretty fast.
