Steve Wynn is the real deal. It's absolutely amazing how quickly this dream is turning into steel and concrete based on those pictures.

I wish he was building new resorts in Vegas. That town desperately needs his touch. I remember watching an interview where he talked about how Boyd should have built a new iteration of the Stardust instead of the overstuffed "Echelon" project that busted them. Considering the proximity of that property, I wish he would have just bought out the rights and did it himself.

The Stardust will come back one day. May be a decade or three but its going to happen.

I went to boarding school and college in New England, but I'm not culturally a good fit on the East Coast (we're 'guns and religion' flyover country types, I guess), so I no longer go there (don't have to be there for business anymore-retired), even for reunions, etc. But, Boston is a good town (I miss Legal Seafood) and I'm betting Mr. Wynn's new place will be fabulous. The new boss there was formerly the EVP/ General Manager at Wynn and he's very, very good. It'll be great, no doubt. Woodsie is right-Mr. Wynn get's it done.

Since we rarely leave Wynn/Encore when in Vegas, I think Wynn BH is going to be a great place for us. No NS flights that I could find but SW has a short hop from our VA airport to BWI and then a shorter hop to Logan, about 3 1/2 total travel time incl the layover. That's versus our usual 3 hours flight to MDW, a layover and then about 4 to Vegas:rolleyes2:

i live about 70 miles west of Boston and except for a rare Sox game I almost never go to Boston... Had I known
the tall ships were in town, I would have made plans. I was there the last time, 17 years ago and it was great.

Not sure if I'd go to wynnBos... prefer Vegas as I go there more often then Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods,
but the way Vegas is going ,the gambling odds are getting more in favor of them than bean counter heaven.

Yea and I can see a lot of people possibly feeling like that but in our case, we love the Wynn properties and have been to Vegas so many times we don't go "wander the strip" so it really doesn't matter to me where I'm at regarding state/city. Plus Vegas is becoming such a nightclub town and that part is of no interest to us and from what I read so far it sounds like WBH isn't going to have night clubs. It looks like a hotel, casino, restaurants, spa, shopping and convention spaces.

But.....we all know Steve is always messing with his designs long after they open so who knows what it will look like 5 years after it opens. I'm hoping that they're really seeing a different demographic to cater to at WBH.

It should be a fuckin' gold mine. Not a pristine location, but easy to get to.

I'll see if I can hop off the train some time in the next couple of weeks and shoot some video from across the channel.

Can't wait for this to open. My wife and I both grew up in CT and went to college in Boston; we love that city. We're always looking for an excuse to make the drive up when we're back in CT visiting family.

And since there are direct flights from Austin to Boston, it could make it worthwhile to just fly straight there and have people meet us at Wynn to check it out, play some games, walk the city, etc, then drive back to CT for the rest of the trip.

Also something to consider for people speaking about financials: the Boston hotel and CT casino nightly rates are a whole different ball game than Vegas rates, so if this location and property ends up being highly desirable for conventions, proximity to downtown, and general vacationing or weekend trips, I could see it making serious money just off of the rooms.

You know, or not. I just know how insanely expensive Boston hotel rooms are for even mediocre quality hotels. I bet these Wynn rooms will not be cheap.

Probably why he's not putting nightclubs in this venue. Wynn sees the opportunity in being another hotel option that just happens to have a casino too. Even if the casino was the only attracting feature, the rates that Mohegan and Foxwoods draw on the weekends is nutty...$500 for even the worst rooms. I wonder how this opening will affect those two. And on the note of competition, I feel like there are way too many casinos opening. I will still stand behind keeping my gambling to AC and Vegas though.

Yeah, there's a reason I've never stayed overnight at Mohegan or Foxwoods even though I grew up 40 minutes away and have wanted many times to do so: it's just too expensive.

And while I'm a low roller who doesn't go often enough to get comps, I know people who do spend a decent amount there and also go quite often but I rarely hear about them being offered a comped night or two unless it's middle of the week.

I live bout 25 min away, cant wait to try this place out. Not sure how he will get by the "no smoking in public places" and I don't think free drinks will work in the Commonwealth either.

Is he trying to get by a smoking restriction in the first place?

Smoking is a dying habit. I would expect the impact of a smoke free restriction to be negligible. Even in Vegas on my last trip the rate of smokers had to be less than 5% of the clientelle if not less. I was surprised at how few smokers I saw on the casino floor. It wouldn't shock me if some casinos just started nixing it all together in order to better serve the 95% of their customers who don't want to breath in smoke.

I wonder how many times he gets asked if he is going to buy back the Bellagio.
