If they are trying to reach a broader audience, it is working. I am looking forward to play in this and cross a bucket list item off. I don’t really have the bankroll to play in $1k tournaments. This would be a one off and for entertainment only. I’m not looking to make a profession off poker.

Gladiators will be such a shit show. I'm glad it's bringing new people into the game though. I'm planning on Mystery Millions Bounty, $1500 dealers choice, and the Monster Stack. And then the $600-800 NLHE side events during those events if need be.

This is going to be the first year that I play in the series (other than cash). Not sure what my roll will look like but I will most likely be selling part of my action to some of my friends. at the moment I have 3-5 events on my radar.

I will be playing the mystery bounty with the $600 tourney as backup if I don't make day two. Hoping to sneak back down for one more late in the series depending on work. :D

I'm going with my usual WSOP strategy
Avoid poker in Vegas when it's in town
Play cash games in AC during it
I don't want to play against the best players in the world I want to play against the worst
I had my ass handed to me by "no home Jerome" years ago and it taught me I'm not in their league
During the series the good players leave AC for Vegas and the games are loaded with NYC rich kids on the weekends ripe for the plucking

Would love to hear any interesting stories (or even uninteresting ones!) about Ivey's early poker days!

I happened to run into a buzz saw while playing $5/10 NL with a Main Event champion, the Australian. Took $2500 from me in short order as I was on the ass end of a straight. Mainly stick with 1/3 and 2/5 since then as work schedule prevents me from the practice necessary to not be "the fish".

Joe Hachem is his name and a great ambassador for poker

If you want to play against the worst players, that's definitely the $500-1000 events during the WSOP, lol. All the recs from across the country fly in to play them.
Almost all of them are filled with people who will show you their hands, only play premiums and are for the most part very chatty. It's the best time of the year.

The best players in the world will be at the 3k+ tourneys.

My friend got back from Vegas and said Golden Nugget will have a series this summer. I was beginning to wonder because I hadn't seen a schedule posted.

I might pop down and play one of these with my brother who is taking his maiden trip, but the only tables I'm likely to be at this summer, are dining tables :D

That's awesome, I played main on 1D a decade ago or so. Made it to day 3 (needed day 4 for cashing).

    Have you played it before?

You'll have a great time! Played the ME in 2019 (190th) and 2021 (busted just shortof the money on day 3).

Just remember. Take your time. There will always be a better spot. Those 2 hour levels mean no pressure. Certainly on Day 1

I played once before in 2016. Made day 3 but had a terrible experience, my wallet got stolen at the start at day 2! No money, Id, or cards all alone in Vegas isn’t fun. Even less so when you’re trying to focus on a 10k…

That’s what I failed to realize in 2016. I’m used to 1-3 day tournaments and the shift was more than I expected. This year I’m going to sit on my hands ;)

Looks like I'll be out the first weekend in June to play the Mystery Millions and if needed, but hopefully not, the $600 deepstack. Also going to see what events are happening at the other series during that time.
